00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. We have some heavy rain
00:04 around over the next 48 hours which will be slow moving and it will cause some impacts
00:09 in terms of flooding. The reason why an area of low pressure tracks across the country
00:14 is fairly slow moving itself with some stronger winds associated with it. So most places seeing
00:19 some rain but across some parts we could see in excess of 100mm particularly northern parts
00:25 of Wales over the higher ground, north west England. For the time being if you are travelling
00:30 you may run into a thunderstorm, northern Ireland, Wales, central southern England,
00:33 the south east but they will tend to fade away as this rain really makes its mark through
00:39 the latter part of Tuesday and into the early hours of Wednesday. Now notice some bright
00:43 echoes representing some heavy pulses and that really will be the name of the game through
00:47 Wednesday as well. So rain warning covering this zone here, much of England and Wales.
00:53 Further north, har along this east coast, north east England, inland it's dry but some
00:58 showery bursts extending from western Scotland down towards northern Ireland through the
01:02 first part of Wednesday morning. It's a relatively mild start to the day but always feeling cool
01:07 through Wednesday under this cloud and rain and for some you'll see rain right the way
01:12 through the day. It's slowly moving its way northwards through the first part of Wednesday
01:17 morning but if you are travelling across England and Wales you may run into some problems with
01:21 surface water issues, certainly rivers will become swollen as the rain persists across
01:26 Wales, northern parts of England and eventually southern Scotland seeing that rain. Now towards
01:31 the north of that, that low cloud will tend to thin at times, you may get some dry weather
01:36 before this rain pivots round with the centre of the low across the North Sea bringing with
01:40 it some heavy pulses through the latter part of Wednesday pushing towards western Scotland,
01:45 clipping northern Ireland and that rain persisting across the west midlands, Wales as well as
01:49 north west England. Now through Wednesday evening and overnight that rain continues.
01:55 Any showers in the south which have developed through the day will linger on here as well
01:59 with the risk of thunder and we could see some heavy downpours but notice across northern
02:03 Scotland some high rainfall totals with this slow moving rain as it continues to circulate
02:09 round the centre of the low and with that a wet end to the night, particularly across
02:13 the north as well as the west pushing down towards the midlands as well. A relatively
02:17 mild start to Thursday yet again but for many it's going to be a wet one. So you can see
02:22 where the rain is, low cloud at that, further south you'll see some drier skies but yet
02:27 again one or two showers could develop through the day. Winds will be strong particularly
02:32 across this western side of the UK and pushing up towards eastern parts of Scotland where
02:37 we'll see an onshore breeze and feeling cool here. The rain turns more showery through
02:41 Thursday afternoon but these rain warnings across central, eastern and southern parts
02:45 of Scotland extend until 6pm on Thursday. Through Friday we'll see those showers fade
02:50 away, it will turn a bit warmer into the weekend and then the risk of further showers on Sunday.
02:56 I'll see you later.
