00:00Hey guys it's Tiana and I'm here in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming to show you
00:11guys what it's actually like to stay on a real life bonafide dude ranch.
00:25On this trip I stayed at the century old Lost Creek Ranch, one of the only dude ranches
00:28actually inside Grand Teton National Park.
00:31There is probably no better view of the Grand Teton range than the one you get here.
00:35Fun fact, it's so scenic that it was even featured on an episode of Modern Family.
00:39Lost Creek is also roughly 30 minutes away from famous sites like Jenny Lake and the
00:42Moulton Barn.
00:44Some of the guest cabins are roughly 100 years old with rocking chairs and cozy down comforters.
00:48They serve meals in this dining room with views of the Tetons and beneath covered wagons
00:51in their fireside cookout area.
00:53But since I was here to brush up on my cowboy skills, I spent most of my time down at Lost
00:57Creek's barn.
01:15The best thing about staying on a dude ranch is that you'll get to experience the wild
01:18west as it should be from on top of a horse.
01:21At Lost Creek you don't have to have any previous experience, take it from me I live and work
01:25in Brooklyn, New York, essentially meaning I could not be further from a cowboy if I
01:28tried.
01:29At the start of your trip you'll get matched with a trusty steed, I got paired with this
01:32sweet girl named Muffin for the week.
01:35Together we rode down winding hillsides, across rivers, through fields filled with elk, and
01:38eventually to this scenic riverside picnic spot during an all day ride.
01:42You'll also get to see the ranch hands at work as they rope cattle and lope across rivers
01:46and through massive pastures.
01:47But there are even more cowboy experiences on the way.
01:53About 30 minutes from the ranch, the Jackson Hole Rodeo has been around for over 130 years.
01:58This was, in fact, my first rodeo, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but every competition
02:02blew me away from the barrel racing, bareback riding, and steer roping to the bull riding.
02:09Back at the ranch there's even more to do, including skeet shooting, line dancing, and
02:12watching horses being released at sunset and sent out to pasture for the night.
02:16There are also scenic float trips along the Snake River with guides like Keith Jardine
02:20who showed us some of the park's most impressive scenes from the water.
02:26If you plan on visiting Wyoming, here are a few tips to ensure a great trip.
02:30First plan on investing in some solid cowboy boots and a hat.
02:33Yes, they look stylish, but they will genuinely keep you comfortable.
02:37You'll also want to bring layers and cold weather wear since temperatures can dip down
02:40into the 40s.
02:41Overall, if you want to not only check out Grand Teton National Park, but get the full
02:45Wild Western experience, a stay on a dude ranch is hands down the best way to do it.
