00:00Time for a story.
00:04It was a beautiful day on the island of Sodor.
00:09The sun was shining and the birds were singing.
00:15Thomas had worked hard all morning.
00:23He tutored happily to the children as he chuffed back to Tidmouth Sheds.
00:30The Fat Controller was waiting. He had an important special.
00:35This afternoon there is to be a special story time for the children at the library.
00:41I need an engine to collect the new story books from Maithwaite Station and take them to the library.
00:48Thomas wished his hardest that he would be given the special.
00:52Listening to stories with the children was his favourite thing to do.
00:56Thomas, you will deliver the special. Make sure the books are at the library on time.
01:02Thomas was excited.
01:04Yes, sir.
01:08And Thomas chuffed cheerfully away.
01:12Thomas puffed fast along the tracks.
01:15I mustn't be late for story time. I'll chuff and I'll puff to be there on time.
01:22Thomas steamed into Maithwaite Station.
01:26Hello, Thomas.
01:28I'm here to collect the new story books.
01:31We'll have your trucks ready in two toots of a whistle, Thomas.
01:35Thomas saw the story books piled high in the two trucks.
01:39There were red books, green books and blue books.
01:43There were big books, small books, square books and even round books.
01:48They look wonderful.
01:52Soon Thomas was coupled up to the trucks.
01:56I must hurry. I have to deliver the story books to the library on time.
02:00Thomas was very excited.
02:03He pumped his pistons and puffed quickly out of the station.
02:07Thomas didn't wait for the books to be covered.
02:12Thomas steamed quickly along the track.
02:18I mustn't be late for story time. I'll chuff and I'll puff to be there on time.
02:24The books began to jiggle and joggle.
02:27But Thomas didn't notice.
02:30Thomas puffed fast towards the junction.
02:33Thomas puffed fast towards the junction.
02:36Thomas puffed fast towards the junction.
02:39Thomas puffed fast towards the junction.
02:42He could see the signal ahead was red.
02:46I don't want to stop. The children are waiting for their special story time.
02:53Then an idea flew into his funnel.
02:57I can take the branch line. I know there aren't any junctions on that.
03:03So Thomas puffed quickly down the branch line.
03:10Thomas felt very pleased.
03:13He chuffed faster and faster and the books jiggled and joggled more and more.
03:19But Thomas didn't notice.
03:23I mustn't be late for story time. I'll chuff and I'll puff to be there on time.
03:31Thomas raced round a bend.
03:35Ahead there was a sign for works on the track.
03:39I'll bother.
03:45I'm sure the works on the tracks won't stop me.
03:49So Thomas puffed faster and faster.
03:54Then there was trouble.
03:57Workers were mending the broken track.
04:00The broken track was very bumpy.
04:04Thomas bumped and jumped.
04:07The books jiggled and joggled.
04:10Then Thomas hit the biggest bump of all.
04:13Whoa! Cinders and ashes!
04:16The trucks bounced high in the air.
04:19They crashed and bashed.
04:21They clattered and shattered down to the tracks.
04:25Thomas put on his brakes.
04:28The books flew high and wide through the air.
04:32And landed all over Farmer McColl's field.
04:36Oh my! The trucks are broken.
04:40The story books are all over the field.
04:43And the children now won't have their special story time.
04:46And it's all my fault.
04:50I was in such a hurry to be on time.
04:53I didn't want to wait.
04:55I should have waited for the books to be covered.
04:57And I shouldn't have taken the bumpy branch line.
05:02Oh dear!
05:06Fizzling fireboxes!
05:08What am I going to do?
05:10Thomas looked at the story books.
05:13The sun was shining on them.
05:15The books looked even redder and greener and bluer than they had in the trucks.
05:21The story books look so pretty in this field.
05:24I wish the children could see them.
05:26Then an idea flew into his funnel.
05:30I'll bring the children to the story books.
05:33They can have a picnic story time in the sunshine.
05:36That really will be special.
05:39So Thomas puffed off to collect the children.
05:44First, I must collect Annie and Clarabel.
05:50Victor and Kevin were busy at work as Thomas chuffed into the Sodor Steamworks.
05:56Hello, Victor. I'm here to collect Annie and Clarabel.
05:59I'm going to take the children to a special picnic story time in the sunshine.
06:04That's a wonderful idea, my friend.
06:07The children will like that.
06:09They always have their best time with you, Thomas.
06:12Thomas was pleased Victor and Kevin liked his idea.
06:19Later, Thomas huffed happily out of the Steamworks with Annie and Clarabel.
06:24Thomas puffed proudly up to the library at the town hall.
06:29The children were waiting.
06:31They were very surprised to see Annie and Clarabel instead of trucks of story books.
06:37Today, I am taking you to an extra special story time.
06:41It's a picnic story time in the sunshine.
06:44All aboard!
06:46The children had never had a picnic story time.
06:49They thought it was over.
06:51After the picnic story time, they thought it was a wonderful idea.
06:56Thomas blew his whistle and chuffed cheerfully away.
07:04Thomas puffed towards the junction.
07:09This time, Thomas waited.
07:13Then, he took the branch line back to Farmer McColl's Field.
07:26Thomas chuffed slowly and carefully up to Farmer McColl's Field.
07:31Here we are, the picnic story time special.
07:35The children cheered.
07:39The children cheered.
07:42They could see all the different coloured books in the field.
07:45They were very excited.
07:47This was the best story time ever.
07:51Thomas watched as the children ran on to the field.
07:55They each picked up a book and their teacher began to read with them.
08:00This is a story, children, all about a little boy.
08:06A little boy who didn't like waiting.
08:10He didn't like waiting because he thought he'd miss out on all the good things.
08:17But then he found out that good things are worth waiting for.
08:24As the story began, Thomas looked at all the happy children.
08:30He smiled his biggest smile.
08:35The children's picnic story time really is worth waiting for.
