00:00Yesterday, it was Ryan Day's turn as the Ohio State Buckeyes are the favorites to win the
00:09Big Ten this year.
00:10Ryan, of course, wants to be able to beat Michigan for the first time in a while as
00:15well.
00:16He understands, Scotty, all the hype that is surrounding his Buckeye team.
00:21You know, our focus is on this preseason, it's the next step, and I'm sure a lot of
00:27coaches will say it, you can't really focus on what happened the year before, you can't
00:32get too worried about what's coming down the road, but we all know there's a lot of noise
00:36and a lot of hype around this team, and what we can't do is let those distractions grab
00:41our focus from what we need to do day in and day out.
00:44We know it's going to be a long season, but we've got to have a great preseason.
00:47We've got to have a physical preseason, we've got to lay that foundation for what's going
00:51to come as we head throughout the season, but we're very, very excited about our guys,
00:57we have great experience in that locker room, and some great talent.
01:01But it's going to take more than talent, it's going to take all the no-talent issues to
01:03get to where we want to be and reach our goals.
01:05Who's he kidding, preseason my ass, this guy, if he doesn't play for a national championship,
01:15and that means he has to beat Michigan, and if he doesn't go to that playoff and play
01:19for a national championship, there's going to be massive rumblings to get him fired in
01:24Columbus, because this team is absolutely stacked, loaded at every position on the field,
01:33they have the best receivers in college football, they have everything.
01:39But what I want to see is, frankly, them go to Outsen Stadium in week two against Oregon
01:46and lose, and anyone else that wants to beat them along the way, I'd love to see it.
01:52Like I want nothing more.
01:53All I hear about is Ohio State and Georgia, right, like that's all you hear about.
02:01There's more than that in the SEC.
02:03We hear about, you know, Texas, it goes on and on, Ole Miss, even Alabama, but you hear
02:10about Ohio State being the team, right, that it's Ohio State and Ryan Day, and they've
02:16lost three in a row to Michigan, and I think he's got one thing going for him, Jim Harbaugh
02:21is not there anymore.
02:23So once Harbaugh figured him out, and he started losing to Michigan, then the fans
02:27turned on him, and anything short of a national championship, I think in Columbus and Ryan
02:31Day is in trouble.
02:34I agree with you.
02:35I think he absolutely needs to get the job done this year.
02:39You're right, they do take that trip to Oregon.
02:41That is on Saturday, October the 12th.
02:44They also, of course, play Michigan, they play Penn State, they go to Happy Valley this
02:48year, so two tough road games for Ohio State in the Big Ten Conference.
02:52Now remember this, we might have forgot this during the offseason, Chip Kelly quit as the
02:57head coach at UCLA to go be the offensive coordinator for Ryan Day in Columbus.
03:05Now Ryan Day played for Chip Kelly in New Hampshire, Scotty, so they have a connection
03:11from very far back.
03:13Day trusts Kelly more than anyone else he's ever met in his entire life.
03:18Here we go.
03:19I think what he brings, for me turning it over, I really wanted to have somebody that
03:25had head coaching experience.
03:28Never thought that you'd have somebody that was a head coach the way he has been in college
03:31and in the NFL in that background, and so it allows me a little more of a peace of mind
03:40and certainly a lot of trust there.
03:41I trust Chip with my life, and that's a big part of any time you're handing something
03:46over like that, that you've done almost your entire career.
03:50I cannot believe for the life of me that he left UCLA as the head coach in the Big Ten
03:59to go be the offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
04:02I gotta tell you, I don't care if they're lovers.
04:07I don't care if they're best friends, lovers, he was his coach, all the rest.
04:11I have told you before, you gotta be nuts to walk away from Westwood and UCLA as a basketball
04:20or football coach.
04:21If you have that job and they haven't fired you, you don't walk away from that place.
04:26I'm sorry.
04:28I know Ohio State is a great football school and all the rest, but let me tell you something.
04:34On its best day, it can't hold UCLA's onions.
04:39I'm telling you, I used to troll that campus.
04:43I drove around, I did 15 miles an hour.
04:45I was like, oh my God, Jesus, what in the name, oh, look at that, oh my God.
04:50I was talking to myself in the car.
04:53It was like, I've never seen anything like it.
04:55It's the most beautiful place on earth and you're coaching at the Rose Bowl in the Big
05:00Ten and you want to go be an offensive coordinator?
05:03You were a head coach in the NFL and a head coach at UCLA and you want to be an offensive
05:06coordinator at Ohio State?
05:09I mean, he must've been drunk.
05:10Honestly, Carver High, I don't care if your team stinks, I still wouldn't leave UCLA for anything.
