01:12among the shadows of Horseshoe Mountain outside of Little Rock lies the small
01:18town of Greenbrier Arkansas where Chris and Roseanne cupids live an idyllic life
01:25with Chris he has been my shoulder to crawl and he has been my laughing buddy
01:33it looks amazing the flowers yeah those two he's there for being with any and
01:39everything that I've ever needed my wife is my best friend I mean she is my
01:44absolute sunshine when I think everything is just absolutely coming to
01:48an end
01:56and in the spring of 2013 Greenbrier is the perfect place to raise their two
02:03children 13 year old Justin and 10 year old Brittany there was plenty of space
02:08for our kids plenty of space for the family to grow it was something we were
02:12looking forward to having for the rest of our lives and the kids could have
02:15someplace to call home historically Greenbrier Arkansas was a thorny
02:23wilderness that people only passed through in the 1830s Native American
02:29nations crossed here during the forced relocation of tribes known as the Trail
02:33of Tears today Greenbrier is a peaceful bedroom community Greenbrier it's very
02:44much everybody knows everybody home feeling in that town and that's one of
02:50the things that really drew me and my family to that place yeah let me get
02:56that for you really thriving this year in our home there is a red plant they
03:02call a rooster comb these unusual flowers are very special to Chris my
03:07grandmother grew them when we was little
03:12she was a very warm and charming you know person and every time we were
03:17around him it was just like an air of air of goodness and it just made us all
03:21happy
03:30honey you alright my grandmother passed in October 2003 I do feel like her
03:37presence is still with me every day never better okay well keep an eye on
03:43the kids I'm gonna go start dinner sure thing when he said that he could feel
03:49her spirit watching over our family that just made me feel like someone is
03:53looking over me to make sure I don't get hurt we felt very blessed to say this is
03:58our home and this is where we will have our roots for the rest of our life and
04:02it was just like our dream come true but the unsuspecting family's dream will
04:08soon become a nightmare and serenity will give way to chaos when their home
04:14and Greenbrier becomes a battleground between good and evil and the Great
04:20Serpent who was called the devil and Satan the deceiver of the whole world he
04:24was thrown down to the earth and his angels were thrown down with him Chris's
04:29grandmother taught him the importance of religion and faith I went with my
04:35grandmother and we attended church very very regularly but after his grandmother
04:39passed Chris went to church less often until recently when the kids got bigger
04:44he wanted to instill core values my grandmother had instilled in me I really
04:48learned a lot by her and that's the way I wanted to live my life as part of their
04:52renewed commitment to God the Cupid family comes together every night to
04:56conduct their daily devotional no longer any place for them in heaven we had a
05:00book it was 365 stories of the Bible and it would work through many of the well
05:06known stories of the Bible we decided that we needed to get more involved at
05:10church and go like on Sunday morning and afternoons and Wednesdays so we can
05:16learn more about God each time we went to church we would get more faithful and
05:22we would have devotionals every night do you know what the story's about the war
05:31in heaven between God and the devil that's right but as the family's
05:36devotion to God grows stronger something starts to affect the family members one
05:42by one
05:45Heavenly Father we worship you we give you praise help us to grow in faith and
05:50guide us in your ways it all begins when Roseanne senses evil I did get a
06:01very uneasy feeling it was very unnerving but to Roseanne the feeling is
06:11not entirely new she remembers the same sense of dread after she toyed with the
06:18supernatural as a child

06:48okay I had just an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach but it was one of
06:54those things that I would just brush it off thinking it was just all in my own
06:58head later that night Roseanne is overcome with the sensation once again I
07:09was standing in a kitchen area and I had noticed it was extremely cold it's like
07:23the coldness goes from one side of my body around to my back my first thought
07:28is it's got to be the air and I start feeling well there's no air blowing from

