00:00 We will talk to the FIVOX director, Teresito Bacolcol. Good morning.
00:08 Yes sir. Good morning to you too.
00:10 Yes. In your latest monitoring, was the explosion of volcano Canlaon followed last night?
00:15 We have not observed any explosion since yesterday. So it was not followed.
00:22 So far, the explosive eruption was yesterday.
00:27 Where else? Other volcanic earthquakes, ashfall, and others in the volcano today?
00:35 We have three scenarios that we are looking at.
00:40 If our monitoring parameters are maintained, there can be phreatic and short-lived explosive eruptions in the next few days.
00:50 So if this happens, alert levels will be maintained.
00:53 Now, if our earthquakes, ground deformation, and volcanic parameters are increasing, there can be magmatic eruptions.
01:04 So if this happens, we can increase the alert level from alert level 2 to alert level 3.
01:09 Now, if our monitoring parameters will decline, the alert level will step down to alert level 1 after sufficient observation has elapsed.
01:20 What is the reason behind the eruption of volcano Canlaon? Is this the long-term monitoring of PBOCS?
01:26 Yes. We have been monitoring volcano Canlaon for a long time. The reason why it erupted is because it's active.
01:33 Since 1866, we have 43 volcanic eruptions, including the one yesterday.
01:40 For the past year, since 2023, we issued five advisories for volcano Canlaon because the volcanic earthquakes are increasing.
01:54 In fact, the last advisory that we released was last May 26 because there were 24 volcanic earthquakes.
02:02 Normally, five volcanic earthquakes in a day will not increase in volcano Canlaon.
02:09 But last May 26, there were 24 volcanic earthquakes. That's the reason why we released an advisory.
02:14 Where in Negros Island is the most dangerous now?
02:19 We have areas that are included in the four-kilometer permanent danger zone.
02:30 There are barangays that are included in La Castellana, barangays in San Carlos City, there are barangays in Baguio City,
02:38 there are four barangays in Canlaon City and two barangays in La Carlota City that are included in the permanent danger zone.
02:47 These are the dangerous areas. There should be no people here.
02:51 Director, can you remind the residents who live near Canlaon, did you do evacuation?
02:57 The LGUs in La Carlota City evacuated yesterday.
03:04 But we are reminding our countrymen around Canlaon volcano to observe the permanent danger zone,
03:12 which is four kilometers from the crater of the volcano.
03:15 Do not enter the crater to minimize risk from satellite explosions, rock falls or landslides.
03:21 If there's volcanic ash or any kind of smell, they have to wear face masks.
03:29 In the ash fall. Thank you very much Phoenix Director Teresito Bacolcol. Be careful.
03:35 Thank you very much as well.
03:37 Thank you.
