00:00The night cap was all Buckeyes at the Shoe in Columbus.
00:07Ohio State hammering Tennessee in the 8-9 matchup, 42-17.
00:13The Bucs cover as a 7.5 point home favorite.
00:17A total that was our lowest of the four games in the opening round, skies over 46.5.
00:23All four home teams victorious, of course, in the first round of the CFP.
00:28All four home teams booked as the favorite.
00:31All four home teams covered.
00:32A perfect 4-0 against the spread.
00:35First two games under, we saw a lot of scoring in our final two, capped off by maybe the
00:40most impressive performance Ohio State has seen this season.
00:43Yeah, about a million different things we can do with this game here.
00:46Let's go to the Ohio State side of it.
00:49I'll do what Kirk should do, okay?
00:53That being Herbstreit.
00:54Yes.
00:56He said, oh, well, what are they, or excuse me, actually really more so what Shannon should
01:00have done, right?
01:02Instead of threatening to beat up your colleague, why don't you come out and say, congrats Ohio
01:10State for winning a first round playoff game that ultimately you were in because we expanded.
01:15This isn't the level at which we judge Ohio State on.
01:19Next game against Oregon is where we will decide whether or not Ryan Day should keep
01:24this job because quite frankly, going out against Tennessee, throwing the football all
01:28over the field, which is obviously what you should have done against Michigan, does suggest
01:33that they own an insane amount of real estate within your head, or you don't know how to
01:38prepare for Michigan, and that is a problem.
01:41Again, not, you don't want to mess with, I'm just saying, that's not a sports conversation
01:47because it is fair to question Ryan Day's status going into that game.
01:52It is unsurprising that people then went, now what?
01:56But the follow-up is, now the Rose Bowl, like, is Ohio State's season a success by any measure
02:03to any reasonable person?
02:05No, not at all, not at all, and they're going to have to prove it against Oregon because
02:09they are heading into this matchup, Oregon is still, in my opinion, the most complete
02:14team heading into the playoffs.
02:15We'll see how that game plays out, but I will give props.
02:18Bill Howard stepped up, 317 yards, 80% completion percentage, two touchdowns, one interception.
02:25Defensively, they shut down Dylan Samson, and the rushing attack for much of the game
02:29put the pressure on Nico.
02:32Dylan Samson was injured.
02:33Yes, yes, but what I'm saying is the rushing attack still was not a main component of that
02:40offense.
02:41They trailed 21 to nothing and then, you know, got 10 garbage points in the second quarter
02:45and were never, you know, left for dead in the second half.
02:49That is the defense that needs to bring it against Oregon in terms of this matchup if
02:53they're going to win the game.
02:54That's easier said than done.
02:56Again, that's not the base and success for Ohio State, but I'll just say this, Tennessee,
03:03paper tiger.
03:04You come out walking with no shirts on.
03:06You need a better effort.
03:07I mean, you want to show up your opponent on their field.
03:09You need a much better effort in the trenches.
03:12That wasn't SEC football, and they didn't deserve to be in the playoff.
