Josh Smith walks it off, but is this Rangers offense beyond saving?

  • last month
The Rangers got a much needed win over the Astros yesterday thanks to Josh Smith's walk off homer in the bottom of the 10th, but that disguised the fact that the Rangers' offense had only two runs through 9 innings. Will the continued struggles of the offense kill what little chance the team has of winning the AL West and attempting to defend their World Series title?

00:00If you win tonight, you get the tie break over the Astros and to Corey's bigger point,
00:21happy boats tomorrow. That is true. And one more step towards potentially getting a sweep
00:26that feels like you desperately need because while you beat up on the white socks, everybody
00:31in baseball has been able to do that. So I wanted to talk just a little bit more about
00:39yesterday's game and I know we're all excited that they won, but is it okay to also be like,
00:45Hey, I'm really glad they won, but man, oh man, did the offense look rough for seven
00:49innings? Actually, I would probably argue it looked rough for nine innings.
00:54Yeah, it's, it is what it is. I just don't think you can rely on the offense. Look, it's
01:00a hundred plus games. Yeah. We've, you've seen enough last year was last year. Yup.
01:05Just like 2022, we couldn't say, well, 112 games in these 2023 Rangers are just like
01:11the 22 Rangers. No, they're nothing like the 22 Rangers. They're way better. It's not even
01:16close. And right now the 23 Rangers are way better than the 24 Rangers. And it's not even
01:21close, especially when you're talking about offense. Cause you could argue in a way that
01:27the pitching is better in 2024 than 23. I would argue that. Yeah. But the hitting is,
01:33I realized maybe like 10 of the last 11 days, not withstanding. But before that, I would
01:38argue that, but the hitting it's just, it's, it's a day and night because day's better
01:43than night. Why? Why is day light? Okay. Light is better than darkness. Right? I mean, nighttime's
01:55kind of cool sometimes, right? Like this tells you to, I knew that. How did you not know
02:00that that's what he was getting at? All right. All right. Like some people like nighttime.
02:04Yeah. I think it's in John, the book of John, he talks about the light and in the day and
02:10at night, you know, come on Corey. Now, one of the things
