What's most at fault for this failed Rangers season?

  • last month
Chris Bassitt of the Toronto Blue Jays says the reason their season hasn't gone the way they expected is because they didn't end up signing Shohei Ohtani in the offseason. With that in mind, what are you blaming most for this Rangers season going the way of the dodo fast? They also discuss GM Chris Young's future with the team.

00:00I wanted to know what is the moment, moments most important that you think pivoted this
00:20season?
00:21I know the exact moment that the season changed now and I was talking about it this weekend.
00:29I was on the road trip and it started off good.
00:32They went to Kansas city and they won two out of three and we see that Kansas city obviously
00:35has improved as the season has gone along.
00:37They went to Oakland and they had that double header day and then they went to Colorado
00:41and got swept.
00:43And from that moment, the Rangers have never been the same.
00:47I believe they're like 22 and 17 and then got swept and couldn't score to save their
00:54lives in Colorado.
00:55The easiest place to hit in all of baseball.
00:58And I have not gone back and tracked, but I'm pretty sure I need to go back here.
01:03And I think from that moment that we didn't know at the time we saw the Rangers get swept
01:09in Cincinnati in 2023 and we're like, Oh no, what happened to this team?
01:13And they were able to recover and play pretty good baseball the rest of the way and win
01:16the world series.
01:17But from that moment in Colorado, things have gone like it.
01:21They never recovered and I'm not saying they lost all their confidence or, but to me, if
01:26you're asking when we keep looking for, Hey, is there momentum created here?
01:29What about this moment?
01:30That moment in Colorado changed everything.
01:33All right, so I'm going to throw out a different moment, but I understand the legitimacy of
01:38that.
01:39I think it's going to be the moment that you started to see diamond sports group this year
01:44default on things or push the court case.
01:48And then that kind of through your, well, we know it's not one 10 now it's going to
01:52be closer to 90.
01:53Now I don't know what the future holds.
01:56I'm going to go with that because I think that's led to a lot of the financial uncertainty
01:59on the field.
02:01Definitely understand where you're going with that, Mike.
