00:00While surveying the site of some ancient ruins, two young archaeologists, Derek and Margo,
00:22and their nomad friend, Monkey, find themselves trapped and sinking in a whirling pool of sand.
00:37And when the dust settles, they stare up in awe at a vast chamber filled with giant relics
00:44and artifacts from another civilization. And there, at the far end of the cavern, a
00:51door with a strange inscription. All who enter these portals pass through time.
01:21Wow! Who were those guys? I don't know, but until we can figure out just where we are,
01:52we'd better stay clear of everybody. What do they look like to you? From their clothing,
01:56they might be from some coastal tribes. Like the Hittites? Or the Hivites, Gergashites,
02:02Amorites, Jebusites, maybe even Canaanites. What about Socialites, Suburbanites, Arasites
02:10or Sunderlites? Those two. Anyway, I'd say we were back at least a thousand years B.C.
02:16They're coming back! Not much cover. We'd better split up.
02:32I was watching from the hill, Captain. There definitely were people moving around down
02:36here. Israelite spies, come out! Israelite spies, come out!
02:46Just a boy. Look for the others. There they are! Hang on to him!
03:17Israelite spies! We've got them trapped against the river! We have no choice. Come on!
03:25Poor Monty! We can help him only by staying free ourselves.
03:47Phew, that was close. But all that counts is that we did get away.
03:59Take the boy to the city! Did you find the other spies? We tracked them as far as the
04:04river. They must have drowned. Sorry about the misunderstanding, but we Israelites have
04:11to be wary of spies too. Who were those other soldiers? Canaanites from Jericho, which means
04:17you will soon be reunited with your friend. Because today we march against Jericho and
04:23shall capture it. That's sure good news. If only Moses were alive to see it. But we have
04:29another great leader, chosen by Moses himself, Joshua. Children of Israel, forty years have
04:37we wandered the wilderness. Those sufferings are now past, for today as the Lord hath promised,
04:45we shall finally cross over the river Jordan and enter the promised land. You priests,
04:51men of Levi, will lead us. You will take up the Ark of the Covenant and pass on ahead
04:56of our people. There it is. The chest containing the Ten Commandments. Isn't this thrilling?
05:04But why are they sending it ahead? And without soldiers? It could be captured. Joshua told
05:09us the Lord commanded them to do so.
05:21Loaded down like that, they can't possibly make it across the river.
05:26The Israelites have been sighted on the far shore. They're marching this way.
05:31Good, they've picked the worst possible time. The floodwaters will seize them, and we can easily finish off any who have the bad luck not to drown.
05:40Look, there they are! Only four men, and not even soldiers? What is that box? What is it they carry?
05:49Move out bravely, then stop when you reach midstream.
05:53Midstream? With a load like that, they'll never make it.
05:57The water level's going down!
06:00The river's dropping! They're not even getting wet!
06:04It's just a free current. You'll see, the waters will rise again any minute and sweep them away. My men stand ready.
06:12Have them cross the minute the riverbed is completely dry.
06:16It's just like the Red Sea parting for Moses.
06:19Captain, the river, it's gone!
06:27Look out!
06:35See? Didn't I tell you they could do it?
06:38Hang on, Mokey. Some big-time help is definitely on the way.
06:42Right. Next stop, Jericho.
06:50Did you hear? The Israelites crossed the river. They're on their way here.
06:55They can cross all the rivers they want. They'll never get past these walls.
07:01Come on, you, back to work!
07:04This is truly a promised land. Look at it. So green and fertile. Our families will grow strong and healthy here.
07:12How much further is Jericho?
07:14Just past those hills, about three miles.
07:17Then your soldiers should get there in no time at all.
07:19And we can grow grain and raise cattle.
07:22Simeon, what about Jericho?
07:25Well, the fact is we've been ordered not to continue.
07:29You're not going to Jericho?
07:31Joshua has just decreed that first the priests need time to perform their rituals.
07:36Rituals?
07:38After which we shall celebrate Passover, so unleavened cakes must be prepared.
07:42We should be ready to march in three or four days.
07:45Three or four days?
07:47Why do they not come?
07:49They crossed the river three days ago.
07:52Well, Captain, one of our spies has just returned from the Israelite camp.
07:57Yes, yes. And from what direction will they attack?
08:00Sire, they are not marching. He says they have stopped for a special ritual they call Passover.
