00:00:00Ladies and gentlemen, the following tag team event, it is set for one fall.
00:00:11Introducing first, making their way toward the ring, they are the new United States Tag Team Champions
00:00:21from Detroit, Michigan.
00:00:24Total combined weight, 535 pounds, Rick Snyder.
00:00:29The Snyder Brothers.
00:00:44And ladies and gentlemen, your opponents, total combined weight, 470 pounds,
00:00:48first from St. Petersburg, Florida, Barry Horowitz.
00:00:53And from New York City, Doug Fines.
00:00:57Ladies and gentlemen, the Styners won the United States Tag Team Championship
00:01:01in the Meadowlands against the Midnight Express just a few weeks ago,
00:01:05and they made some comments just before we were on the air
00:01:08about defending their United States Tag Team Championship.
00:01:13The old saying goes, you can keep a good man down,
00:01:17but once you give him proof, you can't keep a Styner down.
00:01:20When you're born, stand up and talk him back.
00:01:23Anybody who wants these belts, come on and get them.
00:01:25Any day, we'll Stynerize you.
00:01:30A lot of great teams, Bob, lining up to take on the Styners
00:01:33for the United States Tag Team Championship, including the Wild Samoan Swat Team.
00:01:37Jim, there's no doubt that whenever you're the champion,
00:01:40and it doesn't matter what championship you got,
00:01:42and of course that United States Championship, the tag team,
00:01:45a very prestigious championship, they've got everybody after them.
00:01:48But as you say, the Samoan Swat Team.
00:01:50Jim, I think I just about as soon have two polar bears after me as the Samoans.
00:01:55It should be a great matchup when the SST meet the Styners
00:01:58for the United States Tag Team Titles.
00:02:00I have the privilege to be at ringside in the Meadowlands
00:02:03when they defeat the Midnight Express, a tremendous matchup,
00:02:07a nice fireman carry takeover by Scott Styner.
00:02:11And Barry Horwitz makes his way to the ropes, necessitating a break.
00:02:17Bob, did you ever notice that when the Styners are wrestling,
00:02:19their opponents like to stay near the ropes?
00:02:22Jim is big and powerful and as strong as the Styners are,
00:02:25you can't blame them for that.
00:02:27These two young men are just outstanding athletes, great competitors in the ring,
00:02:30but they've got all of the tools and all of the natural ability you would want.
00:02:34Outstanding amateur competitors, collegiate champions,
00:02:37they brought that athletic ability into professional wrestling with them,
00:02:41and now they've got all of the power and strength to go with it.
00:02:44They're tough in that ring.
00:02:45Bob, a few weeks ago we talked to the fans about a new program
00:02:51involved in our wrestling,
00:02:53and that's going to be the Running of the Gauntlet here on TBS.
00:02:56This coming Friday night at 10, 20 Eastern Time,
00:02:59Brian Bryan will be the first man to try to run the gauntlet.
00:03:02His opponents will be drawn at random.
00:03:05If Hillman wins on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday next weekend here on TBS,
00:03:09he'll be $15,000 richer.
00:03:11But if he loses any one of those matches,
00:03:14the Running of the Gauntlet has concluded for that weekend,
00:03:17and his three opponents will split the $15,000.
00:03:20Jim, as you said, the Running of the Gauntlet
00:03:22means you've got to win three successive matches.
00:03:25Not only that, but you don't know who your opponents are going to be.
00:03:28It may turn out to be your closest friend,
00:03:30maybe even your tag team partner,
00:03:32if you're a tag team accommodation.
00:03:34You don't know who they're going to be,
00:03:36and anything can happen in the gauntlet.
00:03:38That will begin this Friday night on the Power Hour.
00:03:42Took the oral slam.
00:03:44Nice move by Scott Steiner.
00:03:46Well, that was an example of the power, Jim.
00:03:49Tremendous power and strength for the Steiners.
00:03:52Boston Crabb applied it very often.
00:03:55Oh, what a Steiner line.
00:03:57Doug Bynes tried to come in, and he was Steiner line.
00:04:01Rick Steiner trying to figure out how to execute the Boston Crabb.
00:04:06Referee Nick Patrick putting Rick Steiner out of the ring.
00:04:13And Doug Bynes just got nailed.
00:04:16Flew off and over the top rope.
00:04:20Borowitz also got it.
00:04:22That was a double clothesline.
00:04:24Both of them right out of the ring.
00:04:27The Steiners, of course, won their first tag team championship
00:04:31by defeating the fabulous Freeborns
00:04:33right here on World Championship Wrestling.
00:04:36But they earned their second title run.
00:04:38Jim, I want to mention, you're going to be talking to the World Heavyweight Champion
00:04:42a little later during this hour.
00:04:44And also, I think we got another message heavily from the Black Scorpion.
00:04:47We sure do, Bob.
00:04:48I'll tell you, last Wednesday night at the Clash of Champions,
00:04:51it was certainly a very eerie night,
00:04:53and if you fans missed that, the Clash will be rebroadcast.
00:04:58Check your local listings for the time.
00:05:02Clash 12 repeat broadcast.
00:05:05A night of a lot of surprises, to say the least.
00:05:09And of course, the surprise Sting got when he was wrestling the alleged Black Scorpion
00:05:16was certainly something that's worth looking at again.
00:05:19The Clash repeat is this Wednesday night here on TBS.
00:05:22Jim, as you said, what happened to Sting,
00:05:25he really just got flimflammed, really, by the Scorpion.
00:05:28No other way to put it.
00:05:30He's certainly playing some mind games for the World Heavyweight Champion.
00:05:33The Steiners play a lot of mind games as well.
00:05:35Now, Barry Horwitz was an outstanding amateur grappler in the Sunshine State of Florida.
00:05:41He's had a very controversial career since he's joined the pros.
00:05:46Well, Horwitz has got good size, Jim.
00:05:49He's not a small one by any stretch of the imagination.
00:05:52He's got a lot of power in the upper body of his,
00:05:55and he's got a lot of good athletic moves.
00:05:57You know, Bob, often times you find a power wrestler that doesn't have great amateur skills,
00:06:01or you find a great amateur wrestler that doesn't possess great power.
00:06:04Well, the Steiners, they possess it all,
00:06:06plus the unpredictable nature of Rick Steiner taking a fight out of the
00:06:11Plutonus Maximus there of Barry Horwitz.
00:06:16Jim, I'm glad you said that.
00:06:17I remember my anatomy from college.
00:06:20A few of those words, anyway.
00:06:23He's in that referee's position, just like any amateur.
00:06:25If it were on a pig or a hog, it would be a ham. Is that right?
00:06:28You got it, Bob.
00:06:34Barry Horwitz proclaiming that he's the best wrestler alive.
00:06:38And the dog-faced gremlin right there, there's his tattoo.
00:06:43Doug Vines now tags in. Vines is a veteran competitor.
00:06:47I think there's even some doubt now in the mind of Horwitz that he's the best.
00:06:52You saw him turn around to make that tag very quickly when he faced Steiner.
00:06:56Doug Vines going fist to cuffs with Rick Steiner.
00:06:59Ooh, there's a Steiner line.
00:07:02A scintillating move by Rick Steiner.
00:07:06Side gut wrench suplex, but it's not gonna be a suplex.
00:07:09He's got Vines upside down.
00:07:13And Ramsey, stomach first, upside down into the
00:07:19top turnbuckle and nails him with a quick right hand.
00:07:24Boy, that's gotta be a frightening position to be in, Jim, when you're upside down
00:07:28and your opponent has got you, nothing you can do, and you're completely at his mercy.
00:07:34Bob, if you were managing a team, how would you prepare them to wrestle the Steiners?
00:07:40Jim, that's a very good question. I'm not sure how you could go about doing that, I tell you what.
00:07:46It's gonna take a good athletic team, not necessarily one with a lot of power,
00:07:51but I think it's gonna take a lot of speed and precision.
00:07:56High impact move by Scott Steiner, and he is really perfecting a lot of great moves, of course.
00:08:02Perhaps one of the most fascinating offensive moves in wrestling is the Frankensteiner.
00:08:07Well, if you can get one of them isolated, Jim, that's what you may have to do.
00:08:11You may have to get one of them hurt, and you may have to work on one particular part of the body,
00:08:15but they're such tremendous athletes.
00:08:18Vines up on his shoulders of the dog-faced Grimmon Rick Steiner, and here comes the DDT off the top.
00:08:28Orr was met with a right hand as he came into the ring.
00:08:32Steiner-ized. That's what has happened to Doug Vines. This one's in the book.
00:08:40Ladies and gentlemen, the winners of the match, the United States Tag Team Champions, the Steiner Brothers.
00:08:48Bob, they've been champions and winners since elementary school, and the U.S. Tag Champions proved a big point right here.
00:08:54They're here to stay and not to play.
00:08:56Awesome display of power.
00:08:58Vines right off of the shoulder of Rick Steiner.
00:09:00Look at Scott with a DDT off of the top rope.
00:09:03No way he's going to get up from that.
00:09:05There you have the winners.
00:09:06Fans, we'll be back on TBS with Buddy Landell right after this.
00:09:11Time out.
00:09:13Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is set for one fall.
00:09:17Introducing first, from Jacksonville, Florida, weighing 235 pounds, the ninja boy, Buddy Landell.
00:09:28Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest, it is set for one fall.
00:09:31Introducing first, from Jacksonville, Florida, weighing 235 pounds, the ninja boy, Buddy Landell.
00:09:50His opponent from Europe, weighing 231 pounds, Sam Panzer.
00:09:56Fans, before we get this one really underway, nature boy Buddy Landell has some things to say.
