00:00So, the locals are at the heart of this business?
00:02Without a doubt.
00:03My name is Angus McLeod, I'm the co-owner of Tebow Bistro.
00:07Well, Tebow's been going on the go nearly 15 years now,
00:10and we founded it on the basis of supplying good food to the locals.
00:15Previously in the financial industry, I've always been interested in food.
00:20Everybody that works in here are foodies.
00:22My son David runs a kitchen, self-trained,
00:26and the ethos of the business is to produce good quality, handmade food for the locals.
00:33Well, it's a very cosmopolitan area,
00:35with a lot of professionals, a lot of students,
00:39and a lot of the so-called middle classes as well, if that's what you wish to call them.
00:45Good sound basis of all-round clientele.
00:48It also helps the fact that Duke Street's a very busy road,
00:52and it's one of the last bastions left in Glasgow.
00:56I'm an old Glasgow boy myself,
00:59and the East End of Glasgow's still virtually untouched in most places.
01:03Well, it's certainly come on a lot in being a cosmopolitan area,
01:07and being so close to the city.
01:10A lot of people like to stay here, within 10 minutes walking distance.
01:15It's still a good parking area, there's still a good, decent mix of shops.
01:20Although we could always do with higher quality shops,
01:24but you'll very rarely find empty shops in Duke Street.
01:27Well, they expect a very chilled-out place, that's what the business is all about.
01:31It's a chilled-out place, good homemade food,
01:35good service, good banter, and that's what we're all about.
01:39We don't need to recommend anything, customers know about Tebow now.
01:43It took us a while to build the business up.
01:45Most people know about Tebow in Glasgow, including the taxi drivers,
01:48who take people from the city, who take people from Glasgow Airport,
01:52if they ask for a recommendation of food.
01:55We don't have a huge menu, we have a restricted menu.
01:59It's all good quality food.
02:01We do lunches, we do breakfast products, we do lunch products,
02:05and we always had an evening menu.
02:07And although we've been closed for the last couple of years,
02:10due to unforeseen circumstances,
02:12a lot of the evening dishes were incorporated in the daytime.
02:15So we're now going to be separating and having separate menus again.
02:18Is there any other places around Tebow that you'd maybe go to on a day off?
02:23Personally? Don't be silly.
02:25There's lots of good evening establishments in the East End.
02:28As you say, Coes are long established.
02:30There's Mesa further along the road, who are quite similar in the ethos to us.
02:36Lots of nice wee cafes, nice wee bakeries now.
02:40So there's a good choice of products for customers to come here.
02:44We've got a dessert shop at the end of Duke Street there as well.
02:48There's also a selection of pretty businesses up in the Parade.
02:52And then you go down to Bridgeton.
02:54So the East End's well served by good quality, small businesses.
03:00And that, to me, is the way it should be.
