00:00Eleanor Oligario won the Korean International Women's Invention Exposition 2024.
00:07Another Filipino won the Korean International Women's Invention Exposition this year.
00:16The Korean Women's Invention Association is an important organization
00:21that supports and supports women's ideas
00:26so that they can be active in the economy.
00:30This is not only the beginning of their new invention,
00:34but it also provides an important platform for women's development
00:39in the field of technology and innovation.
00:42And now, let's meet the winner of the Korean International Women's Invention Exposition 2024,
00:50Ms. Eleanor Oligario.
00:52Good morning. Welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:54Good morning.
00:55Good morning.
00:57First of all, congratulations, ma'am.
00:59Of course, this is your competition,
01:01but I can see some of your products, some of the trophies that you won.
01:07Congratulations. Proud Pinay.
01:09Tell us more about what happened here.
01:11In Korean Women, we were able to showcase our innovations in Korea online.
01:17So we won an award, which is gold and silver,
01:22rainwater harvesting solution with three-stage ceramic filter.
01:26So it's not here, but it's a three-stage ceramic filter,
01:30filters rainwater for potability.
01:34And then we also have this bronze award for our home care.
01:38So this absorbs air toxins in the air inside the cars and inside the comfort room.
01:44And also we have the eggs, also this one bronze as well.
01:48So that our fruits and vegetables won't get burnt easily.
01:51We put this in baskets and even in refrigerators.
01:54So your efforts in these innovations really paid off.
01:59From your gold, silver, and bronze medal.
02:01What inspired you to do this?
02:03Well, I'm a chemical engineer and materials engineer,
02:06and we have these minerals in Niger here in the Philippines.
02:09So we wanted to develop these minerals
02:12so that it can be used in animal feeds, aquaculture,
02:16environmental protection, and pollution control.
02:20So we keep on innovating products that are useful for our environment and daily living.
02:27Okay. Here in Rise and Shine Philippines, we're after for women empowerment.
02:31So as a woman, we want to know,
02:33what aspect as a woman should be given importance when talking about invention?
02:42Women inventors, what they put in the table is creativity.
02:46Okay.
02:47And then also multitasking.
02:49We tend to do that because we're also mothers.
02:51And then also collaboration between scientists.
02:55Okay.
02:56And more empathy on what we had to innovate.
02:59There.
03:00Well, we understand also there are challenges along the way,
03:04there are experiences.
03:05So how did you overcome this?
03:07What is the most unforgettable challenge along the way in what you did before receiving this gold, silver, and bronze medal?
03:15Well, there are many awards aligned with sustainable development goals.
03:20But before that, during the pandemic, I lost my job in my 23 years of family business.
03:28Okay. I'm sorry to hear that.
03:29So right there and then, I had to struggle because I have two children.
03:34Okay.
03:35And then one is a special needs child.
03:37So I really had to push myself forward towards caring for my sons.
03:45So right there and then, I snapped out of my depression and anxiety and seek help and professional help.
03:53At least you know what to do.
03:55Yes, we have to be strong for them and to take care of them.
03:58Okay.
03:59I'll go back to the awards you received.
04:01Earlier, before we started our program, we already talked and what you did was really unique.
04:08The Philippines really needs it.
04:09Let's start with your gold medal. What is that again?
04:12The gold medal was awarded for our rainwater collection system.
04:15There. Okay. Tell us more.
04:17So it's a foldable tank.
04:19It can be brought to remote communities.
04:22And it also has a three-stage filter.
04:24So this one has the zeolites to get the heavy metals out.
04:29And then calcium carbonate to neutralize the acidity of the rainwater.
04:35And calcium carbonate to get the organics out.
04:38So it absorbs all the toxins in the rainwater.
04:42And the end product will be?
04:44Potable water. Drain water.
04:46For drinking.
04:48What about the silver medal?
04:50For the silver medal, it's the three-stage filter.
04:53So it has its own utility model.
04:56So that's what we use for winning the silver award.
05:00So the rainwater will be collected, right?
05:02Yes. If you already have existing drums or tanks.
05:07If you don't need our tank anymore.
05:10We also have a three-stage filter.
05:12That's the only thing we can put.
05:14That's amazing.
05:15So it won the silver.
05:17And these are the products for the bronze medal.
05:20For the bronze medal, we have the home care product.
05:23So if you have air toxins in your cars or in your comfort room,
05:27in your room, or in your laboratories,
05:29this will absorb the air toxins.
05:32Okay.
05:33I also want to know,
05:35what's your plan afterwards?
05:37You've already won this award.
05:39Are you going to invent more?
05:40Because it's also rainwater.
05:42Maybe we can think of something.
05:43Maybe you can help. Go ahead.
05:45Yes, we have to continue on innovating.
05:49Give our creativity more boost.
05:51And curiosity on these minerals and other applications.
05:54So we're looking at innovations in crop protection for cacao.
05:59And also for climate change action innovations.
06:03So that we can help our industry here in the Philippines
06:07and also elsewhere in the world.
06:10We'll also be contributing this kind of innovations in plain nanotechnology.
06:14Lastly, can you say three words for the future of women when it comes to inventions?
06:19Well, for our researchers, continue to innovate.
06:24Okay.
06:25And then don't underestimate yourselves.
06:27Because your innovation might change the future of our environment
06:32or our earth in particular.
06:34So never underestimate yourself.
06:36And women in STEM should help each other.
06:39So that in our goal to change the world
06:42and make our lives better.
06:44Thank you so much for this inspiring message.
06:47And for your inspiration.
06:48In total, for all the awards you received.
06:50Thank you so much, Swaggababi, for your journey
06:53in the Korea International Women's Invention Exposition 2024.
06:56And also for sharing your invention.
06:58Ms. Eleanor Oligario, thank you so much again.
07:01Thank you.
