Wonderful' Washington school on the verge of becoming outstanding following Ofsted inspection

Teachers and pupils at Rickleton Primary School react to their latest Ofsted report.

00:00Okay, Mrs Price, how do you feel about what was put in the Ofsted report and the judgment

00:04which was given?

00:05I feel incredibly proud of the report. I think it's a true reflection of the day-to-day life

00:10at Rickleton Primary School. I think that the children's voice was very much picked

00:16up through the report in terms of how happy they are at school, how well they learn and

00:21all of the things that we do here outside the classroom.

00:24And what's in the report? The school is on the verge of becoming outstanding?

00:27Yep, yeah, the inspector was very clear of all the excellent things that we do across

00:33the school and they'll be coming back to inspect in the next 12 to 24 months because the inspector

00:39could definitely see that the school is on the verge of being outstanding.

00:45In terms of how the staff reacted, what was the reaction of the staff when they found

00:49out the judgment and read the report?

00:51Yeah, I think obviously delighted. It's good to receive recognition when you go to work

00:56to try your hardest. And I think the thing that pleased staff most is that nothing special

01:01happened for Ofsted. This is what we do day-to-day here and I think to be recognised for that

01:06is really testament to how hard the staff work every day of the year. So really delighted

01:10with it, yeah.

01:11Okay, and Alex, how do you feel about the school getting such a good Ofsted report?

01:17I feel very proud because it means that I'm coming to one of the best schools in the country

01:21and not everyone gets to do that and it obviously helps you learn and as I'm almost going to

01:27secondary school, that'll be ready for whichever school I go to.

01:31And for you, what's the best thing about coming to this school?

01:34All the sports clubs and after-school clubs and how it's not just normal lessons all the

01:39time, you can do fun activities, you can participate in sport as well.

01:44Okay, and Penny, how do you feel about the report and being able to come to this school?

01:47I feel very lucky that I'm able to come here and that it's an outstanding school and that

01:54I come here every day.

01:56And in terms of your teachers, a word for the job your teachers do at the school?

02:02Very understanding and very fun to work with every day.