00:10:01That shouldn't surprise you, but what does he have to say, Mike?
00:10:06I'm through playing with these guys' emotions around here.
00:10:09You know I've been a real nice guy.
00:10:11Now I'm going to take it upon myself to get a title.
00:10:14I don't care if it's going to be Sting, Luger.
00:10:17I might even get a tag team partner and beat the Steiners.
00:10:20That's right.
00:10:22Landell has his sights set on championships.
00:10:26I'll be interested in seeing what partner he might align himself with.
00:10:30High hip block there by Sam Panzer.
00:10:33Follows it with a clothesline on the braggadocious one, Buddy Landell.
00:10:38Takes him down with the arm drag.
00:10:40Jim, I think it was interesting.
00:10:41As Landell says, he wants championships.
00:10:43He doesn't care if it's single champions, world championship, United States championship.
00:10:48Also, he'll find him a partner and go after a tag team championship.
00:10:51Some great championship events, Bob, coming up this weekend
00:10:53as it's another exciting weekend for live action
00:10:56for many of the fans around the country.
00:10:58Sam Panzer going for the pin there and Landell frees himself after two.
00:11:03Jim, you're right.
00:11:04This week, the NWA on tour tonight at 8 o'clock.
00:11:07Memorial Civic Center in Lubbock, Texas and in St. Louis at the Keele Auditorium.
00:11:12And tomorrow at 7.30 at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas
00:11:17and the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Missouri.
00:11:19Then on Monday, Gainesville, Georgia at the Georgia Mountain Center,
00:11:237.30 start time, Eastern time in Gainesville.
00:11:28Great action for you fans in the next few days around the country.
00:11:31Nice move by Sam Panzer, showing good agility.
00:11:34Right into the big slam, slamming Nature Boy Buddy Landell.
00:11:37Lateral press, Randy Anderson got two out of it.
00:11:40And another nice arm drag.
00:11:41Sam Panzer came to wrestle, Bob.
00:11:43Oh, man, I tell you, he's showing Landell some good moves, too.
00:11:46And Panzer's a big one.
00:11:47He's a tall, strong individual in that ring.
00:11:50And Jim, again, let me remind all you viewers here on TBS
00:11:53that the Black Scorpion has got a new message for Sting.
00:11:56And that'll be coming up a little later.
00:12:01Reversal of the Irish Whip.
00:12:03And Sam Panzer, somewhat overzealous there,
00:12:06bared his shoulder to the top turnbuckle.
00:12:08Now we'll see if Buddy Landell can capitalize on that error by the Masked Man.
00:12:13And Landell tosses him outside.
00:12:15Landell's deceptively quick in the ring, Jim.
00:12:18It doesn't look like he's moving that fast.
00:12:22But he's got a lot of quickness.
00:12:24Landell thinks he's on the beach there, a little pose.
00:12:33Landell ever decides to leave wrestling,
00:12:36he'd make a good door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman or something.
00:12:38He'd talk his way in and talk his way out with an order, I believe.
00:12:41I'll tell you one thing, he'd never be at a loss for words, would he?
00:12:45Nice suplex by Landell.
00:12:50I'll be talking to the heavyweight champion of the world, I must say.
00:12:53A very concerned heavyweight champion,
00:12:56because Sting thought he was going to wrestle the man called the Black Scorpion,
00:13:00the man that we heard make the comments.
00:13:02But that was not the case at the Clash of Champions.
00:13:05And if you missed that situation, ladies and gentlemen,
00:13:08we're going to show you a highlight in our next segment.
00:13:11But the entire Clash will be rebroadcast
00:13:15right here on TBS in its entirety, I might add.
00:13:18Jim, it's really become a mind game as far as the Scorpion and Sting are concerned.
00:13:23And you really can't blame Sting for being concerned.
00:13:26It's like having an assassin that you know nothing about,
00:13:29you don't know what he looks like, you don't know where he's from,
00:13:31you don't know who he is, but you know he's on your trail.
00:13:33Jim, that's devastating to even think about that.
00:13:36You'd be lying awake at night thinking about, who could he be?
00:13:39Where is he? Is he watching me now?
00:13:41All kinds of things have got to be going through Sting's mind there.
00:13:44And you know, you get a mind like that working on him,
00:13:49I tell you, it takes a lot away from his actions in the ring,
00:13:52because he's not mentally prepared a lot of times when he's going to get in the ring.
00:13:56This may be what Scorpion's trying to do.
00:14:00Van Dale dropping the knee right across the head of Van Panzer now.
00:14:04That shin bone right into the throat.
00:14:10Come here, boy.
00:14:12Landell's a veteran, he knows how to hurt you.
00:14:15And once he gets you in trouble, you better believe he'll stay right on top of you.
00:14:19Big chop there by Buddy Landell.
00:14:22And Sting bears Van Panzer out of the corner.
00:14:25And a neck vise there by the youngster from Jacksonville, Florida now.
00:14:31There you get a good look at Buddy Landell.
00:14:33Hey, you said I did.
00:14:35And as we said, he's always talking.
00:14:37Yeah, and I think Landell's the only one who heard that.
00:14:40I heard him, did you hear him?
00:14:42Yeah, yeah.
00:14:45Did you hear him?
00:14:46Yeah.
00:14:47Bob, we've got a great program for everyone this Sunday night at 6.05 on the main event.
00:14:51One of our biggest one-on-one matchups that we've had the privilege to bring the fans in quite some time on TBS.
00:14:57It's something you surely do not want to miss.
00:14:59You're right there, Jim.
00:15:00The main event tomorrow night, Luger, Lex Luger, Barry Wendell.
00:15:05Barry Wendell, what a matchup that's going to be.
00:15:07Former world tag team champions.
00:15:09They were partners at one time.
00:15:10At one time, very good friends.
00:15:12And both at one time were former horsemen.
00:15:14They have certainly gone their separate ways, but they'll come together this Sunday night, 6.05, here on TBS in the main event.
00:15:21Lex Luger, the U.S. champion, and Barry Wendell, all the horsemen, one-on-one.
00:15:26Van Panzer fighting back.
00:15:32And elevates him.
00:15:35He's a tall one.
00:15:36He got him high in the air.
00:15:38Landell kicks out.
00:15:41Panzer went to drop the leg, but the veteran Landell moves out of the way and nails Van Panzer with an elbow.
00:15:47And now again with that shinbone right in the throat.
00:15:50Randy Anderson counting right in the face of Landell.
00:15:52Landell breaks it before the disqualification.
00:15:56And there's his corkscrew elbow.
00:15:58Nature boy Buddy Landell says he's on the title trail.
00:16:02Ladies and gentlemen, here's your winner, nature boy Buddy Landell.
00:16:09The wrestling wrap-up comes up next, but first, another look.
00:16:13Jim, as you say, that corkscrew elbow of Landell gets high to the ear.
00:16:17It's right on the button.
00:16:18All he has to do is just cover Van Panzer for the count of three.
00:16:22We'll find out Sting's thoughts on the black scorpion next on TBS.
00:16:28Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to TBS.
00:16:38Jim Ross with the world's heavyweight champion Sting.
00:16:40This is the wrestling wrap-up, wrestling wrap-up on sale wherever you see world championship wrestling.
00:16:44This past Wednesday night was one of the most bizarre nights I've ever witnessed.
00:16:48It was almost like a Twilight Zone situation.
00:16:51You beat the man, you unmask the man, but all of a sudden we see the black scorpion is not in the ring after all.
00:16:57I don't know who it is, Jim.
00:17:00Pull one mask off, the guy's got another mask on.
00:17:03Glance up into the audience and there he is, standing there with the robe.
00:17:07I guess that's the real black scorpion up there.
00:17:09This guy here, I have no idea who he is.
00:17:121986, he's disfigured, he's had plastic surgery or whatever, something.
00:17:17I knew him, a friend of mine.
00:17:18I don't know who it is, Jim.
00:17:20No clue at all.
00:17:21The only clues that we were able to get from that interview, he talked about 1986, he talked about California.
00:17:26No, I know, I'm kidding.
00:17:27But he said that you wouldn't recognize him if you saw him anyway.
00:17:29It's a strange situation.
00:17:31Strange for you.
00:17:32I've got to be in the ring with this guy.
00:17:33I don't know who he is or why he wants me.
00:17:35Fans, we're going to take a look now at what happened at the close of the match between Sting and the alleged black scorpion.
00:17:41And then we're going to hear an updated comment from the black scorpion himself.
00:17:45He's going to unmask.
00:17:47Sting says, take it off.
00:17:48Let's see who you are, guy.
00:17:49He's going for the laces.
00:17:51We're going to find out right here.
00:17:53He won the match with the Stinger.
00:17:55He's got another mask on.
00:18:01He's got another mask on.
00:18:02What the heck is that?
00:18:03He said if he lost.
00:18:05Wait a minute, Jim.
00:18:06What's that coming down the ramp?
00:18:07Look.
00:18:08Bob, look at the back.
00:18:09In the back, back there.
00:18:10Hey, look at Sting looking.
00:18:12Jim, who is that?
00:18:13What is that?
00:18:16My God.
00:18:17That's the scorpion.
00:18:18That's the black scorpion.
00:18:19That's the black scorpion.
00:18:20Who in the heck was he wrestling?
00:18:23It was a man.
00:18:24Look at Sting.
00:18:25He's stunned.
00:18:26Total astonishment by the champion of the world.
00:18:29Is that the black scorpion?
00:18:33I thought he was wrestling.
00:18:34There's the black scorpion on the rampway.
00:18:37What is going on here?
00:18:40And look at the stair dance.
00:18:41And Jim, we're just as stunned.
00:18:43Everybody in the arena is just as stunned as Sting is.