08:06And what sort of ritual is that?
08:08Well, they eat unleavened cakes.
08:12What manner of warriors do they be?
08:15They cause the mighty River Jordan to cease and then they stop to eat cakes?
08:22Excuse me, Simeon, could you tell us if the orders to march have come through yet?
08:27No, they haven't.
08:29Poor Moki.
08:31If we could only at least let him know we'll be coming for him.
08:34Perhaps Jebron here can help.
08:37He was in the city as a spy.
08:39He knows it well.
08:41There is a way you might get a message through.
08:43How?
08:44By a woman called Rahab who lives in a house atop the wall.
08:47She's a friend to Israel.
08:49It was she who dropped a rope from her window so I could escape.
08:55How do we get in touch with her?
08:57She promised to be at her window every evening in case we needed her.
09:01I'll take you there.
09:03That's her house.
09:05I'll leave you now.
09:07Two are less conspicuous than three.
09:11Oh, wear this.
09:13So she'll know you're one of us.
09:15Good luck.
09:28My baseball arm's out of practice.
09:30Here goes again.
09:37Israel!
09:52I understand.
09:54I'll try to find the boy to tell him you are coming and keep his hopes alive.
09:57We'll be in that shepherd's hut.
09:59Contact us with a mirror.
10:01One flash, you could not find him.
10:03Two, you did find him.
10:05Three, he is well.
10:07I wish I knew.
10:13My army stands ready.
10:15We have reached the promised land.
10:17What?
10:20Are you one of our soldiers or are you an enemy of Israel?
10:23Neither, for I am here as captain of the angels of the Lord.
10:27Speak.
10:29I am your servant.
10:31What do you want me to do?
10:33We have received our orders.
10:34This morning we march against Jericho.
10:37Take up the Ark of the Covenant and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it.
10:43Then march around the city with the armed guard going ahead.
10:47And I command all of you, during the entire march, do not give a war cry.
10:53Do not raise your voices.
10:55Do not say a word.
10:57After circling the city once, we shall return to camp.
11:01Did he say we just return to camp?
11:05And that's all?
11:07Keep at it down there.
11:09No sign of the Israelites?
11:11Not yet.
11:13Perhaps the sight of a man like you frightened them away.
11:17Do you have that effect on all the ladies?
11:24Your two friends say be hopeful.
11:26They come soon with the Israelites.
11:29Something must have gone wrong.
11:31There. I saw a flash.
11:33Answer.
11:36Now for her message.
11:41She saw Moki.
11:43And he's well.
11:45That makes us all feel better.
12:01So at last they come.
12:03And my men are ready.
12:11Why are they so quiet?
12:13And what do they carry on those poles?
12:15I don't know.
12:17It's what they carried before them when the river stopped.
12:19Sorcery?
12:21Magic?
12:23Well, whatever it is, it cannot come through solid walls.
12:26They're still only marching.
12:28It seems like just a parade.
12:33If only that roadway were in range of our spears.
12:36Sire, look.
12:38They're going back to their camp.
12:40A retreat?
12:42Before joining action?
12:44Well, perhaps the strength of our walls discouraged them.
12:46They never made a sound.
12:48Not a war cry.
12:50Nothing.
12:52Just blood.
12:54A parade.
12:56That's all it was.
12:58A musical parade.
13:00Tomorrow, Simeon, order your men to do exactly the same.
13:05We are making war, Simeon.
13:07We are sowing uncertainty.
13:09We are warring on their minds.
13:11So, we wage war on their minds.
13:14And meanwhile,
13:16I am rapidly losing my mind.
13:18I am losing my mind.
13:20I am losing my mind.
13:22Meanwhile, I am rapidly losing my own.
13:45What are they doing now?
13:47Marching, marching.
13:49They circled the city once
13:51and again they start back to their camp.
13:53Sire, a suggestion.
13:55Our spies made this map of the Israelite camp.
13:57We can attack them.
13:59But that might be what they're trying to trick us into doing.
14:02Leaving the safety of our walls.
14:04But they may be thinking we wouldn't attack.
14:06Then again,
14:08they may be thinking we'd be thinking
14:10that's what they would be thinking
14:12that we wouldn't think...
14:14What are they up to?
14:16What?
14:21Derek!
14:23Up there!
14:25Is that Moki?
14:36Look!
14:38Look!
14:50They've seen us.
14:52Watch.
