00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from

00:07the Old Course at St Andrews at the completion of the AIG Women's Open, the final major of

00:162024. And what a special winner we had here today in New Zealander Lydia Coe. Just over

00:27two weeks after being crowned as the Olympic champion, the popular 27-year-old emerged

00:36victorious at the end of a pretty dramatic final round here on the Old Course. Nellie

00:44Korda, the world number one, she looked to be heading to what would have been her seventh

00:49win on the LPGA Tour this season. The American stood on the 14th tee with a two-shot lead

00:57and that being a par five, a birdie there would have put her in a really strong position.

01:03However, she ran up a pretty sloppy double bogey seven and at the same time, Lydia Coe

01:11was really getting into her stride over the closing stretch. In terrible conditions, she

01:17had a tremendous second shot to find the green at the 17th, saved par there and then

01:22made a birdie at the last. That gave her a closing 69 for a 700-par total. Korda couldn't

01:29match it, neither could defending champion Lillia Vu or two-time winner of this event,

01:37Jaya Shin from Korea. They all ended up two shots behind. Asked China's Ronnie Yin, Lydia

01:48Coe, very, very popular player, great ambassador for the game and really is terrific that she's

01:55landed her third major here in St. Andrews. She described it as a fairy tale the last

02:01few weeks and there's no doubt that is the case. She had a Scott Paul Cormack on her

02:07bag. He also won this event with Sweden and Nordqvist over at Carnoustie a few years back

02:14and Coe has certainly benefited from him starting to work with her. Terrific event, four tough days

02:22here. Play at times was a bit slow, unfortunately, but what a winner. Lydia Coe, popular, popular
