00:07escort wants the perpetrator to be charged in court.
00:11Deaf Advocacy and Wellbeing National Organization co-founder Anthony Chong said he was disappointed
00:16with the lack of action from the authorities, despite clear evidence and testimonies from
00:21witnesses.
00:23The group, which submitted a memorandum to the Attorney General's Chambers this morning,
00:27wants immediate and decisive action to be taken against the suspect.
00:32Chong said that by doing so, the AGC will reinforce its commitment to justice and equality,
00:37ensuring that the deaf community feels safe and supported by the legal system.
00:42On May 28, e-hailing driver Ong In-kyong, who is deaf and mute, was reportedly assaulted
00:48by the perpetrator while waiting to pick up passengers at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
00:53The perpetrator was allegedly a police escort to Johor region, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
