00:00trade Matthew Judon, you want him gone.
00:02Yeah, I think it's time.
00:03I think at this point, if you don't trade him
00:06and you do pay him, you're setting a terrible example
00:08because now he's made a big scene.
00:10Now he's made a spectacle of himself
00:12and now he's gone head to head with not only the coach
00:14but the GM and sort of everything else
00:16and made it a whole thing.
00:18If you don't trade him now and you do sort of give in,
00:21then that incentivizes everybody else to do that same thing.
00:24I think now at this point, it's early on.
00:25No, who else is left to pay?
00:26Like who else is gonna knock on their door to get paid?
00:28Maybe not this year, but in the future, you know?
00:30I mean, there's a lot of people at camp right now.
00:31They're all watching this.
00:32They all saw it.
00:33There's gonna be people who have deals
00:35that are up next year or in the future
00:36and they're gonna say, hey, you know, look,
00:37Judon was out there bitching and moaning
00:40and if I do that, maybe they'll pay me too.
00:42And listen, everybody's getting paid.
00:43So I understand what Judon's upset about.
00:45But I think at this point,
00:47if you've sort of let it get to this point with him
00:50and now all of a sudden he's showing everybody up,
00:53it's more detrimental to pay him
00:54than it would be to trade him, I think.
00:56See, I disagree with that.
00:57I was listening to the Midday guys
01:01and Fourier straight up said, look,
01:04I don't think Judon is gonna be a problem if you pay him.
01:07If you give him a pay bump, I think this thing's done.
01:09It's not like there's gonna be more drama
01:12or he's gonna be somebody different
01:13in the locker room than he's been.
01:14And I disagree, just really quick, Arkan,
01:17with your notion that he sets the example now
01:20that everybody can get paid if they go out there
01:23and sit on a pile of pads or a trash can or something
01:27and throw a hissy fit and then walk off the field.
01:29Show up the coach, I mean.
01:30Okay, I think if you're an extremely talented player,
01:34then yeah, that might be the case.
01:36But that happens on every other team.
01:38And it's happening with Trent Williams right now,
01:40maybe not to the same public extent.
01:42Happens with IUK.
01:43There's stuff going on with Jamar Chase.
01:45Like this is not an individual kind of usual situation.
01:48They're holding out and holding in,
01:49but they're not sitting on pads, showing up the coach.
01:52I'm screaming at the-
01:52Right, but the reason they're gonna,
01:55if they decide to give Judon a contract,
01:57it's not gonna be because of the display
01:59he made at practice.
02:00It's gonna be ultimately because of what-
02:01But they'll still be rewarding him for that.
02:03Yeah, that's what I heard.
02:04It will look that way.
02:04Like I do, look, I agree with Arkan on this.
02:06Like part of me is like, don't go too easy on the players,
02:09but then I'm also like, pay Judon.
02:11Now my out is where you're at, Meggo.
02:13I'm like, you paid all these bum-ass players,
02:15pay the good one.
02:16And I just give him a pay bump.
02:17I'm not giving him a giant extension.
02:18I'm giving him some money to get him out on the field.
02:20But I don't think this happens everywhere.
02:23Like what happened yesterday.
02:24I think that happens with bad organizations.
02:26Like say what you want about Bill, and I have.
02:28And Bill busted balls on contracts
02:30and had plenty of players upset about their deal.
02:32He had guys hold out.
02:33I mean, Logan Mankins was pissed.
02:35So, you know, Randy Moss went out
02:37and made a big stink about this.
02:39Kern wrote about this like a week ago.
02:40Randy Moss went up.
02:41I'd forgotten about this press conference.
02:43In 2010, a week before he got traded,
02:45and he's like, yeah, I'm just, I wanna get paid.
02:48I think I deserve to get paid, blah, blah, blah.
02:49Week later, Bill traded him.
02:51And so this doesn't normally happen.
02:54It didn't happen under Bill Belichick.
02:55Players are pissed about their deals
02:57and Bill cheaped out on plenty of players.
02:59I'm not telling you Bill did everything right.
03:01But Bill didn't have dysfunction in the middle of practice
03:04with players sitting, yelling at Mayo,
03:08you know, turning around, talking to Wolf,
03:10like upstaging Mayo.
03:12That didn't happen.
03:13Getting kicked out of practice and then coming back.
03:15Yeah.
03:16I mean, that was pretty disrespectful, yeah.
03:18Which is why I don't think-
03:19No, that's different.
03:19That's different at the same time.
03:20I don't know.
03:21I'm still not at the level of Trey Judon.
03:23I don't think-
03:24Oh, me either.
03:25I don't think his character is such that
03:26he's gonna be some kind of major problem
03:29in the locker room, regardless of how this team plays,
03:31if he gets the contract and he's there.
03:33Okay, but he doesn't think he is gonna be a problem.
03:33What does it mean about,
03:34what does it say about the culture?
03:35He is a problem right now.
03:36You've already set the culture of you pay everybody.
03:39Like you've already paid everybody.
03:40So at least give a pay bump to the decent guy on the field.
03:44Okay, well, that's an unsustainable culture.
03:45I mean, if you're paying your younger players, fine.
03:48If they will look to Judon and thought, you know what?
03:50Let's see how he looks.
