00:03 - We got a big one tonight in Minneapolis at the Target
00:06 and we got all kinds of reaction going into this puppy.
00:09 - We do have all kinds of reaction for it.
00:12 Really fast, I wanted to tell you,
00:13 the A's were about to close out the Rays
00:15 in the bottom of the ninth.
00:17 The problem is they gave up a solo homer to Jose Siri
00:20 and that game is now tied at fours,
00:22 going to the 10th between Oakland and Tampa.
00:26 The Brewers had taken a 4-3 lead over the Cubbies.
00:29 The problem for them, Scotty,
00:31 they just gave up a homer to Christopher Murrell.
00:33 4-4 again, tied Cubbies and Brewers
00:36 in Milwaukee in the eighth inning.
00:38 So a couple tight ones this afternoon.
00:40 They're about to start in about a half hour
00:42 with that Astro Mariner game.
00:44 You are right, as you and Gabe were just discussing,
00:46 we have a game five tonight in Minneapolis.
00:51 As the Mavericks were up 3-0,
00:53 they lose game four at home.
00:54 Minnesota stays alive and they will try
00:56 to extend this series even further back to Dallas
01:01 for a game six.
01:03 Why don't we start with Maverick head coach, Jason Kidd.
01:07 Believe it or not, Scotty, somebody asked him,
01:10 this is the first game they've lost in the series,
01:13 if he needed to do anything different
01:14 to kind of clear the players' minds.
01:17 He didn't really understand what they were talking about,
01:19 but he says, "No, the focus is we gotta beat Minnesota
01:22 "here in game five and move on to the finals."
01:24 Here he is.
01:25 - This isn't time to go for a bike ride
01:28 or go to the park or the zoo.
01:30 We gotta figure out how to slow these guys down.
01:34 We got a responsibility, we got a job to do,
01:36 and that's the final way to win in Minnesota.
01:38 We can do that after the season.
01:42 Take our mind off the basketball.
01:44 Right now, this is a great opportunity for us
01:47 as a young team to go through this.
01:50 There's no reason to figure out
01:53 or think about something else.
01:54 This is how do we get better, what mistakes did we make.
01:57 This is a new group going against
02:00 one of the best teams in the league.
02:02 So I don't think we're gonna have time
02:05 to do something different right now.
02:09 - So Gary Franchise just hit a two-run shot
02:13 for the Brew Crew in Milwaukee.
02:16 Sanchez to deep center field, a bomb,
02:20 and it's six-four Brewers.
02:22 So anyway, I thought that was a great line.
02:25 You don't have time to go to the park or to the zoo.
02:30 (laughing)
02:32 - What do you think they're gonna do?
02:35 I mean, honestly, there's three teams left.
02:38 They're one win away from the NBA final.
02:41 What do you think they're gonna do?
02:42 I thought that was perfect for the game.
02:44 Although I did hear they have a nice zoo in Minneapolis,
02:49 if any of the guys did wanna go do that
02:51 after shoot around today.
02:52 - Listen, bro, I don't go to zoos, okay?
02:55 (laughing)
02:56 Honestly, I didn't even go.
02:59 I've been to the San Diego Zoo when I was a little kid,
03:02 and it's like the greatest zoo in America, right?
03:04 Everybody knows they have the greatest zoo.
03:06 And here's me, I've been to San Diego 5,000 times,
03:10 and I wouldn't go to that zoo if you paid me.
03:12 I went to SeaWorld,
03:13 and it was the worst experience of my life.
03:15 I smelled fish for a week.
03:17 Honestly, dead fish for a week I smelled.
03:20 You know, they're throwing these whales fish.
03:22 - Yeah.
03:23 - They're doing flips and splashing me,
03:25 and I just, I got time to smell like fish.
03:29 - You don't need any of that.
03:31 Nobody wants any part of that, that's for sure.
03:33 Here is next Timberwolf head coach, Chris Finch.
03:37 He loves to fight in his team,
03:39 getting this thing back to Minneapolis.
03:41 And something that we see coaches do now, I guess, Scotty,
03:44 in every playoff series in the NBA,
03:46 he makes sure at the end of this clip
03:48 to add in that little, we want some calls next game,
03:52 because you didn't give us any calls in the last game.
03:54 Here we go.
03:55 - Yeah, I think we've been a resilient team all year.
03:58 I think, you know, we never lost three in a row
04:00 until we got to the playoffs.
04:01 So, we never lost four in a row.
04:04 Guys, you know, respond.
04:06 You know, it's a fun team to coach
04:08 because they believe that they can always win
04:10 no matter what, so.
04:11 - Consistency of calls out there, is that what was bothering you?
04:15 How did you see the game?
04:16 - Yeah, I thought it was a little inconsistent for sure.
04:20 For sure.
04:20 - Yeah, as you won.
04:21 As you won the game.
04:23 So, here's the deal.
04:25 Here's how I see this.
04:27 In all honesty, this is helping the Boston Celtics
04:32 more than anyone else.
