With the summer holidays just around the corner, we’re taking a look at everything we can all be getting up to all around Cardiff. From special events taking place in the city, to our fantastic parks, but first, I’m here in Cardiff bay taking a look at the family fun park, which is set to open for the whole of the holidays.

00:00There really aren't many better places to visit in the summer than Cardiff.
00:06We've got a bit of everything depending on the weather and what you're looking for.
00:10When it comes to doing things with the kids, Cardiff is jam-packed through the summer with
00:14a number of different events taking place, of course, just like down in Cardiff Bay.
00:21It isn't quite ready yet, it's all getting set up, but this family fun park has a little
00:24bit of everything.
00:25From rides to games to food, it's so much easier to make a full day of it.
00:29Plus, with it being in the centre of Cardiff Bay, here in the Roald Dahl Plaas, you can
00:32visit the rest of the bay at the same time.
00:37And it is certainly not just the fun park though that's great in the summer in Cardiff
00:40Bay.
00:41With boat trips around the marina, plenty of places to walk around, and of course, loads
00:45of places to eat and drink, Cardiff Bay is always one of the most popular places to visit
00:49in Cardiff in the summer, and even on days like this, it really is magnificent.
00:57And this Ferris wheel has become a bit of a staple for Cardiff Bay, and you can see
01:00for miles up there, so it's a great opportunity to take in all of Cardiff and everything you
01:04can do while enjoying your time in the bay.
01:09And something Cardiff Bay hasn't seen on this sort of scale ever before, the Bay Series
01:13will bring some world-renowned music acts to the waterfront in what is going to be an
01:16incredible music of summer.
01:19Featuring the one and only Muck Fly, New Order, Becky Hill, Tiesto, and later on in the summer,
01:24Mike Skinner aka The Streets will also be coming to Cardiff Bay.
01:30And speaking of iconic places around Cardiff welcoming some massive musical acts, Cardiff
01:34Castle still has plenty to go this summer.
01:38After welcoming a number of festivals and acts like Avril Lavigne, next up are some
01:42incredible names coming to the centuries-old castle.
01:46We've got Madness, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Wales' own Catfish and the Bottlemen,
01:51before hosting Depot Festival with loads of names in the line-up, including Anne-Marie.
01:57It seems everywhere you look, you can find some music going on in Cardiff this summer.
02:03Then there's all of Cardiff's amazing parks, where the price for packing a picnic at home
02:07and transport, you can have a full day out.
02:10Roath Park is full of different things to do, from getting out on the pedlos on the
02:13lake, to the massive play areas, to the conservatory which is full of different plants and animals.
02:20And then of course, Bute Park is a classic with plenty of space to play around and have
02:24a picnic and explore all of the trees and different parts of the park.
02:28And of course, there's no forgetting one of the most iconic parts of Cardiff, and I suppose
02:35in fairness there might be a dispute over whether it's Cardiff or not, but it's definitely
02:39in the Greater Cardiff area, you've got Barry Island.
02:43It's one of the summer destinations anywhere in Wales, and definitely the rest of the UK,
02:48and a favourite for any South Wales trip to the beach.
02:52Needless to say, if you're looking for any kind of day out in Cardiff, you'll be able
02:55to find it somewhere in the city.
