00:06Edward is a very wise engine.
00:11He knows all about the Fat Controller's railway.
00:20The other engines know they can always ask Edward for help.
00:26One morning, the Fat Controller came to Tidmouth Sheds.
00:32Percy has broken down. He's at the repair yard.
00:36Boomed the Fat Controller.
00:38I need another engine to take the mail.
00:41Edward could do it, chirruped Emily.
00:44Yes, huffed Henry.
00:46Edward knows how to do everything.
00:48Good idea, said the Fat Controller.
00:51But Edward had never taken the mail before.
00:53Sir Topham Hatt told Edward to collect the parcels and deliver them just like Percy.
01:01Edward wanted to ask how Percy would deliver the mail.
01:05But he didn't want to look silly.
01:08I don't want the Fat Controller to think I can't deliver the mail, puffed Edward.
01:13I'll have to work out how to do it by myself.
01:17When Edward arrived at the mail depot, the Station Master was waiting for him.
01:23You have lots of parcels to deliver today, said the Station Master.
01:28Some for Farmer MacColl, some for the children's party at Maithwaite and some more for the school.
01:34Edward didn't know which of the parcels to deliver first.
01:38Maybe I should go to Farmer MacColl's, Edward sighed.
01:42Or maybe to school.
01:46Edward puffed up to a junction.
01:49Thomas was waiting.
01:51Hello Edward, chuffed Thomas.
01:54Are you delivering the mail today?
01:57Er, yes, puffed Edward.
02:00You'll deliver the mail today, said Thomas.
02:04Er, yes, puffed Edward.
02:07You'll be good at that, tooted Thomas.
02:11Edward really wanted to ask Thomas which parcels he should deliver first.
02:16But Edward didn't want to look silly.
02:19The signal changed.
02:21Edward watched Thomas puff away.
02:24He was worried.
02:26Everyone thinks I know how to do everything, Edward moaned.
02:31I hope I can get it right.
02:34Edward decided to take the parcels to the children's party first.
02:43But Edward didn't know that Percy delivered the parcels in a special order.
02:50He accidentally left Farmer MacColl's parcels with the children.
02:55And he whooshed away.
02:57Edward puffed across the countryside.
03:06Next, he delivered some parcels to the school.
03:17And finally, he delivered the rest of the parcels to Farmer MacColl.
03:22That was easy, chuffed Edward.
03:25I made all the deliveries, and I didn't have to ask anyone how to do it.
03:29He felt very proud and very relieved.
03:33But the Fat Controller was getting lots of phone calls.
03:37Edward had delivered the wrong parcels to the wrong places.
03:42When Edward found out what he had done,
03:45he was very angry.
03:47I'll have to deliver them again, he wished sadly.
03:51Edward knew everyone was waiting for their parcels.
03:55He would have to hurry.
03:57First, Edward collected the parcels from the children's party.
04:04Then, he collected the parcels from the school.
04:08Now I have to collect the parcels from the children's party.

04:15Now I have to collect the parcels from Farmer MacColl, puffed Edward.
04:19And he steamed away.
04:25Edward was unhappy.
04:28I must not be late with these deliveries, he chuffed.

04:39Edward raced on.

04:45But then, Edward had to stop at a junction.
04:49He didn't know which way was the fastest track to take to the farm.
04:54Edward was in such a rush, he didn't ask the signalman.
04:59Stop, shouted the signalman. That track is closed.
05:02Edward rattled round a bend and straight into a barrier.
05:09Parcels flew everywhere.
05:13I'll never deliver the parcels on time now, he moaned.
05:18Edward felt terrible.
05:21Soon, the parcels were loaded back into Edward's trucks.
05:26Edward knew now he had to stop.
05:28Back into Edward's trucks.
05:31Edward knew now he had to ask for help.
05:34I must find Percy. I will ask him what to do.
05:38So Edward steamed off to the repair yard.
05:53Percy was still being fixed.
05:58Percy, will you tell me how to deliver the mail?
06:02Edward chuffed.
06:04Of course I will, peeped Percy.
06:07He didn't think Edward was silly for asking at all.
06:11I deliver the parcels in a special order.
06:14I always start with the delivery that is furthest away, puffed Percy.
06:18Then I work my way back to Tidmouth Sheds.
06:22Edward was very happy he had asked Percy what to do.
06:26So Edward puffed across the island.
06:30Now he knew how to deliver all the parcels in the right order.
06:35The children got their parcels in time for the party.
06:39The right parcels were delivered to the school.
06:43And Farmer McColl was very pleased.
06:48Everyone was happy.
06:51Everyone knew Edward was a wise engine.
06:53But now Edward felt even wiser.
