00:10Sergio Rodrigo, our correspondent, provides more details.
00:16Good morning to the Telesur audience from the border crossing of the Chinese neighborhood of the Autonomous City of Melilla in Africa.
00:23Here, two years ago, at least 23 people died and according to the NGOs,
00:27there were 30 deaths by the time around
00:321,300 migrants approached this border crossing trying to circumvent this fence, the Melilla fence.
00:40Testimonies of some survivors and the lawsuit that has been filed by different groups against the Spanish authorities
00:46revealed they had been forced to practically abandon the migrant camps from Mount Gurugu,
00:52where many of the people are hiding out to try to emigrate to Europe.
00:57They got to those camps, which turned into a nightmare as the Spanish-Moroccan
01:03authorities applied tear gas and anti-riot material that claimed the lives of at least
01:0923 people, according to the Spanish authorities.
01:11The local Moroccan NGOs reported 37 deaths. Up to now,
01:1777 people are still missing.
01:20Two years later, a court in Melilla continues an investigation which some plaintiffs said is still slow.
01:27But the truth is that two years later, there has been no accountability or policy for the Melilla massacre,
01:34which is now two years old and in which the cops have asked for doing justice to those who continue to
01:41circumvent and try to find a safe place, as was the case of those citizens
01:46mostly from Sudan and Chad. Lots of them, up to 400,
01:51were expelled using brutal force despite reaching the territory of the European Union.
