00:37And that's what I'm afraid of because I'm 36.
00:40And I haven't been born yet.
00:42So I was thinking, I hope my mom will be cool with me growing up.
00:46If I have kids, I hope my mom will be cool with me just like my mom.
00:50Okay, let's talk about the strict side.
00:53Did you get beaten up?
00:54Yes, we were beaten up before.
00:56By a hanger or a belt.
00:58Okay, bad?
01:01No, but every time she did that, she would cry.
01:04Yes.
01:06But she didn't say sorry.
01:08But she would do other things to apologize.
01:12Like when she would cook.
01:15You know, she would make up for it.
01:17At that age, she would make up for it?
01:19Yes.
01:20Would you do that to your children?
01:22Would you be a strict mother?
01:24I think so.
01:25Because it really helped me a lot growing up.
01:27Especially with our dynamic.
01:30Because I was the breadwinner.
01:33So I've seen people, I've seen actors and actresses that
01:39because they were already breadwinners, they would call the shots in their family.
01:42But you're very young, so you don't know any better.
01:45In our family, the dynamic never changed.
01:48She was still the mother.
01:50Even though I was providing.
01:52That's interesting.
01:53I feel like if she wasn't like that to me,
01:57maybe my personality would have changed.

02:33The first lesson that comes to mind.
02:35The first thing, my sister always tells us,
02:39you have to be able to stand up for yourself.
02:42What does that mean?
02:43It means that if you have made a decision,
02:47you have to be able to stand up for yourself.
02:49You have to be able to stand up for yourself
02:52and you have to make sure that you stand by the decision that you make.
02:56Where does that come from?
02:57Does Mama have experience?
02:59Does the family have experience?
03:03That's why she always says,

03:09Mama is the eldest.
03:11And my grandmother was an OFW.
03:14So basically, she was the mother of her siblings.
03:18And she also started working very young.
03:21So she really grew up as a very strong woman.
03:26And so, she's almost unapologetic.

03:34Honestly, when you look at our personalities,
03:37we're so opposites.
03:39I'm not saying I'm weak.
03:41Obviously, we have our own strengths, right?
03:44And we show it differently.
03:46How much do you know of the life of Mama,
03:49in the context of how she was disciplined,
03:54how she was raised by her grandparents?
03:59Mama was already a hustler when she was young.
04:02Because they were poor.
04:04So when she was young,
04:06her grandmother would sell rice to her.
04:15Or her grandmother,
04:17my great-grandmother,
04:18she had a pig.
04:19So she would get scraps to feed the pigs.
04:24And I remember her stories.
04:27She would say that she was embarrassed
04:29because her crush would pass by.
04:31Her crush's house.
04:33So she would take a detour
04:36so she wouldn't see that she was carrying a pig.
04:39So she really had a tough childhood.
04:44So that was also the reason
04:47why when I was making money,
04:52she made sure that we would be able to save
04:56and we would be able to support ourselves.
04:58Because she didn't want to go through what she went through.
