00:02:12As a matter of fact, tomorrow on the main event, the Freebirds and a mystery partner will be wrestling the Renegade Warriors and Alan Iron Eagle.

00:02:19And you know, a lot of the teams and a lot of the people are trying to do, are really getting into the mind game action, Jim,

00:10:51against a great trio

00:10:53like the three Indian youngsters.

00:10:55They're going to come loaded for bear.

00:10:57I'm just wondering what star

00:10:59that they will have tomorrow night

00:11:01on the program.

00:11:03Yeah, Jim, I think now

00:11:05we're all going to be wondering that,

00:11:07and of course, you're not going to get it

00:11:09out of the Freebirds.

00:11:13I'm somewhat dubious of that story

00:11:15about Michael Hayes' family tree.

00:11:23and then he nailed him with the left hand.

00:11:25Oh, man, he has some power behind that,

00:11:27and you know, the Freebirds,

00:11:29they're so flashy, Jim,

00:11:31and they talk so much,

00:11:33but they back a lot of it up,

00:11:35and sometimes we overlook the fact

00:11:37that they're such a tremendous

00:11:39tag team wrestling team,

00:11:41and they certainly feel,

00:11:43and I agree, that they have the ability

00:11:45to regain those championships

00:11:47if given the opportunity.

00:11:49Hayes working over Jim Corbin,

00:11:51tags in Jimmy Jam Garvin.

00:11:53This team of the Freebirds,

00:11:55a veteran duo,

00:11:57they make very few mistakes,

00:11:59very little wasted motion in the ring.

00:12:03Well, they're the kind of team, too,

00:12:05that's going to take a win

00:12:07any way they can get it.

00:12:09All they want is that W

00:12:11and there's a little Richard

00:12:13outside of the ring that helps them,

00:12:15or whatever, they want the W.

00:12:17Mark White being brutalized there,

00:12:19and there you see

00:12:21little Richard Marley

00:12:23with a cheap shot

00:12:25and a DDT on Mark White

00:12:27on the outside.

00:12:29Well, a referee would have seen that.

00:12:31There would have been

00:12:33a disqualification right there.

00:12:35Unfortunately, the Freebirds

00:12:37had the official detained

00:12:39on the other side of the ring.

00:12:41Freebirds genuinely enjoy

00:12:43beating up their opponents.

00:12:45Oh, they like to inflict that pain,

00:12:47and I tell you, White and Corbin,

00:12:49I think the thing in this match, Jim,

00:12:51is just going to be extremely difficult

00:12:53for them to overcome

00:12:55the experience of the Freebirds.

00:12:57You know, Hayes has been wrestling

00:12:59since he was 17 years old,

00:13:01and Garvin's been around 13 or 14 years.

00:13:03They got a tremendous amount

00:13:05of wrestling experience in that corner.

00:13:07Still young men in the sport.

00:13:09They are really, I think,

00:13:11fans have asked for it.

00:13:13Mark White goes to the ropes,

00:13:15and that has really upset

00:13:17Michael Hayes as he's nailing

00:13:19White with everything but the kitchen sink.

00:13:21Got him with an elbow there.

00:13:23Well, White hooked that rope,

00:13:25and Jimmy can't blame him.

00:13:27He heard that chant also about the DDT,

00:13:29and Hayes had him almost set up for it,

00:13:31so quickly he just hooked

00:13:33that arm around the rope.

00:13:37knows that their DDT

00:13:39is one of their favorite

00:13:43is their boy, Ric Flair.

00:23:02Terry Taylor is a technically sound, good wrestler.

00:23:06He has the skills that really allows him to use his speed and his quickness.

00:23:09And, of course, Mantell, he's the type of wrestler you can never drop your guard on

00:23:13Dutch Mantell.

00:23:14Boy, he'll stick it to you.

00:23:15He's a great athlete.

00:23:16Yes, sir.

00:23:17As is Terry Taylor.

00:23:18Collar and elbow tie up, and Taylor with a good arm drag takeover, right into that arm

00:23:21bar.

00:23:22And Dutch Mantell rolling away from the pressure, back up to his base, trying to fight away

00:23:26from that pressure.

00:23:27Jim, I was just sitting here thinking, Gordon Sully, and we've got to look at what Stan

00:23:32Hanson has done to Lex Luger.

00:23:34You know, we're going to have some showdowns and some big showdowns one week from tonight,

00:23:38of course, at Halloween Havoc.

00:23:39One of them is going to be that Hanson-Luger situation.

00:23:42Paul Lee is such a jerk to enter.

00:23:44I'll tell you something, he needs to be muzzled.

00:23:49Well, and, of course, the other one that I'm really looking forward to, and that's the

00:23:52Steiners match.

00:23:53Jim, you've got two teams when they collide there.

00:23:56I think you can hear that explosion all over Chicago when they meet.

00:23:59I still think about their belts, as we saw, being smashed on their faces by the Nasty

00:24:04Boys.

00:24:05The Nasty Boys, they're in this program, the number three ranked tag team in the world.

00:24:10They'll take on Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich.

00:24:12We'll talk more about that situation a little bit later in the program.

00:24:16There's a story behind the story, so to speak.

00:24:18That's right.

00:24:19Jim, I think you're going to have some news, and it's not going to be good news for all

00:24:22the fans, of course, about Robert Gibson.

00:24:36Mantell is a double-tough customer from Oiltroft, Texas.

00:24:42A real outdoorsman.

00:24:44Usually seen with some of that smokeless tobacco in his lip.

00:24:49I certainly don't advocate the use of that, but Mantell is an adult, and unfortunately

00:24:54sometimes we adults make decisions that aren't always for our best health.

00:24:59I think you called him dirty, and I guess we might say that might be sort of a dirty

00:25:03habit, Jim.

