Has cycling in Sheffield improved over the last 10 years?
Transcript
00:00There's definitely been some improvement over the last 10 years. I'm seeing more cycle lanes, more segregated stuff.
00:07Attitudes are interesting. Some people are definitely better, but there's a lot of people that haven't changed a lot.
00:13And close passes are pretty standard every time I go out.
00:17Is that getting worse?
00:20It's hard to say. I think it's mixed. I've always had close passes every time I've gone out.
00:26It's interesting being a female, I get horns honked all the time at me.
00:31I had a ponytail before, I've got short hair now. I think that actually helps me a little bit.
00:35If they see women on the road, taking up the road, you get abuse.
00:38You get people winding down the windows, shouting, swearing at you.
00:42So I think that's actually probably increased.
00:45But generally, yeah, attitudes I don't think have changed a huge amount.
00:50You know, the improvement in cycle lanes. Council's trying to get far more cycle lanes in place.
00:57And the road closures are also really useful in areas which also help the schools.
01:04So there is a slow improvement, and I think that's really good. It's really positive.
01:09I just think we could go further.
