00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05A band of rain weakens as it pushes southwards and eastwards through the next 24 hours,
00:11eventually clearing the southeast through the latter part of Wednesday,
00:15with a ridge following, allowing for some brighter skies through tomorrow.
00:19But notice another front will move in through Wednesday night and into Thursday.
00:24The winds will pick up some strength and it will wave a little bit,
00:27so slow moving across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:30before eventually clearing down towards the southeast come Friday.
00:34Before that though, you can see some clearer skies across central and eastern areas through Tuesday evening.
00:40This band of rain gradually moves in, clearing Northern England, Wales and the West Country
00:45through the latter part of the night, and clearer skies across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:50cool across rural Scotland, the western side of Northern Ireland,
00:53and any showers across the far north and northwest will tend to fade away.
00:58So here are your temperatures, still muggy across the Midlands, eastern counties of England,
01:02temperatures holding around 15 to 17 degrees Celsius, so a sticky night to come,
01:07quite damp in places as we start the day on Wednesday.
01:11But it's a bright morning across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
01:14Northern England, West Wales and the West Country seeing some fine weather.
01:18This patchy rain and drizzle tends to fade away through the morning into the afternoon,
01:22a legacy of cloud, and notice this weather front's eroding on its western edge,
01:27so some brightening skies across the Midlands.
01:29At the same time, during tomorrow afternoon, the cloud will thicken across Northern Ireland,
01:35the western side of Scotland eventually, with some more patchy rain moving in later.
01:40Elsewhere, for eastern counties, it's a drier end to the day,
01:44the cloud will break allowing for some late sunshine,
01:46and some late sunshine across the bulk of Scotland, Northern England, Wales and the West Country,
01:50a lovely end to Wednesday.
01:52As temperatures climb to around 20 or 21 in the north,
01:5522 to 24, 25 across more southern and eastern areas,
02:00so a notch down on the last few days.
02:03So that's a picture on Wednesday afternoon into evening.
02:06Through Wednesday evening and overnight, this is the weather front moving in,
02:09bit of a squeeze on the isobars, so the winds will pick up,
02:12eventually it clears down towards the south,
02:15but it may linger on across southern counties through the first part of Friday.
02:19And then we're under the influence of high pressure towards the south,
02:22but low pressure sits across Iceland,
02:24so always the chance of perhaps some showery rain across the far north and northwest through the weekend,
02:29but some drier skies and some brighter weather as well.
02:31Here's that cloud and showery rain through Wednesday evening.
02:35Notice it peps up a little bit across western Scotland,
02:39Northern Ireland seeing some wet weather,
02:41and by the early hours of Thursday morning, the central belt will see some outbreaks of rain.
02:46Patchy bits and pieces just moving in across Cumbria through the first part of Thursday,
02:51and then the rain will become more persistent through the afternoon,
02:54but it will be slow moving,
02:56so the bulk of central and southern parts of England and Wales getting away with a fine day,
03:00with some sunshine, but the rain could linger on first thing on Friday.
03:03Elsewhere, it's a brighter day,
03:05the winds will ease as temperatures rise around 18 to 20, 22 degrees Celsius.
03:11I'll see you later.