08:38home in Greenbrier Arkansas he feels the warm and protective spirit of his
08:44beloved grandmother I was very sad that she passed but it's a comforting feeling
08:52knowing that she is around but his wife Roseanne has sensed a different presence
08:59something sinister in nature I just get this feeling that eyes are on me
09:16and it it scared me it was just kind of a spine-tingling feeling
09:29it was there just a quick glimpse but it really disturbed me I was trying to
09:52tell myself no this is not anything just write it off what happened nothing
09:59it didn't sound like nothing I was just jumping at shadows I guess I did believe
10:06that ghost did exist but it was always easy to say ah no there's no way that
10:14could really happen but it turns out Roseanne isn't the only family member

11:07it was just kind of odd because my grandmother used to
11:10hum that song and she did that when I was little cuz she'd bounce bounce this on her knee doing that
11:15my kids have never heard this my daughter's never met you know my grandmother she passed a month
11:20before my daughter was born

11:50And that's something that me or my wife never said.
11:53And for her to just pick up on that and start saying,
11:55it was just kind of really, really mind-boggling.

14:19In 2013, Chris and Roseanne Cupid,
14:22along with their two children,
14:24are deepening their devotion to God.
14:27He was thrown down to the earth,
14:29and his angels were thrown down with him.
14:32They suddenly sense the presence of two entities
14:35in their Greenbrier, Arkansas, home.
14:39The spirit of 10-year-old Brittany's great-grandmother
14:42appears to be watching over her,
14:44singing sweet songs into her ears.
14:47If you don't watch out, you'll fall down.
14:50It just kind of shocked me
14:52because she's not alive and she can't talk to me.
14:56Help us to grow in faith and guide us in your ways.
14:59A dark force menaces the family.
15:05But one thing's for certain.
15:07The night belongs to the evil one.
15:11And tonight, it's after Brittany.

15:56It was like hell.

16:03She was trembling.

16:07I could not get her to calm down.
16:09The devil's trying to get me.

16:16I was so scared that I couldn't even speak.

16:27It was more than just a nightmare.
16:29That nightmare felt like it was real life.
16:32Brittany, I promise I'm not going to let anyone hurt you.

16:39After having some of the experience I had at that point,
16:43I was afraid that it could have been more than just a dream.
16:49For now, Chris and Roseanne manage to soothe their daughter's fears.
16:53But Brittany's terror is just beginning.
17:04Each night, the entity returns.
17:13Brittany's older brother, Justin, grows concerned.
17:18The first time that Brittany had a nightmare,
17:20I didn't pay any attention to it, but it kept happening,
17:23so I started getting a little worried.
17:25It was like once a week and then twice a week,
17:29and then it ended up to be every day.
17:32She never told me anything about her nightmare.
17:35She just told me that they were really bad,
17:38and she didn't want to talk about them.
17:41Our Heavenly Father, please help Brittany to know
17:44that you are watching over her.
17:46I prayed that I would stop having these nightmares
17:49because they scared me to death, and I didn't know what to do.
17:54And that her family will always be there for when she needs us.
17:57We knew something was going on,
17:59but we didn't know how to reach out to her, how to help her.
18:02I mean, she was just so sad and so just, you know, distraught,
18:07I guess is the best word for it,
18:09that she was just not our little girl.
18:13But the dark force is relentless.
18:16It now sets its sights on its next victim.

20:10Just north of Little Rock, in the small town of Greenbrier, Arkansas,
20:15a mysterious and evil entity has been tormenting
20:19Roseanne Cupid and her ten-year-old daughter, Brittany, for months.

20:49It's frightening because, like, you can feel that it's there,
20:53but you can't do anything.
20:56The only thing you can really do is pray that it will go away.

21:14I was just freaking out, like, am I going crazy?
21:17Am I imagining things, or is this real life?
21:25And now it has set its sights on her older brother, Justin.
21:31I saw this hand come straight for me.
21:35Hey, what is it? What's wrong?
21:37I was in the bathroom, and something reached out and grabbed me.
21:40And I told them that my shoulder was on fire,
21:43and they looked at it, and I had three marks on my shoulder.
21:47I started to see things, and my brother saw things,
21:51and now it's hurting us.

