00:00We're getting closer and closer to Halloween, and plenty of us will be having some pumpkin
00:05picking plans or ghost tours coming up, so we're taking a look at what we can be getting
00:10up to this October to celebrate spooky season.
00:13There's absolutely loads going on, so we'll be taking a look at just some of the highlights
00:18around Cardiff and the rest of South Wales, with pumpkin festivals to ghost trains, there's
00:23something for everyone, whether you're looking to get a scare or just a bit of family fun.
00:28One place in South Wales that really comes into its own through Halloween is the little
00:32known museum of oddities called The Morbitorium, in Pontywain, just north of Newport.
00:37The little museum is open all year round, but of course there's no time like Halloween
00:41to go and explore some of the weirdest things you'll see in a museum, from a collection
00:45of Ouija boards, to Victorian medical equipment, to taxidermied animals.
00:50And throughout October, they're hosting some special one-off events.
00:54The Morbitorium is my collection of oddities, it's been growing steadily for 10 years, and
01:01it's always spooky, but it's Halloween time, so it's even spookier now.
01:06So yeah, you can see the cobwebs are up, the pumpkins are out, spiderwebs up the front
01:12as well, so we're all geared up, ready for Halloween.
01:15Just before Halloween, they're hosting a haunting tour, where you can use the Ouija board to
01:19explore some of the eerie goings-on around the museum, and much more.
01:24They've also got plenty of pumpkin patches around Cardiff, and one which has a number
01:28of huge fields to explore and find the pumpkin which is right for you, is Clearwell Farm.
01:34It's a working farm which is open every weekend through, until Halloween, with a spooky display
01:38in the main barn, and a fleet of wheelbarrows you can take around to find the biggest and
01:42best pumpkins, ready to be carved when you get home.
01:46This is our display barn, and we've got a smoking dragon at the back, we've got a few
01:50witches and a couple of ghosts hanging around, a spider's web, make sure you don't get caught
01:56in the spider's web, and it's just pretty for people to look at.
02:00And if it rains, they can just come straight to the barn and get one.
02:04Cardiff's Halloween Festival is also a popular new event which has grown massively in the
02:08last few years.
02:10It has a cornfield, pumpkin patches, mazes, games, bars for a really exciting day out
02:15with the family, to get in the Halloween spirit.
02:18But speaking from experience, you'll definitely need wellies for this one.
02:23There's live performances, street food, and even fairground rides, so this can be a full
02:27day out with the family.
02:28St Fagans will also be hosting their very own Halloween event on the few days around
02:33the big day.
02:34After nightfall, the whole site is full of different characters taking you through the
02:38museum telling ghostly tales of their lives.
02:42There's Halloween crafting, Halloween decorations, and it all comes together for an amazing show
02:46at the end where all the characters join in to burn down the Wicker Man as we bring
02:50in the winter and say goodbye to the warmer months.
02:53So there's so much to be getting up to all around the area this Halloween, you've just
02:57got to go out and find it.
