Five family members of the Ulu Tiram police station attacker have been charged at the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Wednesday (June 19) with a total of nine charges between them.

They are Radin Imran Radin Mohd Yassin, 62; his Singaporean wife, Rosna Jantan, 59; and their children Radin Romyullah Radin Imran, 34, Farhah Sobrina Radin Imran, 23, and Mariah Radin Imran, 19.

00:00Five family members of the Ulu Tiram police station attacker were charged at the Johor
00:07Baru Sessions Court on Wednesday, with a total of nine terrorism-related charges between
00:12them. Sixty-two-year-old Radin Imran Radin Mohamed Yassin, his Singaporean wife, fifty-nine-year-old
00:20Rosna Jantan and their children thirty-four-year-old Radin Romula, twenty-three-year-old Farha
00:26Sabrina and nineteen-year-old Mariah were brought to the court under heavy police security.
00:32The family, who were not represented, were charged before Sessions Court Judge Datuk
00:37Chewan Zaidi Chewan Ibrahim. Radin Imran was slapped with four charges. The first charge
00:44was for allegedly encouraging terrorist acts by incorporating the Islamic State's ideology
00:49into his family, including the attacker Radin Luqman between the end of 2014 and May 17,
00:562024, at a house along Jalan Rabani in Kampung Sungai Tiram. The second charge states that
01:02he supported terrorism by storing four homemade air rifles for Islamic State activities at
01:09the same location on May 17. The third charge states that he pledged loyalty to Islamic
01:14State head Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi at the same location at the end of 2014. For the fourth
01:21charge, Radin Imran was accused of possessing a book titled Haqiqat Islam and Haqiqat Shirk
01:29by Abu Sulaiman Aman Abdur Rahman, linked to the Islamic State, at the same location
01:34on May 17 and May 19. Meanwhile, his son, Radin Romula, was charged with two offences,
01:41which included swearing allegiance to Abu Bakar al-Baghdadi and possessing an external
01:46hard disk containing materials related to the Islamic State and its activities during
01:51the same period. Rosna and her daughters Farha, Sobrina and Maraya were charged with
01:58deliberately omitting to provide information regarding crimes related to the ideology of
02:04terrorism. They allegedly committed this offence at the same location between April 2017 and
02:13May 17. All five understood the charges against them, and the court fixed July 31 for the
02:20case re-mention. No bail was offered, and Chewan Zaidi advised the family to appoint
02:26a lawyer or represent themselves.
02:29In the Ulu-Tiram police station attack on May 17, two policemen, Constable Ahmad Azza
02:35Fahmi Azhar and Constable Muhammad Shafiq Ahmad Saeed, were killed. Another police officer,
02:41Corporal Muhammad Hasif Roslan, was injured by two gunshots to the shoulder and hip.