22:07After Justin's attack, Chris and Roseanne fear for their family's safety.

22:14With everything that was going on, I thought the home could be haunted.
22:18That was very, very scary.
22:21You want to do everything in your power to protect your children.
22:27We can't do this alone. We need help.
22:30There is something that is not human that is trying to get in the middle of our family.
22:38This is not anything we can fight on our own.
22:45Desperate to rid his home of a terrible evil,
22:48Chris turns to his pastor for guidance and support.
22:52I think he was overwhelmed by it.
22:55He said, I do believe in the afterlife,
22:58but I don't know what I can tell you except for maybe just tell you to pray.
23:04But their faith only appears to make the entity angrier.
23:13It just seemed like everything was hopeless at that point.
23:16Where do we turn from there?
23:20I was fearful for my kids, and I was fearful for my wife,
23:23and me being the man of the house, I wanted to protect them.
23:30The evil entity has the Cupid family right where it wants them, vulnerable and weak.
23:38And even moving away from the house won't help.
23:42Everywhere that I went, I felt like it was following me.
23:47There is no escape.
23:52In October of 2013, the Cupids reach out to Wesley and Melissa Fox of Branson Paranormal.
24:02When the Cupids first contacted me, they were really fearful for everything that was going on in their home.
24:08They were scared for their daughter. They were scared for their son.
24:10But also they were scared for each other as well.

25:03to capture any unknown sounds or voices from beyond the physical world.

25:33And it was actually translated to children's souls.
25:37While Wesley conducts the EVP session, Melissa is drawn to Brittany's room.
25:45I am a psychic empath. I hear things that the average person does not hear.

25:52She immediately senses two distinct presences.
25:57When I first walked in, I could feel different entities.

27:17The evil follows them wherever they go.
27:21We finally realized this entity was not just a haunting at our house.
27:27This entity was attached to the family.

27:33At that point, the only option that we have is to fight back.
27:38The family calls in Wesley and Melissa Fox of Branson Paranormal to come to their aid.
27:45The evil force lures Melissa, an empath, into her worst nightmare.
27:53As we were going through the house, I myself was experiencing my own battle, my own issues, my own problems.

28:10I couldn't breathe. I had to get out of there.
28:13I had never felt that much hatred before in my life, and it scared me.
28:20Rattled, Melissa knows she must remain strong for the family as she and Wesley reveal the results of their investigation.

28:42That was one of the scariest times that I can remember throughout this entire experience.

30:51Although Roseanne's encounter happened many years ago, to Melissa the haunting now makes sense.

31:03Once you do that, you open yourself up, you open your free will to things attaching to you, which can affect you later in life.
31:12It doesn't necessarily affect you at that moment in time, but it can follow you into adulthood.
31:17I felt beyond guilty because this is what has caused my babies so much grief. It absolutely broke my heart.
31:28But the things we've been telling you about, it's only been happening for a few months.

31:38Our theory was this attachment lay dormant for many years, but as soon as they had children and started to go to church on a regular basis, this woke up the demon.

31:59It showed itself because they became more active in church. They started doing nightly devotionals.

32:06And the family as a whole became more spiritual. They became closer to God.
32:12But there's more. When Melissa felt the presence of the demon in Brittany's room, she also sensed its intentions.
32:23I knew that it was there for Brittany, that it wanted her.
32:28Because here this little innocent girl that loved everything, loved life, it wanted her.
32:34It made me very frightened because it's not going to leave without a fight.

32:46The Foxes tell the family that they won't abandon them.
32:50And he will protect you.
32:52They will bring in an ordained clergyman to perform an exorcism as soon as possible.
32:57They really cared about us, and they were doing everything they could to get this out.
33:09We knew we had to be careful because if you didn't do it correctly and then exorcise the demon right, it would come back.

