A generally cloudy day as a band of rain makes its way northwards along eastern coasts. Elsewhere, there will be a few scattered showers, especially in the south west. There will be a few clear spells in the west. Through the afternoon and overnight, most of the cloud will clear as a band of showers move in from the west. – This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 28/04/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Marco Petagna.

00:00 Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office. I'm Marco Britania.
00:04 We'll see an east-west split weather-wise across the UK as we head through Sunday afternoon.
00:08 It's the east, it will generally see the wettest conditions, some outbreaks of locally heavy rain here,
00:12 coupled with quite a keen north to north-westerly wind, so feeling quite chilly too.
00:16 We'll head out towards the west and eventually across some southern spots, we'll see some sunshine peering through.
00:20 But notice a good rash of showers as well, showers locally on the heavy side,
00:24 particularly towards the south-west and eventually across parts of Northern Ireland as well.
00:28 With sunshine and with lighter winds out towards the west and across the south later, it shouldn't feel too bad
00:32 out and about with temperatures up to 12 to 14 Celsius, 14 there in the south-west is 57 in Fahrenheit,
00:36 but feeling much cooler towards the north-east here,
00:40 highs of only 7 or 8 Celsius, so feeling quite chilly with that wind, the cloud and that rain around too.
00:44 As we head through the evening and during the overnight period, that persistent
00:48 rain towards the north-east will gradually clear towards the northern isles, so staying quite wet
00:52 across the far north-east of Scotland into the early hours of Monday.
00:56 There will be some clear spells for a time, but showers working their way in from the west,
01:00 becoming increasingly widespread out across western and north-western areas by Monday morning,
01:04 and some of those showers also merging later to give some longer spells of rain.
01:08 Under the clear spells towards the north and east, we could see a local touch of frost,
01:12 certainly towards the north-east there with temperatures down close to freezing,
01:16 but it's a mostly frost-free night overnight tonight.
01:20 Into Monday, once again we'll see an east-west split in the weather, but in difference to Sunday, it'll be the east and the south-east
01:24 of the UK, set to see the best of the dry and locally bright weather at times,
01:28 whereas out towards the west, showers gathering, turning quite heavy, quite organised
01:32 at times, and also affecting northern areas as we head into the afternoon.
01:36 It will be a warmer day, especially in that sunshine towards the south-east of the UK,
01:40 highs during the afternoon of 16 or 17 Celsius, and even towards the north, despite the wet
01:44 and showy conditions, highs here will be around 13 or 14 Celsius.
01:48 As we go into the evening on Monday, we hold onto quite a showy picture towards the north
01:52 and west, again the showers quite heavy, merging at times to give some longer spells of rain,
01:56 so it'll be the south-east of the UK holding onto the best of the clearer and drier conditions
02:00 as we go through Monday night. That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can
02:04 keep tuned to The Met Office Forecast by following us on social media and subscribing
02:08 to our YouTube channel. I'll see you soon, take care for now, bye bye.