00:21:11to really exemplify to the fans,
00:21:15especially the young kids that follow him,
00:21:17the Little Stingers.
00:21:18And in any match that he gets in,
00:21:19when he thinks he's wrestling the Scorpion,
00:21:21any match, it may not engage him.
00:21:23How's he gonna know?
00:21:24How's he gonna know if he's in there
00:21:25against the real Scorpion?
00:21:29Perhaps only the Black Scorpion himself will know that.

00:22:11Nice standing vertical suplex by Barry Windham.
00:22:14And when you're 6'6", it adds a different dimension
00:22:17to a vertical suplex.
00:22:22Windham stomping awake and throwing the action
00:22:24at this point in time in the contest.
00:22:26Still to come in our first hour,

00:22:38There's a DDT, and Windham really planted Reno Riggins.
00:22:45Not only does he get him up so high for it, Jim,
00:22:48the tremendous force that he drives him
00:22:50downward into the mat.
00:22:56Barry Windham with a lariat.
00:23:00Great athlete.
00:23:01We can't say enough about the athletic abilities

00:23:27He certainly does.
00:23:29Here comes the superplex.
00:23:31Windham has Riggins up.
00:23:33The suplex on the second turnbuckle.

00:23:37with a total package this Sunday night on TBS.
00:23:40Here's your winner, Barry Windham.
00:23:47Just a whale of a young athlete.
00:23:50Extremely tall, powerful, strong individual.
00:23:54Barry Windham with that superplex off of that second rope.
00:23:57No way that Reno was going to get up from there.

00:24:44Junkyard Dog's got some matches signed
00:24:46to go against the Horsemen in tag team action,
00:24:48and he's got a big partner.
00:24:50Let's hear these comments from JYD.
00:24:54Well, you look and the dust is going away,
00:24:56and still all 325 pounds are still standing.
00:24:59And by the way, I'm the only man that can walk down the alley
00:25:02at 2 o'clock in the morning.
00:25:04By the way, I got 7'7", all 425 pounds.
00:25:12Junkyard Dog head-butting St. Watson out of the ring,
00:25:15and JYD will have El Higante in his corner, Bob.
00:25:18And if I was going to have first pick here in the draft,
00:25:21I think I might start with El Higante to be on my side.
00:25:24I'll tell you one thing, you won't be outsized, Jim.
00:25:277'7", what is he, about 415 or 20 pounds now.
00:25:31Huge, big individual.
00:25:33You're right, boy, I tell you, when you look across the ring
00:25:36and you see him in your opponent's corner,
00:25:38that's got to send shivers down your spine.
00:25:48The Clash Repeat broadcast will be here on TVS
00:25:53this Thursday night, September 13th, at 10.05 Eastern Time.
00:25:57The entire Clash 12, repeated in its entirety.
00:26:00We'll talk more about that this Sunday night on the main event.
00:26:04JYD getting some momentum.
00:26:06And a clothesline used by the Junkyard Dog,
00:26:10former outstanding football player at Fayetteville State
00:26:13in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
00:26:15Grew up in Wadesboro, North Carolina.
00:26:17Has wrestled all over the world.
00:26:19And the Junkyard Dog, never known for his finesse
00:26:22and his innate wrestling skills, but he's a battler.
00:26:25He's a battler all the way, and he always gets into that ring
00:26:28looking for a bone to gnaw on.
00:26:30But I tell you, with those headbutts that he came on
00:26:32on Stake Watson since the opening bell, Jim,
00:26:34he's been trying to look like to knock him right into next week.
00:26:37Tremendous headbutts.
00:26:39He was a great offensive lineman in college,
00:26:41great straight-ahead blocker.
00:26:43Side-rushed in the legs sweep by the Junkyard Dog,
00:26:451-2, and JYD.
00:26:47Ooh, ooh, you don't see him do that very often, Jim.
00:26:50Certainly don't.
00:26:51He's certainly got his mind on the competitive environment
00:26:54that he has been thrust into against the horsemen.
00:26:57There's a headbutt.
00:26:59And Snake Watson is standing not because of his own tenacity,
00:27:03but because JYD's holding him up.
00:27:05Had him by the hair and held him right there for another one.
00:27:08He's still holding him up.
00:27:12Third headbutt, and finally Snake Watson goes down.
00:27:21Dog's not finished.
00:27:22He's saying, what, where are the horsemen, Jim?
00:27:25He wants the horsemen.
00:27:26I think he really got to take on all four of the horsemen.
00:27:30The Junkyard Dog will not be intimidated by any athlete
00:27:33he steps in the ring with.
00:27:34He's been in the ring with all the greats throughout his career.
00:27:38And that look on his face,
00:27:40he has certainly got some newfound enthusiasm this week,
00:27:43very, very focused on what he's here to do.
00:27:47He said, man, I'm planted right here by the ropes.
00:27:51JY told me before we were there, he didn't know karate,
00:27:54but he knew ca-chair, ca-fist, ca-head.
00:27:58And he can use them all, Jim.
00:28:05Bob, he's like you, he's a Tar-heel-ian.
00:28:09That's right.
00:28:10I tell you, they grow them tough up there, Jim.
00:28:17He's a tough one.
00:28:18As you say, he's had to fight his way
00:28:22all the way from childhood, Jim.
00:28:24Junkyard hasn't known anything but get in there and fight,
00:28:27scratch, dig, fight his way up.
00:28:30You got to hand that to him, I'll tell you that.
00:28:36Well, he's a three count away from a hot shower.
00:28:39And look at that, look at his face.
00:28:41He's ready for business.
00:28:42Here's our winner, the Junkyard Dog.
00:28:46And he's got to be ready, Bob,
00:28:47to get ready to take on the Horseman.
00:28:48We'll hear from Barry Windham about that,
00:28:50but take another look at this stunt.
00:28:52As you say, focused right in on the Horseman.
00:28:54You can tell that from the Junkyard Dog.
00:28:56Well, watch here as he's got Snake Watson high out of the air.
00:28:59Look at the way that shoulder is going to drive
00:29:02right into that midsection to cover him for the pin.
00:29:05Lion Bryant's coming up fans in the hour,
00:29:07but right now, let's listen to this from Barry Windham.
00:29:11Listen, Junkyard Dog and El Gigante,
00:29:13you two guys seem to think that you're on top of the world.
00:29:16Giant, you might be seven foot nine or seven foot ten,
00:29:19and Junkyard Dog, you might have a head harder than rock.
00:29:22But let me tell you something.
00:29:24The Horseman are prepared for any combination
00:29:27that you could come up with at any time,
00:29:29be it Zink, Pillman, Sting, Luger, anybody,
00:29:33because we are always prepared.
00:29:35And when we're not prepared,
00:29:36we've always got an ace up our sleeve.
00:29:39We'll come up with a victory one way or another.
00:29:53It's coming.
00:29:55An evening of unspeakable horror.
00:29:58It's coming.
00:29:59Terrifying destruction.
00:30:01It's coming.
00:30:03A hallowed and good time
00:30:05with the monsters of professional wrestling.
00:30:08It's coming.
00:30:10Halloween Havoc 90.
00:30:12Terror rules the ring.
00:30:14A pay-per-view event bordering on the edge of insanity.
00:30:18Call the cable operator for availability if you dare.

00:31:03And here's what the handsome youngster
00:31:05from Cincinnati had to say
00:31:07about the upcoming month of September.
00:31:11Since the days on the gridiron,
00:31:13September has always been gut-check time
00:31:15for Flyin' Brian.
00:31:17This year's gonna be no different.
00:31:19The likes of Stan Hansen, the Four Horsemen,
00:31:21this lean, mean fly machine,
00:31:23it's gonna promise you guys only one thing.
00:31:25That's an all-out blitz.
00:31:28This kid is a great competitor.
00:31:30The Bengals were here in Atlanta.
00:31:33Atlanta-Fulton County sent him a few weeks ago
00:31:35to play the Falcons in an exhibition game.
00:31:37And I talked with Coach Kim Wood,
00:31:40the Bengal staff.
00:31:42Bob, Coach Wood's been in the NFL 20 years.
00:31:44He said that Flyin' Brian, pound for pound,
00:31:47was the toughest football player
00:31:49ever to put on a Bengal uniform.
00:31:51Kim, I'm not surprised at that.
00:31:53He's a young man that goes through a lot.
00:31:55I'm not surprised at that.
00:31:56He's a young man that goes full bore.
00:31:58And you can watch him in the ring and see that.
00:32:00He lets it all hang out
00:32:02from the minute of the opening bell.
00:32:04He likes it quick. He likes it fast.
00:32:06He wants an up-tempo type match.
00:32:08And he gives it 110% all through the match.
00:32:11Young kid that grew up on the streets of Cincinnati.
00:32:14Learned to protect himself and defend himself
00:32:16at a very young age.
00:32:18Was a walk-on at Miami of Ohio.
00:32:21Ended up making All-American there two times.
00:32:24Played for the Bengals for four seasons.
00:32:26Won the Ed Block Courage Award
00:32:28as the most courageous Bengal on the entire squad.
00:32:32This kid was a real kamikaze on the specialty teams.
00:32:35Played linebacker in the National Football League.
00:32:38And it takes a very special breed of athlete
00:32:40to play linebacker in the NFL.
00:32:42Tell you one thing, he's got a very tough task
00:32:45ahead of him next week, Jim,
00:32:47on the power hour when he's gonna run the gauntlet.
00:32:50Flyin' Brian's the first man to step forward
00:32:52and say, I wanna run the gauntlet.

00:32:56So Friday night at 10.20 Eastern Time,

00:33:09If he wins on Saturday,
00:33:11then he goes to the all-important finals on Sunday.
00:33:14If he wins all three nights,
00:33:16he will be $15,000 richer.
00:33:18Not a bad payday, Bob.
00:33:20Puts him almost in the level of your pay.
00:33:22He's getting close, Jim.
00:33:24Hey, are we talking about a year or a day?
00:33:27I want your agent next time I do my contract, Bob.
00:33:31Rick Fargo is a veteran and a tough one at that.
00:33:36But Tillman with a big chop
00:33:37that echoes throughout this arena
00:33:39and hip-flops him right out of the corner.
00:33:42Tillman with a sabat kick, great move.
00:33:45Caught Fargo right in the jaw, but Fargo kicks out.
00:33:48Fargo's a tough guy.
00:33:50He's tough and he's quick.
00:33:51He's got a lot of ability, too, Jim.
00:33:53When he came into the ring,
00:33:54we saw him just leap right over the top rope
00:33:56into the ring,
00:33:57so he can really get around for a man that size.
00:34:00You know, Bob, we're gonna be in Flying Brian's
00:34:02home state of Ohio this coming week,
00:34:04beginning on Tuesday.

00:34:22at the Portsmouth, Ohio High School.
00:34:27Also Thursday night in Edinburgh, Texas
00:34:29at Pan American University.

00:34:34The fans will be able to see a real wrestling legend
00:34:37in Jose Lothario,
00:34:38who will be involved in those big events
00:34:40as Rick Fargo sit flying Brian for the ride.
00:34:43Good agility by this young kid.
00:34:46He fakes Fargo out.
00:34:48Fargo kicks out near fall.
00:34:51A couple of times he's been within account
00:34:54of having Fargo pinned.
00:34:55Each time Fargo is dug down deep to kick out.
00:34:59Fargo forces Pillman back into the corner.
00:35:02Fargo has the edge in size here in this contest.
00:35:05Goes downstairs with a left hand,
00:35:07and the southpaw nails Flying Brian again.
00:35:10But Pillman will fight back.
00:35:12Well, he's also got the experience factor
00:35:14on Brian also, Jim.
00:35:19Referee Nick Patrick exhorting Fargo
00:35:22to get him out of the corner.
00:35:24And Flying Brian will take matters into his own hands.
00:35:27Well, when you mentioned it earlier
00:35:29talking about him playing football,
00:35:31he doesn't have an advantage
00:35:32when it comes to the guts category.
00:35:34Flying Brian will get down into the trenches, Jim.
00:35:37He'll fight with you down dirty.
00:35:40Reverse chin lock
00:35:42by the handsome youngster from Cincinnati.
00:35:44Fans, don't forget, this is a big week
00:35:46here on TBS television.

