00:00HRD Corp's use of Employer Levy collections for investments did not align with the fund's
00:09original purpose.
00:11This is what Malaysian Trades Union Congress Secretary-General Kamarul Baharin Mansoor
00:17said after it was found that RM3.77 billion from Employer Levy's collection had been
00:24used for investments.
00:26Kamarul said this move has indirectly affected efforts to enhance workers' skills nationwide,
00:32Sinah Haryan reported.
00:34He called the Public Accounts Committee's finding shocking and disappointing, saying
00:39that those funds should have been used for training programs.
00:43Kamarul said he hoped the matter would be thoroughly investigated so it does not happen
00:47again.
00:48He also said some union members revealed that they have worked at a company for 10 years
00:54but have never been sent to any skill enhancement courses.
00:59In response, Kamarul suggested that HRD Corp open applications for training programs to
01:04trade unions and employees, instead of just being through employers.
