00:00 I walked outside of my salon and see this teeny tiny little bean of a mouse.
00:04 She was laying there just struggling.
00:06 I didn't see any signs of mother mouse.
00:07 It really broke my heart.
00:09 I picked her up and off we went on this big adventure.
00:11 I'm Eric and this is Molly Bean's story for GeoBeats.
00:15 But it seemed like she was probably days old.
00:17 She just barely had hair.
00:18 Her eyes were not open.
00:19 I thought, I don't know what to do with this thing.
00:21 I've never ever been around mice before.
00:23 I searched on what they could eat and how to feed and how often to feed.
00:29 I had to get up at night every two to three hours.
00:34 She would always take a nap either under my beard or I would just hold her in my hands
00:39 and rub on her and she would fall asleep like that.
00:44 Just knowing that I was all she had and her only chance of survival at that point was
00:48 pretty important to me.
00:49 Every time I woke up I worried about her and wondered if she was going to be okay.
00:58 And sure enough, she's still crawling around.
01:01 Her little personality started shining.
01:03 It seemed like she was gaining so much strength then.
01:10 Now I'm thinking she's about three and a half months old, maybe four.
01:15 She's a little comedian.
01:16 She's really funny.
01:17 It's cool to be around her.
01:18 She has a little tutu that she puts on from time to time because everyone was referring
01:22 to her as him.
01:24 And she was my little princess.
01:26 Everyone said that they needed companionship and so I got her a friend.
01:29 She plays hide and seek and it's the funniest thing.
01:32 When she was little I kept her with me 24/7.
01:34 But since she's older and she eats big girl food now, she gets to stay with her sister
01:38 at the salon where she's really comfortable.
01:41 Pretty much all of my clients are very open to her and she loves to be around them and
01:51 just loves to play.
01:52 For a wild mouse, I was really surprised about that.
01:56 Whenever she first started becoming really active, she would run at my arm extremely
02:02 fast and down my shirt.
02:04 I'll take her on walks and initially I worried that she was going to escape me and take off
02:11 and I would never be able to find her.
02:12 It turns out I'm what she wants.
02:14 She doesn't ever want away from me.
02:16 I was the only thing around when she first opened her eyes.
02:18 I really feel like maybe she thinks she's human.
02:20 I rescued Foster about 14 years ago.
02:22 I brought him to meet Molly.
02:25 He was just as sweet as he always is with any other creature.
02:28 Just his sweet old self.
02:30 I think she's kind of in her teenage years now.
02:37 They party pretty hard at night time.
02:39 I'll get to where they stay and their room is just a rat.
02:41 Mice and rats, they have feelings and emotions and they go through their life one way or
02:46 the other, either worrying about when their next meal is going to be or just being a little
02:50 bit worried about when their next meal is going to be or digging around and playing
02:53 on everything you get them to play on.
02:55 Molly has taught me that if a little mouse is worthy of something so special, then we
03:00 as humans absolutely are.
03:02 I think we miss a lot of that in our world today and need to get back to that love, you
03:06 know, love for everybody and everything.
03:08 When I looked down at her and saw that she was just so helpless, at that moment she wasn't
03:17 a pest.
03:18 She stole my heart.
03:19 She deserved that chance.
