Cops arrest over 100 suspects during Ops Lejang in Johor

Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar told a press conference on Thursday (July 25) that they had detained over 100 suspects in a month-long statewide operation to combat vehicular theft in the state.

00:00This is one of the motorcycles that were kidnapped.
00:05On 21st June, an operation was launched.
00:10We call it OPS Lejang.
00:12The purpose of this operation is to prevent crimes from spreading,
00:21especially property crimes involving the theft of vehicles.
00:27The focus of the operation is to identify and arrest the suspects
00:35involved in the inspection of car workshops,
00:40shops selling and buying vehicles and second-hand shops.
00:47During the operation, which lasted for a month,
00:50110 locals and 6 foreigners were arrested.
00:57There were 112 men and 4 women arrested,
01:05aged between 16 and 59 years old.
01:09All of these arrests were investigated under Section 379A,
01:15Section 411, Penal Code,
01:20Section 414, Penal Code
01:23and Section 29, Bracket 1, Penal Code.
01:28During the operation, which lasted for a month,
01:33the police seized 81 vehicles.
01:41They seized 29 motorbikes,
01:451 van,
01:474 lorries,
01:4951 motorcycles,
01:5213 motorcycles,
01:56as well as 30 vehicles and their stolen equipment.
02:05The police seized several syndicates,
02:123 syndicates that seized 8 luxury vehicles,
02:192 syndicates that seized 6 motorbikes,
02:24and 3 syndicates that seized 10 motorcycles.
02:31They used a device that could activate any vehicle's engine,
02:40and they used a device called a jammer
02:45to turn off all the GPS equipment
02:50in just 30 seconds
02:53before they drove the vehicles away.
02:56These syndicates always moved in groups of 2 or 3
03:01and used rented vehicles.
