00:00Hype Urban Bikes City Centre Hub aims to make cycling accessible to all and get
00:06people living in and visiting the region on their bike to explore the area,
00:10improve their health and well-being and promote green active travel. We know
00:15that from the schools that we've worked in a lot of children aged 9 and 10 can't
00:19ride a bike and we know that if they go to secondary school the chances are
00:23they're probably not going to pick up a bike so in the you know 10 years down
00:26the line are they going to be encouraging their children to cycle. We
00:30offer different to most bike shops is that we have bikes of all different
00:34shapes and sizes but you know we want to get people cycling so there's no real
00:38cap on how much our bikes you know if you need a bike we're there to help you.
00:42When Merseyside Police can't find the owner of a bike they donate them to
00:45charities including Hype. One of the things that we also partner with Hype
00:50and all bike retailers across Merseyside is we provide bike marking
00:56kits. The bike register is a national cycle database. If a bike is marked its
01:02statistics have shown a bike is 83% less likely to be stolen. Hype Urban Bikes
01:07provide free and low-cost activities including road and cycle safety sessions,
01:11group rides and balanced bike sessions and a host of courses and workshops. What
01:17we try and do is change the landscape for young people and provide more
01:20opportunities in so many different ways because it's needed you know for young
01:25people growing up there are limited opportunities in some places so we're
01:29there to reach out to connect. As a not-for-profit organization all monies
01:33generated are invested back into the community funding events initiatives and
01:37the establishment of future hubs in other boroughs in the region. If
01:41unfortunately your child or yourself does become a victim of having the bike
01:46stolen please report it to Merseyside Police. If we're not aware of it we
01:52can't make the efforts to try and bring those offenders to justice and also get
01:56your bike back. We are actively out there now.
