00:00Jabbar comes from the root word Jabar and its main meaning is to mend and
00:05restore. When you have a cast or splint on your broken bone it is called Jabirah
00:11which comes from the same root word. It is called Jabirah because it helps mend,
00:16restore and fix your broken bones. An interesting fact is the word Algebra
00:23also comes from the same root word. It means you fix the equation. Allah is Al-Jabbar
00:29He is the one that restores a man's broken hearts and heals the
00:34wounds of the soul. Sometimes Jabbar means to compel or to force. This usually
00:41applies to people. From this it could be understood to mean oppressive and
00:45tyrannical. The Quran says وَإِذَا بَتَشْتُمْ بَتَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ
00:52And when you strike you strike as tyrants. Also Prophet Isa Alayhi Salam
00:59says وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِي جَبَّارٌ شَقِيَّةٌ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِي جَبَّارٌ شَقِيَّةٌ
01:04And he has not made me a wretched tyrant. As you can see there is a difference when
01:10Jabbar is used for Allah and for people. How can we understand Al-Jabbar more?
01:17Have you ever felt sad and lonely and no one to turn to? Sometimes no one
01:23understands you and it's hard to express your feelings. The next time you feel
01:27like this call Al-Jabbar. He's the one that men's broken hearts and heals the
01:33wounds of the soul. When Jabbar is used for people it is bad because it means
01:39they compel, force and oppress people just as tyrants and bullies do. We are
01:45not supposed to be like this. Imam Ali Alayhi Salam says من تجبر قسر
01:52Whoever acts tyrannical will be broken.
