Lots of rain around on Monday evening, mainly affecting Scotland, Northern Ireland, and western parts of Wales and England. Cloud and rain will move east over the UK overnight, leaving the country by early morning. Into Tuesday, many areas will be clear, but the northern half of the UK will see some showers – heavy at times. 00:00Hello again, very good evening to you. It is going to be a showery day on Tuesday, but
00:05before then, there is a lot of cloud and a lot of rain around for many of us overnight.
00:10Because of this frontal system that is gradually making its way southeastwards. It's already
00:14brought quite a bit of rain to parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Western England and Wales
00:18and all that cloud and that rain is feeding its way further east and southeastwards, eventually
00:23reaching the southeast through the early hours of Tuesday morning. Behind it, yes, there
00:27are some clear spells around, but also a bit of cloud at times and also some showery bursts
00:32of rain, especially across parts of Scotland and temperatures aren't going to drop a huge
00:37amount. Many places staying well into double figures. In fact, in parts of the southeast
00:42where we have that cloud, that front lingering, it's going to be another warm night. Temperatures
00:46in some places only falling to around 17 or 18 Celsius. Because of that front in the southeast,
00:52a bit of a grey damp start could be some rain through the morning for a time, but it does
00:55clear away. And then we do have some bright sunny spells following in, but also plenty
01:00of showers, especially towards the north northwest of Scotland, Northern Ireland, seeing lots
01:05of showers feeding in and those showers could be quite heavy for some of us. And there will
01:09be some blustery, gusty winds, particularly towards those coastal areas in the west where
01:14there is the risk of some gales. Perhaps fewer showers further south for more central southern
01:19parts of England and Wales, but even a few showers are possible here. Those blustery
01:24winds will make it feel a little bit cool, perhaps a bit cooler than these temperatures
01:28suggest for some of us. Generally, we're looking at temperatures peaking in the mid to high
01:32teens towards the north and west and low to mid 20s towards the southeast. So not as warm
01:38as on Monday, but nonetheless not feeling too bad in the sunshine and out of those brisk
01:43winds. More showers to come as we go through Tuesday evening could be some heavy, intense
01:47ones for a time, but overnight we should start to see those showers easing for many places.
01:52That being said, there will still be some showers continuing around western parts of
01:56Scotland, Northern Ireland, a few around the coast of England and Wales towards the west,
02:00perhaps a few more for some parts of northern England, but many turning largely dry with
02:05some clear skies. And as a result, the temperatures are going to drop a little bit lower than
02:10through Monday night in rural spots away from the towns and cities likely to just about
02:14dip into single digits for some places. So Wednesday gets off to a bright and dry start
02:20for many, but yes, some showers around in a few places. Later on, though, it is going
02:24to turn cloudier with some rain then feeding into the northwest, heavy rain then spilling
02:29across parts of Northern Ireland and much of Scotland too. And this rain is likely to
02:33be pretty intense and quite impactful for some of us. Nonetheless, it is still going
02:38to be quite warm towards the southeast. Temperatures may be generally a bit disappointing for the
02:43time of year if it's warmth you're after just about getting into the low 20s towards the
02:47southeast and fresher than this further north and west. And with the wind, the rain, it
02:51is going to feel pretty unpleasant at times. Like I said, that rain is going to be heavy
02:56and we do have a warning out which runs through much of Wednesday and into Thursday because
03:01rainfall totals are going to build up. We're looking at the potential for some places,
03:05the higher ground towards the west of Scotland, seeing around, if not a little bit more than
03:09150 millimetres. So some disruption is likely. There could be some travel disruption, spray
03:15on the roads, also a bit of flooding in places. All of this wet and windy weather is the results
03:21of the remnants of what was Hurricane Ernesto, the other side of the Atlantic. It does continue,
03:27like I said, as we go into Thursday, particularly towards the northwest of the UK before eventually
03:31sweeping through towards the southeast. But by the time it reaches southeastern parts,
03:35it will be a bit lighter. Another system then comes through as we go on Friday, bringing
03:39some more wet and windy weather for a time. But that doesn't look as intense as what we
