00:02 So, you wanna pack late when you travel,
00:05 but you're not sure how?
00:06 Hey, I'm Jessie, a Fars resident late packing expert,
00:09 and I'm here to show you how to pack less
00:12 for your next trip.
00:13 (upbeat music)
00:16 Okay, so my first tip is to do a travel capsule wardrobe.
00:24 Now, if you're familiar with the idea of a capsule wardrobe,
00:27 it's this concept that you can just build
00:30 your entire closet from about 30 items of clothes,
00:34 all of which are really easy to mix and match
00:35 with each other.
00:36 On the travel side, we're not bringing 30, that's too much.
00:39 We're looking at closer to 10 to 12 items,
00:41 and this includes your pants, skirts, tops,
00:45 basically everything except for your underwear.
00:47 I would recommend going for things like pieces of clothing
00:50 in your wardrobe that you already really love
00:52 and love to wear every day.
00:54 The idea is that you can make many different outfits
00:58 with just a few items, so choose carefully.
01:00 Okay, so my next tip is about toiletries.
01:05 So, we all know that you can bring up to 3.4 ounces
01:09 of liquids like shampoo, conditioner, et cetera,
01:12 on an airplane, but that doesn't mean you need 3.4 ounces.
01:16 Instead, miniaturize your toiletries even further,
01:19 especially for things like face wash.
01:21 I use a half ounce Cadence Capsule container for that.
01:25 So, bring only what you need.
01:27 Don't necessarily max out the 3.4 ounce liquid limit rule.
01:31 Okay, next tip, get a smaller bag.
01:35 So, we've all been there where we added a couple of items
01:39 that we didn't really need or never ended up using
01:42 just because we have extra space.
01:44 So, by getting a smaller bag,
01:46 you're essentially forcing yourself to not do that,
01:48 to not bring the just-in-case items,
01:50 not bring the maybe items,
01:51 but only what you really can fit in your bag.
01:54 Most carry-ons will be around 30 to 45 liters,
01:57 but I would suggest if you are trying to use this tactic,
01:59 just go down about five or 10 liters
02:01 and incrementally make your bag a little bit smaller.
02:04 Over time, you will get better at packing to that size.
02:08 Okay, my last tip, this is actually my secret
02:11 to packing light every time,
02:13 and that's make a packing list
02:15 and pack a day or more in advance of your trip.
02:19 I know this is kind of hard for some people.
02:20 We're all different, it's okay.
02:22 But if you are packing super last minute or in a rush,
02:26 you're more likely to just throw things in your bag
02:29 and possibly bring more things that you need
02:31 or things that you just are not gonna need
02:33 on this particular trip.
02:34 Okay, my next tip is packing cubes.
02:38 I actually did a whole other video on packing cubes
02:41 and why I love them, so go check it out after this one.
02:44 But packing cubes really are super helpful
02:46 for helping you to put the same amount of stuff
02:49 into less space, especially if you're going
02:51 for a compression cube like this one by Thule.
02:54 I really love it and it's an essential item for me now.
02:57 Okay, thanks for watching
03:00 and I hope you found those tips helpful.
03:02 If you're looking for more though,
03:03 we have a whole article about that on apart.com.
03:06 I'll link to them in the description, go check it out.
03:08 And as always, remember to like and subscribe
03:11 on your way out and safe travels.
