00:00A Seacroft supermarket could be demolished to make way for a bigger store under expansion
00:07plans by a frozen food retailer. Farm Food has applied for planning permission to redevelop
00:12its site on York Road. The company said the plan would improve the appearance of the site
00:17and help it compete with nearby stores. Leeds City Council will consider an application
00:23to redevelop the existing building and a separate retail unit currently used by a charity shop.
00:29The new store would be a single storey retail unit with new pedestrian access, parking and
00:35solar panels. Retail floor space would be increased by around 120 square metres and
00:41the scheme would create up to 10 jobs. The planning statement says that the proposed
00:46development will result in significant economic and employment benefits for Seacroft and nearby
00:50areas and during the construction works all existing staff will be temporarily redeployed
00:56to other local Farm Food stores.