33:29The Cupid family has no choice but to continue to live in fear of the demon until help arrives.
33:37The biggest fear at this point is this thing coming in there and taking one of our lives.
33:42It's January 2014, the Day of Reckoning.
33:48Demonologist Joe Eder arrives at the Cupid home.
33:55Demons are out to destroy you. That's what the ultimate goal is.
33:59They want to eradicate you from the planet. They hate you.
34:02What I do is going into battle, because it is a spiritual battle for the person's soul.
34:08I bring a St. Michael's candle, and that's the light of God.
34:13I bring a Bible, that's the Word of God.
34:15I bring the medals, that's the warrior of God.
34:23You may enter now.
34:30We are horrified what the possibilities could be if we can't manage to defeat this demon.

34:42I was scared so bad, because what if it does take someone in my family? What are we going to do?
34:50If he couldn't get this thing away from us, I was really afraid it was going to escalate.

35:07You could feel the evilness in the house. You could hear groans, you could hear moans, you could hear pops, you could hear snaps.

35:46As a teenager, Roseanne Cupid played with a spirit board.

35:52Unwittingly opening the door for a demon to attach itself to her.
36:03It lay dormant for years, until her family's growing religious faith awakened it with a vengeance.
36:12Now, it wants their souls.

36:33I got really angry. I started taunting it.
36:36You know, telling it, it needed to show itself. It needed to present itself.
36:40It was chicken. And by me doing that, it did. It came on.
36:45It felt like there was a spirit going through my side.
36:48Chris was attacked because he challenged it. You don't challenge a demon.
36:52When you get angry, you have a separation with God. It's going to take that and it's going to run with it.
36:58Don't lose faith. Keep praying.
37:01Joe urges the rest of the family to ignore the demon's ploys and remain strong.
37:07No evil will touch or speak to me, for I am at peace.

37:12Your faith has to be 100%. You have to believe in it, because if you don't, then the demon's going to stay there.
37:16I am now empowered with the power of love and strength of knowing the true sense of who I am.
37:22The way to banish a demon is, you have to get its name.
37:26And once it confesses its name, has no recourse, it has to go back to its original source.
37:32I go into a remote prayer, like a ministry.
37:36And the name just comes to me.
37:40It's their true name that was given by God.

38:30It was just like going from a dark, turning a light switch on. God had taken over.
38:37They had that angelic glow around them again. A protection field, as you would say.
38:43And that's when I knew it was gone.
38:45I knew we could have our life back. We could become the family that we once were.
38:56It is now spring 2014.
39:00It's been several months since the exorcism.
39:03And the Cupids feel like they did when they first moved in.
39:07Secure and living in a house full of love and prayer.
39:13It was very critical. We used our faith as a group to get rid of this.
39:18For me, knowing that we helped with that, with God's help.
39:22It's the greatest feeling you'll ever experience in your life.
39:25I could feel madness in the air when it was there.
39:29And since it's been gone, it has been more peaceful and calm.
39:36We feel the presence of my grandmother back in that house.
39:39She was trying to protect us this whole time she was there.
39:42But for the family members who did battle with the demon,
39:45they will never forget the face of evil.
39:50I was happy that it was gone because I didn't like being worried all the time
39:55that something's watching you or it's going to get you and you're not expecting it.
39:59It made me realize that the people that say that these things happen,
40:04that they're not just like nuts and they're crazy.
40:08Because it happened to me, so I believe them.
40:11We had struggled. We were at a rope's end.
40:14We had that feeling of just peace, calmness that we hadn't had in so long.
40:20And words cannot describe, you know, how thankful we are.
40:24At the beginning, I didn't believe in this.
40:28I thought, like, this was just a fairytale.
40:35But once it started to happen, I started to believe it.
40:39But once it started to happen to me, I started to realize that this is real life.
40:46Since it's gone, I've learned just put it behind me because now it's not there,
40:53so be happy that it's not there.