14:53They do this in every western.
14:55Sorry you'll have to lose it.
14:57But to be honest, it really wasn't you.
14:59That's sure a rough way to get your mail.
15:02What did he write?
15:05Music is nice.
15:07But when is D-Day?
15:09I'd like to know myself.
15:12Excuse me.
15:14Our friend in Jericho sent us this.
15:16There seems to be a map on the back of it.
15:18What's that?
15:20It's a map of Israel.
15:22It's a map of Israel.
15:24It's a map of Israel.
15:26It's a map of Israel.
15:28It's our camp layout.
15:30They're probably going to attack us.
15:32We better make our move first.
15:34And I'm afraid, sir,
15:36we'll need more than trumpets.
15:38We shall continue as commanded, Simeon.
15:40Learn to trust and use
15:42man's greatest strength.
15:44And it is not sinew of arm.
15:46It is faith in the Lord.
15:48But, sir...
15:50Be patient.
15:52Other battles may call for your valor and steel.
15:54But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
15:55But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:25But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:27But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:29But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:31But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:33But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:35But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:37But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:39But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:41But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:43But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:45But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:47But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:49But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:51But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:53But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:55But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:57But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
16:59But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:01But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:03But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:05But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:07But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:09But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:11But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:13But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:15But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:17But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:19But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:21But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:23But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:25But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:27But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:29But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:31But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:33But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:35But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:37But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:39But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:41But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:43But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:45But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:47But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:49But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:51But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:53But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:55But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:57But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
17:59But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:01But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:03But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:05But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:07But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:09But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:11But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:13But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:15But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:17But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:19But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:21But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:23But Jericho shall be conquered without it.
18:25But perhaps you could conceal yourselves
18:27under the flax on the roof.
18:29You really think the Israelites will do more
18:31tomorrow than just parade?
18:33Somehow I have a feeling they're going to do
18:35a whole lot more.
18:37Children of Israel,
18:39today Jericho shall be ours.
18:42Today we shall encircle the city seven times.
18:46Then upon my command,
18:48shout aloud,
18:50shout with all your being,
18:52shout for the glory of the Lord,
18:55for he hath said,
18:57he will give you the city.
19:05Prisoners!
19:07But no Mokey.
19:09I hope nothing. Oh, wait, there he is.
19:11That's him.
19:13Always last in line when there's work to do.
19:15Let's follow them.
19:17Don't spill so much mortar.
19:20When Mokey comes back down the ladder,
19:22we grab him.
19:23We'll have only one shot at it.
19:25Why can't they at least play a different tune?
19:28How many days have they been doing this now?
19:30Twenty, thirty?
19:32This is the seventh day.
19:34It seems like they've been at it forever.
19:36And every day the same old...
19:38There's something different today.
19:40They're marching around a second time.
19:42They've never done that.
19:44It may mean an attack.
19:46Alert the men and tell the spearmen
19:48to aim at those hornblowers first.
19:53Now!
20:00Hey, come back here!
20:04Escape, Israelite prisoner!
20:15What was the commotion?
20:17A prisoner escaped.
20:19Well, find him! Do something!
20:21Soldiers are everywhere.
20:23Where can we go?
20:25Yes, you can hide in the cave under the city
20:28where our underground river flows.
20:30Just lift the wooden grate at the corner of the street.
20:32There are steps beneath.
20:34Let's go!
20:54They're making me dizzy.
20:56How many times around now?
20:58Almost seven.
21:02Keep after them. I'm going back.
21:04In case they get through,
21:06I'll have the archers on the wall finish them off.
21:24They've stopped.
21:26Get your men ready for an attack.
21:30Let's go!
21:32Dead end.
21:34Please, don't use that word.
21:37What now?
21:39The board.
21:41What board?
21:43The one we just crossed.
21:45Maybe we can hang ten on it.
21:54When I command, cry out!
21:57Cry out for the glory of the Lord!
22:23Charge!
22:53Charge!
23:21Charge!
23:23Charge!
23:51Look at Joshua!
23:54Joshua!
24:01Come on.
24:03I don't think they need us around here anymore.
24:07The Lord spared Rahab and all her family
24:10because she had helped the men Joshua had sent to her.
24:13And the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn
24:16to give their forefathers
24:18and kept every one of the promises he had made
24:20to the people of Israel.
24:23Charge!
24:25Charge!
24:53Charge!
