00:00Manchester City have confirmed their first summer signing of the transfer window.
00:04I think City fans were desperate to get one over the line with a lot of other clubs making moves in the market.
00:09But on Thursday night, City did confirm that first arrival of the summer with Savino joining from Troyes.
00:15Now a little bit of doubt actually what his name is. Is it Savio or is it Savino?
00:20But the player himself confirmed that he prefers Savino.
00:22So at least for the time being, that's what I'm going to go with.
00:25But he has joined from, as I mentioned, Troyes for a fee of up to 40 million euro.
00:30There's an initial 25 million euro fee paid now and a potential 15 in add-on.
00:35So I think that's quite a good price for a player who's 20 years old, Brazilian international and impressed last year in La Liga.
00:42But given that Troyes are one of City's sister clubs, that fee did have to be independently verified and checked by the Premier League.
00:49But they were happy with the 40 million pound fee that that was fair market value.
00:54He joined City on a five-year contract and is going to remain with the club going into the new campaign.
00:59There were reports that he potentially would look to move out on loan.
01:03There were reports earlier this year that that might be the case.
01:05But he is going to remain with the City squad this season and provide competition for places in the wide areas.
01:11And Pep Guardiola, he's certainly not short of options in those positions.
01:14He's got Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bob, who I would say are natural wingers.
01:18But he's also got Phil Foden and Oscar Bernardo Silva, who both played in those positions quite a lot last season actually.
01:25So it'll be interesting.
01:26And I mean, I think that perhaps it does mean that Foden and Silva will play in those midfield roles a little bit more often going into the campaign.
01:34But plenty of options for Pep Guardiola to choose from.
01:37And Savino, he can play left wing, he can play right wing.
01:39He has played in the centre as well a little bit, but I don't think we'll see that this season.
01:43And I do think it'll be a campaign that he'll be giving time to bed into the squad.
01:46Very often Pep Guardiola signings don't initially hit the ground running.
01:49It does take them a few months, even perhaps a season, to really get up to grips with the sort of football that Guardiola is expecting from his players.
01:56So I think City fans will need a little bit of patience for a 20-year-old who is still pretty raw, still got a lot of room for potential.
02:03But obviously City really, really highly rate him.
02:05And I think it's a very exciting summer transfer.
02:08At least because he is an attacking winger who will bring plenty of flair and incision to City's play.
02:14Perhaps a little bit similar to Jeremy Doku.
02:16And it'll be interesting to see how he is best utilised over the course of the campaign.
02:21And then one final note from me is that he has taken the number 26 shirt to Savino.
02:25Previously worn by Riyad Mahrez, a player that he said he really admires and really looked up to when he was a youngster growing up.
02:32So he's taken that number 26 shirt and a very exciting transfer, I do think, for Manchester City.
