00:00Thomas and the Jet Plane
00:05Thomas the Tank Engine loves having buffers and a boiler that bubbles.
00:11He loves having wheels and a whistle that toots.
00:18But most of all, Thomas loves working on the Fat Controller's railway.
00:25It was the day of the Sodor Summer Picnic.
00:30The Fat Controller came with news of a special for Thomas.
00:35You are to collect the children from the airport and take them to the picnic.
00:41He boomed cheerfully.
00:44Thomas was excited.
00:48He set off right away.
00:50The airport was new and all the engines wanted to go there.
00:58Soon Thomas arrived at the airport.
01:02He was excited to see the control tower,
01:06the huge hangar and the red and white striped windsock.
01:12Then he heard a loud noise in the sky.
01:16A jet plane was coming in to land.
01:20Thomas thought it looked very splendid.
01:40Thomas chuffed over to the hangar.
01:44Hello, peeped Thomas.
01:48I'm Thomas and I'm a tank engine.
01:52Hello, said the plane.
01:55I'm Jeremy and I'm a jet plane.
01:58It must be wonderful being able to fly, said Thomas.
02:03It is, said Jeremy.
02:06I can go anywhere I want.
02:09Flying is the most fun in the world.
02:13Thomas thought Jeremy was being boastful.
02:18I like travelling on tracks, Thomas huffed.
02:22I puff past farms and villages and see all the wonderful sights of Sodor.
02:29Well, from the air I see the wonderful sights of Sodor all at once, said Jeremy.
02:37Thomas felt upset.
02:40Then he saw the children.
02:43They were waiting on the platform.
02:46Thomas wheezed quickly over to collect them.
02:50I never want to talk to a jet plane again, he huffed.
02:57Thomas puffed over to the picnic.
03:01He was happy to leave the airport behind.
03:04But when he turned a bend in the track, he had to stop at a signal.
03:10Thomas heard Jeremy taking off.
03:14And then Jeremy flew right over his funnel.
03:18It's not fair, huffed Thomas. Jet planes don't have to stop at signals.
03:32Thomas puffed past the windmill.
03:35But Thomas could still see Jeremy.
03:37He was now high in the sky.
03:44Suddenly, Thomas saw a cow on the tracks in front of him.
03:49Jet planes don't have to stop for cows, Thomas puffed sadly.
03:58Thomas arrived at the picnic.
04:00The blankets were laid out and everyone was having a jolly time.
04:06But Percy thought Thomas looked sad.
04:10Jet planes can go wherever they like.
04:13I wish I were a jet plane, chuffed Thomas.
04:17But engines can pull carriages and take children to picnics, peeped Percy.
04:25Engines are great fun, Thomas thought.
04:29Engines are really useful.
04:32But Thomas wasn't sure.
04:37Jeremy was jetting to the mainland.
04:41But dark rain clouds were gathering.
04:50And Jeremy had to return to the airport.
04:59Thomas was passing the airport as Jeremy came in to land.
05:10Thomas didn't want to talk to him, but Jeremy called out.
05:15Thomas, a summer storm is on its way.
05:19The children's picnic will be ruined.
05:22Cinders and ashes, gasped Thomas.

05:28I must tell the Fat Controller.
05:35Thomas reached the picnic just in time.
05:39Quick, tooted Thomas.
05:42There's a big storm coming. The picnic will be washed away.
05:46Everyone packed up the picnic as quickly as possible.
05:51And then they boarded Annie and Clarabel.
05:55The children were sad the picnic was over.
06:01Then another idea flew into Thomas' funnel.
06:07He puffed quickly back to the airport.
06:11This time Thomas wanted to talk to Jeremy.
06:15Please, can the children have their picnic in your hangar?
06:20Of course, said Jeremy. What a splendid idea.
06:25Thomas was very happy.
06:30Soon all the children were having a jolly time.
06:35And so was the Fat Controller.
06:38Well done, Thomas and Jeremy, he boomed.
06:42Together you have saved the picnic.
06:45You are both really useful.
06:49Jeremy was happy to have helped.
06:51And Thomas had never felt prouder to be a steam engine.
