कोलकाता में टीएमसी की शहीद दिवस रैली में समाजवादी पार्टी के प्रमुख अखिलेश यादव ने कहा, "मैं देख रहा था कि दीदी (ममता बनर्जी) अपने कार्यकर्ताओं को देखकर खुशी की भावना के साथ उनसे जुड़ने की कोशिश कर रही थीं। एक नेता और कार्यकर्ताओं के बीच यह बंधन ही पार्टी को मजबूत करता है. क्योंकि आज हम दुखी मन से जो शहीद हुए हैं उनको याद कर रहे हैं. अखिलेश यादव ने कहा, मैं कहना चाहता हूं कि 'जुल्म की खिलाफत में जो जान दाव पर लगाते हैं, वो इतिहास में शहीदों की तरह याद किए जाते हैं'.