00:25:04Mantell catching Taylor coming in, caught him right in the face with his foot.

00:25:11Oh, right there.

00:25:12Taylor got the left shoulder up.

00:25:15I tell you, I think back, Bob, at the Louisville Slugger, the Renegade Warriors were ready to

00:25:20go on the warpath right here.

00:25:21They didn't necessarily want to wait until tomorrow's main event.

00:25:24And I don't know who that mystery partner is, Jim, and after hearing from the Freebirds

00:25:28a couple of times about it, I'm even more confused, I think, than I was before.

00:25:32But I tell you one thing, he better be dadgum good, because the Renegade Warriors and Iron

00:25:38Eagle, they're going to be ready.

00:25:40Dutch Mantell was using the rope for leverage in that abdominal stretch.

00:25:43That's a very painful hold.

00:25:45He's got Taylor's hair as well.

00:25:47Mantell will take every shortcut he can.

00:25:50He certainly throws the rule book out the pickup window.

00:25:54And he's always thinking about that.

00:25:56He's always looking for something to get the little edge, something extra that he can do

00:26:01that's going to give him just the teeny-tiniest bit of advantage, and he'll take it.

00:37:47but I think the thing is you say the reason he's taking his lumps,

00:37:50there's no way to get around that fact.

00:37:52The one important factor and the only thing that age can do for you,

00:37:55and that's give you experience.

00:37:56He lacks the experience factor.

00:38:01There, he tripped there a little bit, but he had a good move.

00:38:04Yes, tried to execute a good drop kick, but that one there,

00:38:07he was set a little bit too,

00:38:08he was a little too slow setting up for the drop kick.

00:42:17You can go up against a man the size of the Nasty Boys.

00:42:20I think the strategy for Ricky Morton there and his partner Tommy Rich

00:42:23is to use their quickness advantage

00:42:26and hopefully be able to take the Nasty Boys off their feet.

00:42:29And that's going to negate some of the strategy.

00:42:31And that's what they're doing right now is talking strategy.

00:42:34Yeah, I tell you, when you talk about Ricky Morton and Tommy Rich

00:42:38using their quickness and their agility,

00:42:40I have to think, what will the Steiners do against a team like this?

00:42:43Jim, the Steiners, well, they're great athletes

00:42:45and they're just bullheaded enough.

00:42:47They're going to stand toe-to-toe.

00:42:49This could really be some wild collision when these four get together.

00:43:32But when you look across there, of course,

00:43:34the Rock and Roll Express, Ricky Morton with his partner,

00:43:36they've been tag team champions four times, Jim.

00:43:39Tommy Rich in that corner with us right now has been a world champion.

00:43:42They've got experience over there.

00:43:46Great strategy by the popular young duo that we're seeing

00:43:49for the very first time here on World Championship Wrestling.

00:43:53Both these young men are natives of the Volunteer State of Tennessee.

00:43:57They've been around each other virtually their entire career.

00:44:00Ricky, of course, grew up in Memphis.

00:44:02Tommy Rich grew up in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

00:44:06I've been watching them too, Jim, and there's no indecision on their part.

00:44:09It's not like a new tag team, the way they're working.

00:44:12They're very smooth at the moment, and they're tagging,

00:44:15and they're switching often in the ring.

00:44:16Again, Morton used his quickness to roll out of the way and avoid the elbow.

00:44:20And Tommy Rich tags back in.

00:44:23We may be seeing an upset in the making right here

00:44:25because Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton really came to fight.

00:44:29I tried to talk to Ricky.

00:44:30Another arm drag, taking the bigger man,

00:44:32a 300-pounder right off his feet, right to the canvas.

00:44:35As you mentioned earlier, they want to get him on the mat,

00:44:37keep him on the mat if they can.

00:44:39That way they're not going to be able to use that strength and that power.

00:44:42You've got to be careful of the Nasty Boys, Jim.

00:44:44Their top move is the death drop.

00:44:46Of course, that's a combination of the power slam

00:44:48and a top elbow drop off the rope, and that thing is a vicious blow.

00:44:52Much like the Frankensteiner or the Steiner line.

00:45:17how does a man that size do that?

00:45:19But let me tell you, I know you've done it and I've done it.

00:45:22We've been in and we've seen the college wrestlers.

00:45:24I've seen 118-pound, 120-pound college wrestlers

00:45:27take a big 250-pound football lineman

00:45:30and just throw him around on the mat like he was nothing.

00:45:32Leverage is the name of the game.

00:45:34Leverage and technique.

00:45:38There's some funny stories come out of a wrestling room

00:45:41where the football players want to challenge

00:45:43some of those wrestlers in the smaller weights

00:45:45and those big offensive or defensive linemen

00:45:47to get tied to a knot.

00:45:48And that's what Morton and Rich hope to do here.

00:45:51But again now, Ryan Knobbs of the Nasty Boys

00:45:54has slowed it down.

00:45:57Hammering away with a lot of force,

00:45:59and that's what they like to do, wrestle with force.

00:46:01But Tommy Rich, I think he likes to fight

00:46:04in that right hand, finding his home there.

00:46:07He's very aptly named Wildfire.

00:46:10As you say, he really loves to turn it on, Jim.

00:47:41as Jerry Sags went for a very arrogant pin there,

00:47:45The tide of the battle has certainly changed, Jim,

00:47:48as you mentioned,

00:47:49and it's the fact that the Nasty Boys

00:47:50have been able to withstand it.

00:47:52They've stayed in there,

00:47:53and I think it's just probably the fact

00:47:55that they are stronger, tougher, rougher individuals

00:47:59just because of their size and their power

00:48:01that they're able now to make this comeback.