00:36:10for the exact time in your area
00:36:12for these big television events here on TBS this week.
00:36:15He's got Brian in trouble now, Jim.
00:36:17Into the corner, landed a couple of good elbows.
00:36:19And he had some powerful left hands,
00:36:21and they've been right on the button.
00:36:23I think that's Fargo's best form of attack.
00:36:25Go straight into Flying Brian
00:36:27and try to keep the aerial abilities
00:36:30of Flying Brian grounded.
00:36:32And Fargo got a near count, a near fall there.
00:36:34A two count as Flying Brian fights back
00:36:37from one knee right back up to that vertical base
00:36:40and nails him with a chop.
00:36:42Fargo blocked that attempted move
00:36:45from the elevate Flying Brian
00:36:47and turns it into a modified neckbreaker there.
00:36:49Well, that was the experience factor we talked about.
00:36:52He blocked it, he went with a neckbreaker.
00:36:58Fargo now going outside.
00:37:00Well, this is a very uncharacteristic move for Fargo.
00:37:03A wrist, and Hillman just drop kicked him
00:37:06right off the top.
00:37:08And Hillman just drop kicked him right off the top.
00:37:12And not into the ring, but out of the ring,
00:37:14off of the apron, all the way down on the floor.
00:37:20The pugnacious Flying Brian Hillman
00:37:23with a big chop on Rick Fargo.
00:37:27Tosses him back inside.
00:37:31And it may be time to go airborne.
00:37:33We'll keep our eye on Flying Brian
00:37:35as he's sizing Fargo up.
00:37:39Hillman up, clothesline, off the top.
00:37:43Air Hillman strikes again.
00:37:46Here's your winner, Flying Brian.
00:37:50Bob, one of your favorite people, Missy Hyde,
00:37:52along in a moment to tell us about the main event.
00:37:54But first, another look.
00:37:57As Flying Brian headed time perfectly,
00:38:00Fargo turned around and there he was off of the top rope.
00:38:03One, two, three, the winner, Flying Brian.
00:38:08The main event, Sunday night at 6.05.
00:38:10Here she is to tell you about it. Here's Missy Hyde.
00:38:13Hi, I'm Missy Hyde.
00:38:15And tomorrow night on the NWA main event,
00:38:17you'll see a great bout between Lex Luger,
00:38:19the U.S. heavyweight champion,
00:38:21and one of the full horsemen, Barry Windham.
00:38:23Now that's tomorrow night on the NWA main event
00:38:25with me and Jim Ross.
00:38:38The following tag team event,
00:38:40it is set for one fall.
00:38:42Introducing first,
00:38:44the godfather of professional wrestling,
00:38:46Theodore R. Long,
00:38:48presents the world tag team champion,
00:38:52Ron Simmons,
00:38:54between the team of two.
00:39:05And their opponents,
00:39:06first from Pensacola, Florida,
00:39:08Brad Batten,
00:39:10and from Mobile, Alabama,
00:39:12Joe Barrett.
00:39:14Barrett and Batten to take on Dune,
00:39:16the world tag team champions,
00:39:18and they have certainly
00:39:20had their share of problems the world champions have
00:39:22with the Rock and Roll Express.
00:39:24We asked Teddy Long to make some comments
00:39:26regarding Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson,
00:39:28and here's what the godfather of wrestling had to say
00:39:30moments ago.
00:39:33Rock and Roll Express,
00:39:34you've got one feather in your hat.
00:39:36You got lucky.
00:39:37You upset Dune, the world tag team champions,
00:39:39but it was a referee error.
00:39:41Bad officiating.
00:39:42Now Rock and Roll, the promoters,
00:39:43have signed a world title match.
00:39:45That's when the Soul Brothers Dune are their best,
00:39:47and it's all over for you,
00:39:48Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.
00:39:53Rock and Roll Express in a championship rematch,
00:39:56preparing to wrestle the world tag team champions.
00:39:58And Bob, a surprising note,
00:40:00we know that the horsemen are a little gold crazy.
00:40:03They like all the championships.
00:40:04They lust for the titles
00:40:06and the prestige and money it brings,
00:40:08and it comes to mind that the horsemen
00:40:11are gearing up for a championship showdown
00:40:14for the world tag team titles with Dune,
00:40:16and that's one match that I certainly don't want to miss.
00:40:19Oh, you're right, Jim,
00:40:20but you talk about the Rock and Roll.
00:40:22You can't count those youngsters out either.
00:40:25They know what that gold is like.
00:40:27They've been the world tag team champions
00:40:29several times, four times, I believe.
00:40:31Already they've been world tag team champions, Jim,
00:40:34and they've got the style to upset this team.
00:40:39Power move by Ron Simmons.
00:40:41Bob, if you were sitting at ringside
00:40:43when Dune was going to wrestle the horsemen,
00:40:45who would you cheer for?
00:40:47Hey, man, that's a hard one, isn't it?
00:40:52You should stop and think a little bit.
00:40:54Yeah, you have to think about that one for a while.
00:40:56Hitting along outside, he's running that mouth of his.
00:40:58You know that mouth runs on,
00:41:00but his brain is never in gear.
00:41:02That's the problem.
00:41:04Well, he's been smart enough
00:41:05to hold on to the world tag team championship belts.
00:41:07They're over his shoulder right now.
00:41:09And Butch Reed in there with a big forearm
00:41:11on Brad Batten.
00:41:13Reed and Simmons
00:41:17started off the year
00:41:19with not a lot of fanfare,
00:41:22but they have got to be considered
00:41:24now the finest tag team combination in the world today
00:41:27because they hold
00:41:29the most coveted tag team championship in the land.
00:41:31That's the world titles.
00:41:33And Brad Batten's trying to get Butch Reed out of the corner,
00:41:35but that's not going to work.
00:41:37And Reed inverted a comic drop.
00:41:41Well, Reed and Simmons both are such awesome
00:41:43physical specimens, Jim.
00:41:45I don't know of any.
00:41:46You take two guys and put them together,
00:41:48and they're just like almost they came out of the same mold.
00:41:51Any combination of the horsemen,
00:41:53whether it be Ric Flair, Narn Anderson,
00:41:55Barry Windham, and Sid Vicious,
00:41:57or any combination thereof,
00:41:59it will be a marquee matchup, fans,
00:42:01if that match is signed
00:42:03for your arena, that's one that's worth
00:42:05the price of admission alone.
00:42:07Doom and the horsemen for the world tag team titles.
00:42:09And if Doom looks past the rock and roll
00:42:11preparing for the horsemen,
00:42:13whoa, snap, suplex on the floor.
00:42:16Rock and roll have the ability to upset Doom
00:42:18in that type environment.
00:42:21It's a savage attack now by Simmons
00:42:23outside of the ring, as he just lifts Batten up
00:42:25to roll him back into the ring,
00:42:27right at the feet.
00:42:32Batten now trying to fight back
00:42:34on Hacksaw Butch Reed.
00:42:36He's firing away with all he's got.
00:42:38Trying to take Reed off his feet
00:42:40to no avail thus far,
00:42:42and Reed just puts him.
00:42:44He was an All-American linebacker
00:42:46in junior college and in NAI football
00:42:48I don't think he was a punter,
00:42:50but he certainly has a qualification.
00:42:52I was going to say, maybe he did a little kicking
00:42:54while he was there also.
00:42:58Look at this.
00:43:00Great strength.
00:43:02And as you said, Bob,
00:43:04both Reed and Simmons
00:43:06are tremendously gifted athletes.
00:43:08Their attitudes are very undesirous.
00:43:10They're not the greatest role models
00:43:12for their fans, if they have any,
00:43:14but they are certainly bad, bad athletes.
00:43:16Well, not only are they outstanding,
00:43:18awesome physical specimen, Jim,
00:43:20but as you said, they're great athletes.
00:43:22They've got the athletic ability
00:43:24to go along with it.
00:43:26Both of them having been outstanding
00:43:28football players, and I tell you,
00:43:30I guess you've got to hand it to Teddy Long.
00:43:32He has molded them and turned them
00:43:34into an outstanding tag-team combination.
00:43:36As a matter of fact,
00:43:38the very finest in the world tag-team champions.
00:43:40Bob, while we have a moment,
00:43:42I'm sure the fans would like to hear
00:43:44about the big card coming up Friday night.
00:43:46Two big events this Friday night for the fans.
00:43:48Oh, Friday is a big night, Jim,
00:43:50as the NWA will return to Columbus, Ohio
00:43:52at 8 o'clock at the State Fairgrounds
00:43:54and then in Corpus Christi, Texas
00:43:56at 8 o'clock at Memorial Coliseum.
00:43:58That's on Friday.
00:44:00That's a big, big night,
00:44:02big night of action for the NWA.
00:44:04Columbus, Ohio,
00:44:06always a great town for the NWA,
00:44:08great city.
00:44:10This Friday night, State Fairgrounds Coliseum
00:44:12at 8 o'clock in Columbus, Ohio.
00:44:14All the stars will be there.
00:44:16More on that in our second hour
00:44:18here on TBS tonight.
00:44:20Brad Batten trying to fight his way out
00:44:22of that overhand wristlock by Butch Reed.
00:44:24Reed used the hair even though he probably
00:44:26didn't need to.
00:44:28Reed's upper body strength matches up
00:44:30very favorably with anybody in the sport.
00:44:32Yeah, he never needs to go to that.
00:44:34I can't think of anybody you could put him in the ring with
00:44:36that he would need to go to the hair.
00:44:38You know, Bob,
00:44:40I've talked to any of the old-timers,
00:44:42the veterans that have retired from active
00:44:44wrestling, the greats of the game,
00:44:46and they'll tell you that some of the biggest changes
00:44:48in the technology of wrestling
00:44:50not only has to do with our superb
00:44:52production values now but also
00:44:54the fact that we're seeing bigger
00:44:56men, men that were just as quick as
00:44:58junior heavyweights in another generation
00:45:00but possess this 400 and 500
00:45:02pound bench press strength.
00:45:04That's been a big difference in wrestling,
00:45:06especially now that we've moved into the 90s.
00:45:08Jim, there's always been a lot of power
00:45:10there, but like all of the other professional
00:45:12sports, and all sports really, you take
00:45:14the football, baseball, anything
00:45:16you want to mention, it's speed
00:45:18and it's quickness, and that also has moved
00:45:20into professional wrestling. They're a lot
00:45:22quicker, they've got a lot more speed
00:45:24than they used to have years ago.
00:45:26One of those new power teams trying to
00:45:28earn their reputation here in the NWA,
00:45:30the Master Blasters,
00:45:32will be the subject of the video feature here
00:45:34in a few moments.
00:45:36Matt Batten, nice leapfrog,
00:45:38catches Reed with a forearm
00:45:40with all he's got, and Batten finally
00:45:42puts him down but Reed powers out.
00:45:44Batten's got
00:45:46a lot of intestinal fortitude,
00:45:48he's giving it his all.
00:45:50Nice neckbreaker by Reed.
00:45:54Very aggressive.
00:45:58Their style is a
00:46:00kind of a hit you in the mouth type wrestling
00:46:02style, they're not going to do anything fancy,
00:46:04take a lot of chances. What they're going to do
00:46:06is come right at you and they're going to beat you.
00:46:08And they're going to beat you with high impact moves