03:50Let's see if he's engaged.
03:51Let's see if this is someone that would do want to give
03:53this kind of money to and give an extension to
03:56in his later age.
03:57Most of the people that they paid are younger than him.
03:59So I think that there's-
03:59Right, I'm not saying you have to give him
04:01like a two year extension or anything.
04:03Well, if they're very far apart,
04:04they're very far apart right now.
04:06They probably offered him a bump.
04:07He didn't want it.
04:08So, I mean, if they're very far apart
04:09and they're not gonna get there,
04:10he's gonna be a problem.
04:11Well, very far apart.
04:12You have to trade him.
04:13Very far apart could be,
04:13I want 7 million this year and the Patriots say,
04:15you're getting nothing.
04:16And that could be very far apart.
04:17And so I don't know that he wants an extension.
04:20I don't know that the Patriots
04:20have offered him a bump this year.
04:21I don't know those things.
04:22I don't know that for sure.
04:23But they're not close.
04:24Right.
04:25And so that I agree with.
04:25When it comes to Matthew Judon,
04:28I would give the Patriots credit for trading him.
04:30And like, I would give Mayo some credit there.
04:32I'd be like, hey, you know what?
04:33It's not just everybody gets paid
04:35and everybody's getting fat and happy.
04:36Like I would give the Patriots credit for that.
04:38But then I would also turn around and go, great.
04:41You drew the line with this guy.
04:43You're best player.
04:44I mean, arguably, no one knows what he looks like, Mego.
04:46Like you say that very confidently.
04:48He's been their best player, yes.
04:49But I have no idea what he's like
04:51on the other side of this injury.
04:52I have faith in him.
04:53I would give him a bump for this year.
04:54I definitely wouldn't give him
04:55a two or three year extension.
04:56So I would kind of try to middle it.
04:58But great, nice job.
05:00You drew a line in the sand with this guy.
05:02Like I probably would have drawn a line in the sand
05:04with Ramondre Stevenson.
05:06Or I would have drawn a line in the sand
05:07with like Hunter Henry or a bunch of,
05:09God chow, I would never pay a cent to.
05:11It sounds like they're about to give him an extension.
05:13Even Peppers.
05:14I'm not paying any of those guys.
05:15Duggar, I wouldn't have paid.
05:16On Wenyu, I would have drawn a line
05:17with any of those guys before this guy.
05:19So like, great.
05:20Now you lost arguably your best player on the team,
05:22your best player on defense,
05:23and that's where you decided to draw a line.
05:25That's what I'd crush him for.
05:26But I would at least give him some credit with,
05:28all right, you're not gonna be a distraction.
05:30You're not gonna walk all over the coach
05:31and get away with it.
05:32I would give him credit for that.
05:33I also wonder, just really quick,
05:35so we have that report that Judon and the team
05:37are super far apart.
05:38Like Judon, do we believe that Judon's acting
05:41as his own agent right now?
05:42Well, he wrote up the contract.
05:43He said he, I thought that was a joke
05:45when he first said that.
05:46Like, oh, I wrote something on a piece of scrap paper
05:48and gave it to him.
05:48But now it sounds like he's his own agent, right?
05:50Here's what I think.
05:51I read a Bedard tweet yesterday.
05:53Bedard said it's, and I'm paraphrasing
05:56because I don't have it in front of me,
05:57but he said something like he's listed as having an agent,
06:01but it's somebody I've never heard of.
06:02It might just be an advisor.
06:03Okay.
06:04So like, you know, he also said in that clip,
06:06we don't need to play it, but he said in that clip,
06:07like my agent was like, and I got an agent.
06:10He was like, you gotta get into this after football.
06:12And I'm like, Matt, you're not doing a great job
06:14with your deal, just FYI.
06:15So I wouldn't, I wouldn't get into being an agent
06:17after your career, but yeah,
06:19I think he's self-represented on this.
06:20And that can be part of the reason why he's in trouble.
06:22Like, honestly, part of the reason why he's the one guy
06:24who hasn't gotten paid is because he doesn't know
06:26how to negotiate because that's not his job.
06:28That's what I'm saying.
06:29When you hear reports that they are so,
06:31they're far, far, far apart,
06:33part of it might be that this is an unusual
06:36negotiation process, more like the beginnings
06:38of Lamar Jackson's negotiating process
06:40because he's representing himself.
06:42Right.
06:42So look, I don't want to go down that road.
06:45Floreo went down that road a bunch.
06:45Floreo does it constantly with Caleb Williams.
06:47He did it with Lamar Jackson.
06:49And I like the work of Mike Floreo.
06:50I'm like a lot of people at this station.
06:51Gresh yells at me about it.
06:54Andy Hart, yes.
06:55When you cite Floreo, I think, I don't,
06:57is Floreo a big fan?
06:58I don't think he is.
06:58I don't think a lot of people like his work.
06:59I like his work, but he really does carry the water
07:02for some agents and Lamar Jackson did great
07:05on his contract.
07:06Look at the cashflow, all the numbers that came out
07:07the other day, Lamar Jackson did great on his deal.
07:10But-
07:11Took a while, but he eventually-
07:12But part of the reason why Matthew Judon
07:14hasn't gotten paid while everybody else has,
07:16that might be a reason.
