00:00LPEats, hello. Welcome to our first burger review. Now, we're on the way over to Tipsy
00:12Chef, the other side of Preston. I'm just down near the Union at the minute. So, heading
00:17across town to check it out. Really excited about this one because it's just so highly
00:20rated. It's got such a good reputation locally. The menu looks pretty good. I'm very excited
00:26about this. Happy to be moving away from kebabs and trying something a bit different. So,
00:31let's crack on and let's see what our first burger's looking like.
00:43Right, burger fans. So, you join us with me having just walked into Tipsy Chef. Now, the
00:49burger review is to come and don't worry, there will be plenty of footage of dripping
00:53burgers, you know, your classical food porn. But, let's do the review first. Now, the place
00:59itself, the venue, absolutely immaculate. It's one of those classic, kind of like up
01:04and coming, chic, dead modern, dead groovy, dead cool burger joints which you find in
01:09a lot of city centres these days. So, the vibes were really, really good. Cool music,
01:13cool people, friendly staff. Everything was immaculate. Every surface was dead clean.
01:17I feel like we've eaten burger patty off basically every surface in there. So, very clean, very
01:22kind of like cool and hip. That was the vibe in there. So, they get a 5 out of 5 for the
01:26vibe in there. Onto the food itself. Now, as you'll be able to see, the burgers in there
01:32looked incredible. Smelled good. Everything about them was just, this is brilliant. Let's
01:37get stuck in. So, to go into our first kind of category in this review, first thing we
01:42look at is the meat itself. Now, this was a smashed burger, so the burger patties were
01:46a little thinner than you'd normally expect from a classic burger. So, it didn't naturally
01:51have that kind of proper juiciness that you want from a burger. When you proper bite in
01:55and it's juicy, you get the seasoning, you get the meat, you get beefiness, you get chargrilled
01:59flavours, all these things. Didn't necessarily have that juiciness by dint of it being a
02:03smashed burger, but did have a really nice meaty taste. Did have a really kind of like
02:07distinct flavour. Yeah, very good on that front. Like I say, the only way I'm going
02:12to slightly mark it down is that it just didn't have that proper juicy kick to it, which does
02:17come by just the fact that it was a smashed burger. So, 3.5 out of 5 on the beef itself.
02:22On to the moisture of the burger overall, because like we said, the worst thing you
02:26can have when it comes to burgers is dryness. You don't want dry bread, you don't want dry
02:30meat, you don't want dry anything. So, the moisture in this thing was amazing. It's 4.5
02:34out of 5. The sauce was contributing, the dead mustardy, dead tangy, dead flavourful.
02:39The burger itself, while like I say, it wasn't flooding your mouth with moisture or anything
02:44like that, it wasn't dry. So, it was nice, it was good. Lots of melted cheese on there
02:48as well, that was also a nice little addition. Salad was quite fresh and kind of cut into
02:52the meat itself, the warmth of the meat itself with a bit of coolness as well. So, that was
02:56really good. So, yeah, moisture 4.5 out of 5, that's always good. On to the extras.
03:01The sauce on this was very, very nice. I will say that the kind of overwhelming mustardy
03:07nature of the sauce did slightly detract from the beefy flavour, which you're really looking
03:11for from a classic burger. So, slight mark down on that front, but they do get plus
03:17marks on two main fronts. Obviously, well three if you include the sauce just being
03:21nice, just a little overwhelming. The other two were, the salad was very nice and the
03:26tomatoes didn't do that thing which you hate when you take a big bite of a burger, you
03:30pull away and half a tomato comes back with it and you're stringing, you're fighting
03:32with it, it drops down your white shirt. Well annoying. To be honest, this didn't do that.
03:36Don't know how they managed that, but they didn't do it. It was great. The other thing
03:40is that there is bacon crumb on the sauce as well. So, that was a nice little thing
03:44as well. That was a different texture, that was a different flavour, that was a bit of
03:46zinginess as well, which was very welcome. So, they get 3.5 out of 5 on the sauces. I
03:51might have been a little harsh there, but I'm sticking with my score.
03:54Finally, on to the value of the burger. It cost me £9. That was just for a burger, which
04:01burger and fries, it's Simon and Garfunkel, strawberries and cream, you've got to have
04:04one or the other.
04:06Hi guys. I don't know what that guy's talking about. I said Simon and Garfunkel, you've
04:10got to have them together. I mean, poor Simon was quite successful on his own. So, had to
04:15interject. Apologies for the slip of the tongue. Back to the review.
04:18That's how it goes. I don't make the rules. These are the unimpeachable kind of twins
04:23in the food world. The good ones have got to come with the other and this was just a
04:26burger and it's on. So, I felt that it was on the more expensive side for just a burger,
04:30but I've got to say, it was a seriously good burger. Like, I'd genuinely go back and get
04:36another. It was very, very good. So, the value is a 3 out of 5 because I felt like for that
04:41kind of price, you probably would want to chuck some fries in there as well, but it
04:44was really good. So, I'm compromising. I'm compromising. That gives Tipsy Chef a total
04:49score of 19.5 out of 25, which is a very healthy start to our new season of Healthy Eats. So
04:56yeah, thanks for watching. Hopefully, this will have got your mouth watering. Give us
04:59some recommendations for places you want to try and go and check out Tipsy Chef because
05:04I don't think you'll be disappointed in the slightest. Cheers.