00:46:10as rapidly as they can.
00:46:12Reed sizing up Brad Batten.
00:46:14Another high impact
00:46:16move off the second turnbuckle,
00:46:18but Reed picks up Batten,
00:46:20refuses to have him pinned here.
00:46:22Jim, as you mentioned,
00:46:24every move they make is high impact.
00:46:26Everything they do, it's out
00:46:28to hurt, to injure the opponent.
00:46:35Remember fans, still to come
00:46:37in our two hour broadcast,
00:46:39we'll take a look at the wild man,
00:46:41Stan Hanson, who is lobbying
00:46:43for a U.S. title match with Lex Luger.
00:46:45Terry Taylor will be with us, the Rock and Roll
00:46:47Express, Mean Mark, Captain Mike
00:46:49and Tim Horner in tag team action
00:46:51against the State Patrol.
00:46:53I'll talk to the Southern boys
00:46:55and much more coming up in our second hour
00:46:57here tonight on TBS.
00:47:01Boy, you don't lose anything when they tag,
00:47:03do you Jim? Out goes Butch Reed,
00:47:05in comes big Ron Simmons.
00:47:09It's like a great college football team
00:47:11with two All-American tailbacks.
00:47:13Like in the days of the Pony Express
00:47:15and Southern Methodists when they had Craig James
00:47:17and Eric Dickerson, two 1,000 yard
00:47:19rushers. The equivalent is
00:47:21Ron Simmons and Butch Reed.
00:47:23And finally, Batten makes
00:47:25a tag to Joe Barrett, and Barrett's
00:47:27coming in with all he's got, fighting
00:47:29for his proverbial wrestling life here,
00:47:31but Ron Simmons muscles him up.
00:47:33That is power.
00:47:35Barrett was fighting all the way up
00:47:37to try to block that power
00:47:39slam, but he couldn't get it done.
00:47:41Just too much power and too much force
00:47:43from Simmons. No way
00:47:45that Barrett can control it.
00:47:47Well, I tell you, they go for the
00:47:49spine. You'd think they were sponsored by the
00:47:51American Chiropractic Association,
00:47:53the chiropractor's favorite wrestling team,
00:47:55doomed. Simmons
00:47:57set him up, and Reed
00:47:59put him away.
00:48:03Here are your winners,
00:48:05these world tag team champions,
00:48:07the team of
00:48:09Doom.
00:48:11Well, take a look
00:48:13at the Master Blasters, another power
00:48:15team, but this is the one they're measured
00:48:17by. Well, this is what tag team
00:48:19wrestling is all about. It's teamwork,
00:48:21and Doom does it perfectly.
00:48:23As you say, he was set up by
00:48:25Simmons, and Reed finished him off.
00:48:27Let's take a look now, ladies and
00:48:29gentlemen, at the Master
00:48:31Blasters.
00:48:57The following contest, it is set for one fall. Introducing first, from Vero Beach, Florida, weighing 241 pounds, Terese Taylor!
00:49:28His opponent, from Los Angeles,
00:49:30California, 233
00:49:32pounds, Scrap Iron
00:49:34Bill Ford!
00:49:36One of our old friends, Terry Taylor, back
00:49:38in the NWA, there's Scrap Iron Bill
00:49:40Ford. Terry Taylor, very happy to be
00:49:42back in the National Wrestling Alliance,
00:49:44and here's what he had to say earlier today.
00:49:48Welcome
00:49:50home! Yeah, that's what a lot of people have been saying
00:49:52to me. They said, welcome back to the NWA!
00:49:54And yes, it's great to be here.
00:49:56I know it's not going to be easy. I know
00:49:58everybody's lining up to take a shot at me,
00:50:00but with your support, everybody out there, we can
00:50:02go straight to the top. We can do it!
00:50:08Terry Taylor, Bob, one of the most personal young
00:50:10athletes in world championship wrestling, and I
00:50:12can tell you, he's really happy. Feels like
00:50:14he's back home here in the NWA,
00:50:16and as he said, the competition here,
00:50:18and he should know, is as tough as
00:50:20anywhere in the world today. Well, he says
00:50:22this is where the toughest competition is, and
00:50:24I think he's 100% right about that, and that's
00:50:26where all the great athletes want to be.
00:50:28You know, there's a lot of pride,
00:50:30and all of them have that pride, and
00:50:32when they win, and when they defeat someone,
00:50:34when they win a championship,
00:50:36they want to do it from their very best, and that's what
00:50:38the NWA means to them.
00:50:40Terry Taylor has never crowed about
00:50:42his success. He's always been a very
00:50:44humble kid. He's always, the kid has
00:50:46always competed very, very intently
00:50:48and intensely, for that
00:50:50matter, in the squared circle. He knows
00:50:52that for him to win championships
00:50:54or get championship opportunities,
00:50:56and he's been a champion in the NWA.
00:50:58He's going to have to start at the bottom
00:51:00and work his way up, and he's more than willing to
00:51:02accept any challenge that
00:51:04anyone makes. He's ready to sign a contract
00:51:06with anyone in the NWA.
00:51:08Yeah, we talked to Terry, Jim,
00:51:10and that's what he said, as a matter of fact.
00:51:12I know I'm not going to step right in,
00:51:14I know I'm not going to get the championship bout right
00:51:16off of the top, but I tell you, I'm willing
00:51:18to work for it, I'll work hard for it,
00:51:20and when I get it, I'll be ready. And you know,
00:51:22he will, I'm sure of that.
00:51:24He's just that type of an individual.
00:51:28Scrap Iron Bill Ford
00:51:30tumbles right outside.
00:51:32Terry Taylor showing great
00:51:34sportsmanship, not going out after Ford.
00:51:38Waiting some, what, impatiently,
00:51:40but with sportsmanship
00:51:42back in the ring. But this is one
00:51:44way to get your opponent back into the squared circle.
00:51:46There's a little
00:51:48assist from Taylor. Fans, remember, tomorrow
00:51:50night, all of you NWA
00:51:52fans, Fort Worth, Texas, the NWA
00:51:54will be in Fort Worth
00:51:56at the Tarrant County Convention
00:51:58Center tomorrow night, and also
00:52:00tomorrow night, in Springfield, Missouri
00:52:02at the Shrine Mosque. That just
00:52:04begins a great, great week, Jim.
00:52:06Monday night, Gainesville, Georgia,
00:52:08at the Georgia Mountain Center, and then Tuesday
00:52:10in Dayton, Ohio, at
00:52:12the UD Arena, and in Beaumont,
00:52:14Texas, at the Civic Center.
00:52:16We'll be telling
00:52:18you fans about where you can see World Championship
00:52:20wrestling more as the second hour progresses here.
00:52:22Another clean break
00:52:24by Terry Taylor. Terry
00:52:26Taylor, son of a
00:52:28physician from Vero Beach, Florida, an outstanding
00:52:30college football player.
00:52:32Played at Guilford
00:52:34College, not known for their, as a
00:52:36football powerhouse, but Taylor
00:52:38played there, quite
00:52:40admirably, I might add. Nice football
00:52:42tackle by Bill Ford.
00:52:46While Taylor was playing college
00:52:48football, Bill Ford was collecting hubcaps
00:52:50in L.A.
00:52:52That's where the name Scrap Iron came from, was it?
00:52:54There you go, Bob. Yes, sir.
00:52:56Mike Atkins down.
00:52:58Taking a close look as Ford
00:53:00trying to control Taylor with a side headlock.
00:53:02He's got good pressure
00:53:04in that headlock, too, Jim. He's got it locked in tight.
00:53:06He's got a powerful upper body.
00:53:08He's got a lot of strength in that arm,
00:53:10and in those shoulders, and he's giving it
00:53:12all to Taylor right now.
00:53:14Good move by Taylor, though. Good counter-wrestling by Terry
00:53:16Taylor.
00:53:20And Ford catches Taylor coming in.
00:53:24Taylor backs him in the corner.
00:53:26Good forearm.
00:53:28Follows it with a chest, or a
00:53:30slap to the chest,
00:53:32judo chop.
00:53:34Drops that knee right on the head of
00:53:36Scrap Iron Bill Ford. This might be
00:53:38a draw here, and we're about a half a count
00:53:40away from a win for Terry Taylor.
00:53:44Taylor right back
00:53:46on the attack, though, Jim. He's not gonna give
00:53:48Scrap Iron any breathing room.
00:53:50Back with that wrist lock again, and he stayed right
00:53:52on the offensive.
00:53:54Taylor dropping the
00:53:56arm right across the
00:53:58bicep and tricep area. Scrap Iron
00:54:00Bill Ford trying to Charlie
00:54:02horse that arm up before he knotted up.
00:54:04Ford, though,
00:54:06forces Taylor back to the corner.
00:54:08Shoulder blocks there.
00:54:10Here comes the Irish whip. Taylor for the ride.
00:54:12And Scrap Iron Bill Ford
00:54:14found nothing there but imagination.
00:54:16Taylor with a dropkick. Caught him around the butt.
00:54:20That's gonna slow it down, though. Out of the ring he goes.
00:54:22That was about the only thing he could do at that point.
00:54:24Taylor senses that Scrap Iron Bill Ford
00:54:26may be on the ropes.
00:54:28Gonna try to get him back in the ring here.
00:54:30Right hand by Taylor.
00:54:36Another ride and forces
00:54:38Ford back into the ring.
00:54:40Ford may have a better
00:54:42idea, but he hasn't exhibited
00:54:44yet here on World Championship
00:54:46Wrestling. Interesting move
00:54:48there by Terry Taylor.
00:54:54Uses his head as a battering ram.
00:54:56Uses his head as a battering ram
00:54:58right under the jaw there
00:55:00of Scrap Iron Bill Ford.
00:55:02Jim, there's no doubt
00:55:04Terry Taylor on his return to the NWA.
00:55:06He wants to make a good showing
00:55:08for all of the fans. He went out of the ring
00:55:10after Ford. And he, I tell you,
00:55:12he's really, he's been
00:55:14after him ever since he opened the bell.
00:55:16He hasn't slowed up a bit. Taylor's wrestling
00:55:18a very aggressive match. Again, going for the pin.
00:55:20Again, coming very close to defeating
00:55:22Scrap Iron Bill Ford.
00:55:24Taylor wants championship matches
00:55:26and that's what we've been hearing from Stan
00:55:28the Lariat Hanson. He wants to take
00:55:30on Lex Luger for the U.S. Championship.
00:55:32We'll focus a little bit more
00:55:34on that as this hour progresses.
00:55:36It's another
00:55:38match. We've talked about the Horseman challenging
00:55:40Dune for the World Tag Titles. I want
00:55:42to be there when Stan Hanson,
00:55:44the bad man from Borger, Texas, puts it
00:55:46all on the line against the U.S.
00:55:48Champion Lex Luger.
00:55:50You know,
00:55:52when the likes of the Horseman
00:55:54and then you add Stan Hanson to it,
00:55:56all of those after Luger, Luger
00:55:58must think, hey man, I've stepped into a
00:56:00lion's den or something.
00:56:02But Bob, he loves to compete. I think he's
00:56:04ready for it. Bill Ford
00:56:06better get ready for a trip
00:56:08to the chiropractor because Taylor really
00:56:10elevated him there. There's Taylor's
00:56:12five arm.
00:56:14The five arm by Terry Taylor
00:56:16and that's enough. Taylor has
00:56:18won it on TBS. Here's your
00:56:20winner, Terry
00:56:22Taylor. Taylor on the
00:56:24big event tomorrow night in Fort Worth, Texas
00:56:26at the Tarrant County Convention Center
00:56:28and the five arm
00:56:30worked quite well, Bob.
00:56:32Jimmy was perfect as he landed it right
00:56:34on the jaw. All
00:56:36he had to do at that point was cover for it.
00:56:38One, two, three, the winner there
00:56:40on a return to the NWA
00:56:42and a good win for Terry Taylor. Stan
00:56:44Hanson is next on TBS.

