00:00What does one death in my neighborhood mean in the context of the billion animals that

00:08are being slaughtered every day?

00:11Why don't you have a perspective?

00:15Why is there nothing called a bigger picture available to you?

00:20Even as you are grieving over the one death in let's say your cousin's family, a billion

00:30goats, rabbits, lamb, fish, cows, camels and of course chicken have been slaughtered even

00:43as the teardrop rolls down from your eyes to your chin.

00:53In the time that it takes for the drop to roll down from your eye to your chin, millions

01:03of living beings have been slaughtered and you are grieving over the one personal relationship

01:11you had.

01:13How noble is that?

01:15How are you available to grief?

01:25It is not true till it is true for you.

01:35Your consciousness is too self-centered.

01:39It needs expansion.

01:41It needs sublimation.

01:49Change the daily life.

01:50Give it up.

01:51That's why you have been called here.

01:56Why must you preserve this thing called daily life?

02:01I invite you to begin afresh.

02:12Why is there such a sacredness around your personal life?

02:17What is really sacred about the thing called personal life, personal time, personal relationships?

02:27I'll tell you, given a chance you would want to give all that up.

02:33Given a chance to relive your life, you would never want to live it the same way you have done.

02:43Even the most self-assured person would want to greatly amend his life if allowed a chance

02:51to begin again.

02:56Is that not true?

02:58Publicly you may claim that you would want to again live the same life if you get a chance.

03:07Inside you know that is not the case.

03:13Nobody is contented.

03:22Why attach some great sacredness to the thing that you are anyway and already not satisfied with?

03:36Don't you see a gross contradiction?

03:41We live in perpetual flux of desires.

03:46What does that mean?

03:47We are not contended.

03:50Do you see that?

03:57And on the other hand, we attach great sanctity to our personal life.

04:09On the one hand, you are not at all contended with your state.

04:14On the other hand, you treat it as some divine, absolute, unchangeable and perfect.

04:25Isn't it contradictory?

04:28Isn't it self-destructive?

04:29Please, I'll put it in even simpler words.

04:39On one hand, you are not at all satisfied with your state of affairs.

04:43Are you?

04:44On the other hand, you don't want to touch a lot of things in your life as if they are

04:52absolutely the truth, not touchable, not changeable.

05:00Come on, be prepared to discard all that, all this.

05:13Obviously, a larger perspective, obviously.

05:24But you have to differentiate between your personal capacity for action, your personal

05:32physical limited energy, and the possibility of infinite realization.

05:44One very well knows that hunger is widespread.

05:51That must be known.

05:53One has a capacity for a global consciousness, or is that capacity not available?

06:00But that does not mean that you will simultaneously have the capacity to globally eradicate hunger.

06:12These two must go hand in hand.

06:14On one hand, you must have sympathy, rather close empathy, for all the animals being mistreated,

06:24exploited and slaughtered.

06:26On the other hand, you very well know that you cannot go to Africa or Canada and prevent

06:33all the exploitation that is happening there.

06:37But what is it that you can do?

06:40You can at least protect the animals in your vicinity.

06:47And these two must go hand in hand, a universal consciousness and local action.

06:58You cannot say that because I act locally, so my consciousness is also local.

07:05No, no, because if your consciousness is local, then your entire personhood will become very,

07:15very local.

07:18You will become, in simple words, narrow minded.