04:34 The more games that the Mavericks have to play,
04:38 the more of a disadvantage they're gonna be at
04:41 against the deepest team in the league
04:43 and the healthiest team in the league.
04:46 I don't believe that, you know, one game I'm okay with.
04:51 That they're gonna be fine if they win tonight.
04:54 They're gonna be fine and everything will even out.
04:56 They lose tonight and have to go back to Dallas
04:59 for a stressful game six, which people will start saying,
05:04 "Are you gonna blow this?"
05:05 And that's gonna be the talk of the town is,
05:08 "Are they gonna choke and lose game six at home
05:12 and go back to Minneapolis for a game seven?"
05:15 They have to win tonight.
05:16 If they lose two games to the T-Wolves,
05:21 I guarantee you that the Boston Celtics
05:25 annihilate them in the final
05:27 because they're already three or four days ahead of them
05:29 in rest and they're getting Porzingis back
05:32 and they're already the best team in the league.
05:35 They are.
05:36 You can look at the Celtics' performance
05:39 and the Mavericks' performance throughout the season.
05:41 They're just a better, deeper team
05:43 and you're giving them that much rest.
05:45 If they lose again, the Celtics will win the final
05:49 as sure as I'm sitting here.
05:50 If they win tonight,
05:52 you still got the best backcourt final we've seen
05:56 since, I guess, you know,
05:58 Boston and the Lakers several times.
06:00 But for me, Luca and Kyrie against Brown and Tatum
06:05 is the most delicious final in terms of, you know,
06:09 talent in backcourt that I've seen in forever,
06:12 in 25 years.
06:14 And I'm telling you, if they lose tonight,
06:17 they're gonna lose the final.
06:18 If they, 'cause if they win this series,
06:20 no team's ever lost a 3-0 lead ever.
06:22 It's not happening.
06:23 I still don't believe Dallas is losing this series.
06:25 And you know why?
06:26 'Cause they have Luca Doncic.
06:28 And I'm not even mentioning Kyrie Irving
06:30 'cause Luca Doncic is the one that's taking over games.
06:33 - I'm with you.
06:35 I think tonight is very key.
06:37 Despite them having a 3-1 lead,
06:39 they win tonight, it's a full week.
06:42 They don't start until next Thursday night.
06:44 That's seven days.
06:45 And all we've heard about for weeks is
06:47 how Luca drags himself around
06:49 and he's got all these ailments
06:51 and he's got all these things going on.
06:53 You start getting into now playing Saturday
06:55 and then potentially playing Monday
06:57 and potentially play, it just,
06:59 I think you're making it right.
07:00 It just drags on for so long
07:03 if you don't get this thing over with.
07:04 And then the questions start.
07:06 Oh, well, it's 3-2 now.
07:08 What happens if it's 3-3?
07:09 What happens if it gets this?
07:11 So I'm with you.
07:13 Get it over with tonight
07:15 if you can actually go and get that done.
07:17 The numbers for tonight, Scotty,
07:19 as of right now, you guys were mentioning it before,
07:22 at this very second, 4 1/2 for the Timberwolves
07:26 with a 2-0-9 1/2 total.
07:29 - I don't know anything.
07:32 I do know that I got 'em at five at minus about 15.
07:35 That's what I bet it at this morning.
07:37 It's on them.
07:40 It's not on me for them to get this done tonight,
07:43 but they'll rue the day if they lose.
07:45 They'll rue the day that they had to play six games
07:49 with Minnesota when they were up 3-0.
07:53 When you're up 3-0, you gotta ice it, and they didn't.
07:56 And now tonight, they need to ice it.
07:58 Otherwise, they're gonna have ice bags on their knees
08:02 when they play Boston,
08:03 because Boston will run 'em out of the building.
08:05 They'll run 'em out of the building.
08:06 Boston will be sitting on about 10 days rest,
08:09 and people say, "Oh, they've lost their swerve."
08:11 This isn't hockey.
08:13 I don't believe in hockey,
08:15 you stay playing or you lose your swerve.
08:20 You get rusty.
08:23 In golf, you don't play golf, you will not play golf well.
08:27 If you don't play basketball,
08:29 I still believe rest is good for basketball pros
08:33 that are playing in these series.
08:36 The Southerners have a major advantage.
08:37 They played four games that were easy.
08:39 I don't care what anybody says.
08:40 I'm done listening to the rhetoric about the Pacers
08:42 gave 'em a tough series.
08:44 My ass, they got worked in every single fourth quarter.
08:47 They got worked, and they slept with their wives.
08:50 I mean, it was like, you know, unbelievable,
08:54 watching them melt down, turn the ball over,
08:56 not hit a shot and lose every game in the fourth quarter.
08:59 It was unbelievable.
09:01 Total domination.
09:02 That was a horrible Eastern Conference final.
09:05 Anyone that says otherwise is imagining things.
09:08 (upbeat music)
09:11 (bells chiming)