00:59:18has been disqualified!
00:59:20The winner of the match,
00:59:22Dave Studemeyer!
00:59:29Hey!
00:59:30Break it up!
00:59:36Get off of him, Hanson!
00:59:37Get off of him, Hanson!
00:59:38Back to the drift room!
00:59:47Stan Hanson,
00:59:48great athletic background,
00:59:50probably the most feared wrestler ever
00:59:51overseas and in Japan.
00:59:53Now he's come over to the States,
00:59:55and he wants a piece of the total package.
00:59:57He wants a shot at the US title.
00:59:59He's got a reputation as a bounty hunter.
01:00:01He doesn't wrestle.
01:00:02When you go in the ring with Stan Hanson,
01:00:03it's a fight for your life.
01:00:05Well, Stan Hanson,
01:00:06I've said it once.
01:00:07I've said it a thousand times.
01:00:08I'll wrestle anybody and everybody
01:00:09for the US title.
01:00:10My name goes without a line.
01:00:11You sign it.
01:00:12You got your shot.
01:00:13Let's go after it, Stan Hanson,
01:00:14you and me.
01:00:26From Memphis, Tennessee,
01:00:28total combined weight,
01:00:29440 pounds,
01:00:32Ricky Morrison,
01:00:33Robert Gibson,
01:00:35The Rock,
01:00:36Abel,
01:00:38and Chris!
01:00:42Their opponents from Tampa, Florida,
01:00:44The Dynamites!
01:00:48Dynamites making their debut here
01:00:49on World Championship Wrestling.
01:00:53I guess for the lack of creativity,
01:00:55we'll call them Dynamite One
01:00:56and Dynamite Two, Bob,
01:00:57unless you'd like to call them
01:00:58Dynamite A and Dynamite B.
01:01:01Either one is sufficient.
01:01:02TNT, Jim, how about that?
01:01:05Fans, Rock and Roll Express
01:01:07won another match with the Doom.
01:01:09For the World Tag Titles,
01:01:10they've got it.
01:01:11And here's what they had to say
01:01:12about that upcoming matchup.
01:01:15Hey, tell you what,
01:01:16we showed the whole world
01:01:17we can beat your team, Doom.
01:01:18And now, brother,
01:01:19me and brother got one thing in mind.
01:01:20We're coming five times
01:01:21World Tag Team Champions.
01:01:22That's right.
01:01:23The fans want to see it
01:01:24and NWA wants to see it.
01:01:25Tell you what,
01:01:26it won't be long
01:01:27because every waking moment
01:01:28we think of the World Titles.
01:01:36Dynamite Number One there
01:01:38with the blonde hair
01:01:40being taken over by Robert Gibson
01:01:43and high elevation by Robert.
01:01:46And the second Dynamite comes in,
01:01:49we're going to get names
01:01:50for these guys, Bob.
01:01:51Well, you know,
01:01:52we're getting a lot of names
01:01:53for them, Jim,
01:01:54like Nitro and Glycerin,
01:01:56TNT.
01:01:57Somebody said,
01:01:58hey, call them Stick and Fuse.
01:02:00Any kind of thing like that
01:02:01we can come up with, I guess.
01:02:02They may be Stick and Confuse
01:02:04before it's all over
01:02:05with the Rock and Roll Express
01:02:07on a real roll.
01:02:08I'll tell you what,
01:02:09they have shown the fans
01:02:10that in a non-title event
01:02:12that they can take the measure of Doom.
01:02:14One of the few blemishes
01:02:15on Doom's record
01:02:16was in a non-title event
01:02:17with the Rock and Roll Express.
01:02:19Ricky Morton
01:02:20going for the pin there,
01:02:22but the NWA
01:02:23has granted Rock and Roll
01:02:24a rematch
01:02:25for the World Tag Titles.
01:02:26I know Ricky and Robert
01:02:27are training very, very hard
01:02:29for that upcoming match.
01:02:30Well, having upset them
01:02:31in that non-title match, Jim,
01:02:32they certainly deserve
01:02:33that championship match.
01:02:35And as you said,
01:02:36these two are working for that.
01:02:38They're looking forward to it,
01:02:39working extremely hard,
01:02:41and they did it once.
01:02:42There's no reason
01:02:43they can't do it again.
01:02:45Half Nelson by Ricky Morton
01:02:46has got the leg grapevine,
01:02:47or the arm grapevine there.
01:02:50Turning the man over
01:02:51on his shoulders.
01:02:52Of course, in amateur wrestling,
01:02:53it only takes a one count
01:02:54and the pros, it's three.
01:02:56Nice hip lock.
01:02:57Takeover by Ricky Morton.
01:03:00Rock and Roll never forgets
01:03:02and never have forgotten
01:03:03how it feels to wear
01:03:04the World Tag Team Championship.
01:03:08And again, Monday night,
01:03:09we'll be back in Gainesville, Georgia,
01:03:11the Georgia Mountain Center,
01:03:12national television taping.
01:03:13All the stars will be there,
01:03:15including nature boy
01:03:16Ric Flair and the Horsemen.
01:03:18We encourage you fans
01:03:19in the Gainesville area
01:03:20to bring your posters
01:03:21and your banners.
01:03:22Be on national television
01:03:23beginning at 730 this Monday night
01:03:26in the beautiful
01:03:27Georgia Mountain Center
01:03:28in Gainesville, Georgia.
01:03:29Also, Jim, Wednesday night,
01:03:30the NWA will be on tour
01:03:32in Canton, Ohio,
01:03:33at Pacific Center
01:03:34and in San Antonio, Texas.
01:03:38That's at the Blossom Athletic Center
01:03:40in San Antonio, right?
01:03:41Jose Lothario will be in San Antonio
01:03:43for that big event.
01:03:46Always like to say hello
01:03:47to our good friend Joe Blanchard
01:03:48who lives in San Antonio.
01:03:50Former great competitor
01:03:51for the NWA.
01:03:55Very classy gentleman as well,
01:03:57and I'm sure that fans
01:03:58always look forward
01:03:59to seeing their good friend
01:04:00and native now,
01:04:02so to speak, of San Antonio.
01:04:04Joe's lived there
01:04:05quite some time.
01:04:07Nice drop toehold
01:04:08by Robert Gibson
01:04:09with a float over.
01:04:10This team, Dynamite,
01:04:11certainly has a little
01:04:13different style,
01:04:14quite obviously,
01:04:15from Doom.
01:04:16Doom, a power team.
01:04:17Dynamite, obviously,
01:04:19a quick team,
01:04:20a team that possesses
01:04:21a lot of quickness,
01:04:22but they're in with a team
01:04:23that if you look up
01:04:24in the dictionary
01:04:25the term quick in wrestling,
01:04:26their pictures are kind of
01:04:27right there.
01:04:28Yeah, but they haven't
01:04:29exploded yet as Dynamite.
01:04:31Maybe somebody's got
01:04:32to light their fuse.
01:04:37Nick Patrick,
01:04:38the referee there,
01:04:39taking a look at the shoulders
01:04:40of Robert Gibson.
01:04:41A couple of two counts there
01:04:43as Gibson was rolled over
01:04:44on his shoulders.
01:04:45Another quick exchange.
01:04:46You notice the Rock and Roll
01:04:47Express have tagged in
01:04:48and out several times
01:04:49already in the contest.
01:04:50Dynamite has only
01:04:51tagged in once.
01:04:54Well, Rock and Roll, Jim,
01:04:55having been together
01:04:56as a tag team for
01:04:57several years now,
01:04:59they think alike.
01:05:00They know what tag team
01:05:01wrestling is all about.
01:05:02They know what the other
01:05:03man is thinking,
01:05:04and I tell you,
01:05:05that's something that
01:05:06you can't overcome
01:05:07in the ring.
01:05:08If you've got that,
01:05:09you've got a lot going
01:05:10for you in your corner,
01:05:11and all successful
01:05:12tag teams are that way.
01:05:14They've been together
01:05:15for some time.
01:05:16They switch a lot.
01:05:17They tag a lot.
01:05:18They keep a fresh
01:05:19man in the ring.
01:05:20You know, Bob,
01:05:21we're here in the month
01:05:22of September.
01:05:23Football season is here.
01:05:24They say that in football
01:05:25you can't replace
01:05:26or substitute for
01:05:27quickness or for
01:05:28experience,
01:05:29and Ricky Morton
01:05:30and Robert Gibson
01:05:31in wrestling
01:05:32possess both
01:05:33those attributes.
01:05:34Jim, they've got it,
01:05:35and they've got it
01:05:36in spades
01:05:37have the Rock and Roll.
01:05:38Their debut
01:05:39into the NWA
01:05:40was a resounding one.
01:05:41Their first night
01:05:42in the NWA,
01:05:43they were able
01:05:44to secure
01:05:45a championship
01:05:46matchup
01:05:47against
01:05:48Ivan Koloff
01:05:49and Nikita Khrushchev.
01:05:50They won that match.
01:05:51They began their
01:05:52first night
01:05:53in the NWA
01:05:54to begin their
01:05:55first title run
01:05:56as World Tag Team
01:05:57champions,
01:05:58and they've really
01:05:59never looked back
01:06:00since that moment.
01:06:01And I tell you another
01:06:02thing,
01:06:03Dune better not
01:06:04be looking ahead,
01:06:05and Dune better
01:06:06take them very seriously
01:06:07or Dune could be
01:06:08former
01:06:09World Tag Team
01:06:10champions.
01:06:14Robert Gibson
01:06:15dropping the knees
01:06:17right into that
01:06:18reverse chin lock.
01:06:20Paul E. Danesley
01:06:21and Mean Mark

01:06:27It should be an
01:06:28outstanding
01:06:29Tag Team event.
01:06:30I'll also be talking
01:06:31to the Southern Boys
01:06:32here on the show.
01:06:34He's talking about
01:06:35outstanding events.
01:06:36Don't forget,

01:06:55a fan of wrestling
01:06:56and you want to watch
01:06:57great wrestling

01:07:23We'll talk more about that
01:07:24this Sunday night

01:07:35Ricky Martin
01:07:36turning the table.
01:07:37Nice Irish whip.
01:07:39And a big elbow
01:07:40right to the face.
01:07:48Vertical suplex
01:07:49by Ricky Martin.
01:07:52And dynamite skews
01:07:53maybe getting ready
01:07:54to be snuffed out here.
01:08:05Jim,
01:08:06you can hear him there
01:08:07saying he likes a man
01:08:08with a little bit of spunk.
01:08:10And again,

01:08:15He went to the full Nelson.
01:08:17Dropped down into a cradle.
01:08:22Test of strength here.
01:08:23I think Gibson
01:08:24will have the advantage
01:08:25in this situation.
01:08:26Well,
01:08:27Gibson looks like
01:08:28the stronger of the two.
01:08:29He's got the bigger
01:08:30and stronger upper body.
01:08:32Robert Gibson
01:08:33in that front face lock
01:08:34again tagging in
01:08:35Ricky Martin.
01:08:38If you fans

01:08:54perhaps double
01:08:55drop kick time

01:09:02Gibson to Martin.
01:09:03No!
01:09:04Four feet
01:09:05to the face.
01:09:07And that equals

01:09:24having worked together
01:09:25for a long time,
01:09:26and just what that means
01:09:27to a team.
01:09:28The timing is perfect

01:10:18Call your cable operator for availability, if you dare.
01:10:23Introducing first, accompanied by his manager,
01:10:28Paul E. Dinkinsley, from Houston, Texas,
01:10:33weighing 321 pounds, meeting Mark Collins.
01:10:41Paul E. will be with me this Friday night. Fans on the Danger Zone,
01:10:44or excuse me, on the Power Hour, that show will originate from the China Club in New York City.
01:10:49His opponent from Los Angeles, California, 237 pounds, Rick Ford.
01:10:55By young athlete Rick Ford, they call him the Mean Mark,
01:10:59and Paul E. Dinkinsley always has something to say, and today is no exception.
01:11:05Here are his comments.
01:11:08You know, Mean Mark Callison, I find it so very funny
01:11:13that nobody can come out here and say,
01:11:16yes, I have figured out who the Black Scorpion is.
01:11:26Rick Ford tossed outside by the 6'9", 320 pounder,
01:11:30and as I mentioned, this Friday night on the Power Hour,
01:11:32Paul E. and I will be coming to you from the world-famous China Club in New York City.
01:11:37I think you'll find the program most interesting,
01:11:39especially because, man, Paul E. has got the referee distracted,
01:11:44and Mean Mark has just gone crazy.
01:11:48Jim, that's uncalled for. A man the size of Mean Mark.
01:11:53He's overpowered the opponent.
01:11:56From the opening bell, he says, hey, I can handle you, I can do anything I want to with you.
01:12:00Why in the world would you try to do to a young man what he's doing to him?
01:12:04Bob, he's just a very coldly sadistic individual,
01:12:08and I think that's a great deal,
01:12:12the credit of that, a great deal has to go to Paul E. Dangerously
01:12:15and his very sick form of motivation.
01:12:21Now Mark is out of the mold of the athletes that we talked about, Jim,
01:12:24so big and so strong and so powerful, yet so quick and so agile.
01:12:29When you get a man the size of Mean Mark, as big and as strong as he is,
01:12:33that has the athletic ability to walk down the ropes like he does,
01:12:36with the agility that he had, unheard of a few years ago.
01:12:41Paul E. reminds me of guys you used to see in the study hall
01:12:44that were always causing trouble, could never back it up,
01:12:47never played football, never played any sport,
01:12:50never was involved in any extracurricular activity.
01:12:52Always egging somebody else on, Jim, and pushing him to the front end.
01:12:57Right there.
01:13:02The board's hand rammed viciously into the turnbuckle by Mean Mark.
01:13:06Again, this Friday night, on the Power Hour,
01:13:10Flyin' Brian will be the first man on World Championship Wrestling
01:13:13to attempt to run the gauntlet.
01:13:16Remember, it's very simple.
01:13:18Paul E., we will have a drawing, and we'll draw a name out,
01:13:23and that will be Flyin' Brian's opponent on Friday night.
01:13:26If he wins on Friday night, he advances to Saturday.
01:13:29He'll draw another name, another surprise opponent.
01:13:33If he wins on Saturday on World Championship Wrestling, right here,
01:13:37he will advance to Sunday's main event.
01:13:39If he wins there, he'll win $15,000.
01:13:42If he loses anywhere along the line,
01:13:44his three opponents on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will split the $15,000.
01:13:52We'll start that on our very special broadcast.
01:13:54Much of it produced in the Big Apple.
01:13:57This coming Friday night on TBS.
01:13:59And now the big guy.
01:14:01Well, we talked about him on the ropes, Jim.
01:14:03Here, watch it.
01:14:06Great impact.
01:14:08The heat-seeking missile.
01:14:09Mean Mark with Paul E. has won it.
01:14:11Here's your winner, Mean Mark Allen!
01:14:16Still to come, tag team action.
01:14:18Captain Mike and Tim Horner to take on the State Patrol.
01:14:22As I'll talk to the wild-eyed Southern boys.
01:14:25But first, another look.
01:14:27Well, we talked about the tremendous power of this man.
01:14:30The agility and the athletic abilities.
01:14:32He goes down the ropes, out of the air.
01:14:34Look at that tremendous power behind the elbow blow.
01:14:38We've got more on TBS and World Championship Wrestling.
01:14:41Don't go away.
01:14:42This is TBS.
01:14:52Tag Team Event.
01:14:53It is set for one fall.
01:14:55Introducing first to my right, from Morristown, Tennessee, Tim Horner.
01:15:03His tag team partner from Syracuse, New York, Captain Mike Rotunda.
01:15:12And ladies and gentlemen, their opponents, Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker,
01:15:16Lieutenant James Earl Ruff.
01:15:18Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker, Lieutenant James Earl Wright.
01:15:21The State Patrol.
01:15:29Tag Team Action here on TBS.
01:15:31Jim Ross and Bob Cottle back with you.
01:15:33Thanks very much, ladies and gentlemen, for allowing us to be a part of your Saturday here on TBS.
01:15:39And we hope that you'll stay with us.
01:15:40As we've been saying, this Sunday night, 6.05, the main event is Barry Wyndham and Lex Luger.
01:15:45Thursday night, 10.05, Eastern Time.
01:15:48Clash 12 repeat.
01:15:50Another look at the very eerie circumstances involving the Sting-Lex Scorpion matchup.
01:15:57Plus another look at that brutal confrontation with Ric Flair and Lex Luger.
01:16:02And then Friday night, 10.20, our broadcast coming to you from the Big Apple,
01:16:07the China Club in New York City.
01:16:09And it will be Flyin' Brian attempting to be the first man to run the gauntlet.
01:16:14He'll kick it off Friday night on the Power Hour.
01:16:17A great week here on TBS.
01:16:19And Jim, let me tell you this.
01:16:20You know, last week I called the 900 number, and I learned a lot.
01:16:24I got a lot of information from that.
01:16:26I really enjoyed that call.
01:16:27And I tell you, I got some special information on there tonight on the Wrestling Hotline.
01:16:32It's a real treat, fans.
01:16:331-900-909-9900.
01:16:36So I tell you, Jim, I think everybody be wise.
01:16:38Pick up the phone tonight and call the Wrestling Hotline.
01:16:41I've got some inside information, Bob, on the Black Scorpion.
01:16:43It hasn't quite been founded yet, but I hope to have it before we go off the air
01:16:47or shortly thereafter.
01:16:48So fans, call the Wrestling Hotline tonight, 1-900-909-9900.
01:16:53And kids, if you're going to call, be sure you get your parents' permission before you call.
01:16:57Side headlock on Lieutenant James Earl Wright by Tim Horner.
01:17:03Horner is an outstanding athlete, very, very strong, and as you can see, extremely agile.
01:17:09And he's another one, though, that really relies on his quickness and his speed and his agility.
01:17:13Henry.
01:17:15Captain Mike Rotunda in there.
01:17:17He knows how to use all the tools he's got.
01:17:21Rotunda and Horner, both with great dropkicks on the State Patrol.
01:17:29Boy, they are a belligerent pair of former police officers.
01:17:35You don't have to be very imaginative to think of the reasons.
01:17:39I'm sure there were many why they're not on the force anymore.
01:17:43Rotunda, the great athlete out of Syracuse.
01:17:47Outstanding wrestler at Syracuse in college, as well as an outstanding football player, Jim.
01:17:51You know, Bob, we talked about the hotline tonight.
01:17:55Our fans, they call the hotline regularly on October the 5th.
01:17:59It's the Great American Fans Jam, the biggest party line ever of wrestling fans.
01:18:04We'll be talking more about that. That's on October the 5th.
01:18:07Great American Fans Jam on the hotline.
01:18:11Nice move there by Tim Horner.
01:18:14Lieutenant James Earl Wright was going to try to get one move ahead of Horner, but it didn't work out that time.
01:18:19No, Horner was ahead of him with that.
01:18:21He saw that coming, just grabbed the rope, held right on, went down for the headlock.
01:18:25Nice overhand wrist lock and a tag made.
01:18:28Here comes Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker.
01:18:31Liam, the overhand wrist lock, and Horner takes a short cut out of it.
01:18:36Great counter move there by Timmy Horner from Morristown, Tennessee.
01:18:41A couple of elbows there.
01:18:43He took them both on, Jim, and it was just pure athletic ability that he was able to do it.
01:18:51Mike Rotunda, who was trained by Dick Byer, former All-American wrestler,
01:18:57former pro in his own right from Syracuse.
01:19:00Rotunda has wrestled for the New York Athletic Club.
01:19:04Great two-sport star. He was a two-sport star before it became real fashionable.
01:19:09If it had been in this day and time, he'd be saying, Mike knows instead of Bo knows. I don't know.
01:19:16Defensive tackle and captain of the Syracuse Archers.
01:19:20Starting heavyweight wrestler.
01:19:22And has really been able to make the transition very smoothly into the pros.
01:19:27Rotunda, former world tag team champion.
01:19:29He's been a world television champion.
01:19:36Well, each time that he's tried coming off of the ropes,
01:19:40Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker's grabbed him by the hand.
01:19:43That time he was able to break it.
01:19:47Boy, he had power and force behind that. He was like a missile.
01:19:52Rotunda has great size.
01:19:55His size is very misleading. He's about 250.
01:19:58Nice lateral press. Great by the leg.
01:20:01Floats over to the front face lock.
01:20:03And now Rotunda can control the tempo.
01:20:06They say if you control the head, you control the body.
01:20:08That cliche coined over the years by our colleague Gordon Soley,
01:20:13who will be back with us Friday night on the Wrestling News Network.
01:20:18Buddy Lee Parker was too close to his corner.
01:20:22James Earl Wright was right there to give him the little pull and the little assist that he needed.
01:20:31Mike Atkins having a debate with the lieutenant there. I don't know who won that one.
01:20:36Tyler and Tim Horner complement each other very well as a tag team.
01:20:40They're very cohesive thus far in this contest.
01:20:43Snip suplex by Tim Horner.
01:20:45Again, floats over. Great by the leg, but only got one out of it.
01:20:50Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker with that low center of gravity is a real tough competitor.
01:20:55What you're saying is, Jim, he's got short legs.
01:20:58Well, he's not the tallest guy, but...
01:21:00And right there...
01:21:02I can relate to that.
01:21:04He may get demoted. Me too, Bob.
01:21:06He may get his stripes taken away there after nailing the lieutenant.
01:21:10Nice wrist lock by Horner.
01:21:12Good, basic, sound wrestling strategy here.
01:21:16Horner attendant.
01:21:18And, Bob, it looks like they've attended for years.
01:21:20That's right. They're tagging, they're switching, they're staying together.
01:21:24Jim, I think they had a good game plan for this match.
01:21:26They knew where they were going to be in against a couple of real tough ones.
01:21:29They had it mapped out, they had it planned, and I think they're sticking to it.
01:21:34I know that I talked to Mike about this.
01:21:38I know that I talked to Mike and Tim before we were on the air.
01:21:41They've got a contract signed to go against that big power team called the Master Blasters.
01:21:47They're looking forward to that showdown.
01:21:51Trying to take advantage of the double team here.
01:21:54Break of the eyes by Lieutenant James Earl Wright.
01:21:57Captain Mike temporarily blinded here.
01:22:00Strong elbow.
01:22:02Well, that was right on the mouth.
01:22:03It certainly was.
01:22:05I'll tell you, Lieutenant James Earl Wright's got great upper body strength as well.
01:22:08These guys are just hard to move around.
01:22:15Built along the lines of the great running back of the Falcons, Steve Broussard.
01:22:19Outstanding rookie.
01:22:22That's about 5'9", 2'10".
01:22:27Well, a ton of them calling on that experience, Jim.
01:22:30He just dug down to get it out.
01:22:32Look at Horner.
01:22:33Extends the legs.
01:22:34Good drop kick.
01:22:35Another near fall.
01:22:37Well, Horner in return of this will give the State Patrol a moment's respite,
01:22:43but that mistake was created by good strategy by Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker.
01:22:49We said he was strong, and right there's evidence of that statement.
01:22:53And they've got a double team in business.
01:22:55They've got him in their corner now.
01:22:56There's no man's land in Jim Horner.
01:23:03Power slam.
01:23:04Great find of the leg.
01:23:05Both legs were great find, but Horner kicks out.
01:23:10Pound for pound, Horner's one of the strongest guys in WCW.
01:23:15Well, he was trying to get back for a tag, and he needs one now.
01:23:20Double clothesline by the State Patrol.
01:23:23Again, going for the cover.
01:23:25They got two again.
01:23:26Horner's in great condition.
01:23:28Has to be to kick out after those near falls.
01:23:34And a patrol, Jim, making a good comeback.
01:23:39Highway Patrol, the State Patrol, coming back and making, I think,
01:23:43a very good showing here against Horner in Rotunda.
01:23:46As you said, they're strong, powerful individuals, and they know how to take it.
01:23:51And they have some experience.
01:23:52That move right there will show us because Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker
01:23:57anticipated that high-crossed Buddy move down the way.
01:24:00Horner's got him in an inside cradle, often referred to as a small package.
01:24:07The patrol, the type of individuals, they'll take a couple or two or three blows
01:24:12if they can get one in there of their own.
01:24:16Lieutenant James Earl Reich prevented a three count right there.
01:24:20And now the State Patrol tagging in and out very quickly.
01:24:23Yes, sir.
01:24:24They've hit their most compatible pace here.
01:24:28Their most compatible pace here.
01:24:30They're controlling it.
01:24:31Headbutt right to the midsection and one to the side of the head
01:24:35of the youngster from Morristown, Tennessee.
01:24:37And Tim Horner now is in quite a lot of trouble, a high degree of trouble.
01:24:44Well, the patrol feels they're really on a roll now, Jim, and they well may be.
01:24:50Horner twirls the legs, makes a tag to Captain Mike Rotunda.
01:24:55Rotunda now tagging on both members of the State Patrol.
01:24:59Cracks their heads together, and now Horner and Rotunda, let's see their teamwork.
01:25:04Let's see if they're thinking S-1, throwing the State Patrol in.
01:25:08Dropkick from behind.
01:25:10Lieutenant James Earl Reich goes outside.
01:25:12Rotunda's a legal man.
01:25:14There's the airplane spin.
01:25:16Captain Mike Rotunda with Sergeant Buddy Lee Parker on his shoulders.
01:25:25Rotunda and Horner have won it on TBS.
01:25:28Here are your winners, the team of Tim Horner and Captain Mike Rotunda.
01:25:35And fans, we can look at it again as Rotunda gets him up on his shoulders
01:25:41in that airplane spin.
01:25:45What's a tremendous speed with which he goes with the airplane spin.
01:25:49When he throws him to the mat to cover him, it's a count of three.
01:25:52The winners, Tim Horner and Mike Rotunda.
01:25:55Now, here's my partner, Jim Ross.
01:25:58Thanks very much, Bob Collin.
01:25:59Fans, don't forget this Sunday night, Lex Luger buried one to one on the main event.
01:26:03And Freebirds, I got some news for you.
01:26:05The situation with the Southern boys is far from over.
01:26:08That's right, Mr. Ross, it's very far from over.
01:26:10You know something, Freebirds, we can't take nothing away from you.
01:26:12You're former world tag team champions, but the battle's not over.
01:26:15My grandpa taught me three things, Mr. Ross, when I was growing up.
01:26:18He said, first of all, you don't judge a book by its cover.
01:26:21The ball game's not over until the fat lady sings.
01:26:24And someday you get the bear, and someday the bear gets you.
01:26:27So I'm going to tell you this, Freebirds, before this mess is all said and done,
01:26:30the South shall rise again.
01:26:32That's right, Jim Ross.
01:26:33You know, like Tracy just said, over and over again, the South's going to rise again.
01:26:36And, Freebirds, just remember this when you look at the Southern boys.
01:26:39When you hear something scratching at your door and you open it up,
01:26:43you're going to see two hungry young lions, wild-eyed Southern boys.
01:26:46Fans, there you hear it from Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong.
01:26:49And I'll see you again this Sunday night at 6 on 5 on the N.W.A. Main Event.
01:26:53It's Barry Windham and Lex Luger one-on-one.
01:26:56♪♪♪
