00:00I find those parents very irresponsible who make their presence mandatory in matters where

00:19they actually have no say, no reason to be present.

00:28The man is there, the woman is there, and both are adults and they will decide on their

00:32own matters.

00:34What is anybody else doing in this scheme of things?

00:40Now obviously, if you want advice, you can respectfully seek advice.

00:49That is one thing.

00:50But it is another thing to be obliged to have a mediator or a governor or a decider.

01:08Are you getting it?

01:10And once you accept that kind of mediation or outsourcing, I do not think you have the

01:26right to complain.

01:31There are so many men in the world of so many types, a lot of them would naturally be lustful

01:41given the kind of people we are.

01:44How are you obliged to bear the gaze of the lustful ones?

02:03If you come across a lustful one, what do you do?

02:05You walk away.

02:08Now you stand in front of that person and he is ogling and staring and measuring your

02:13body with his eyesight and you still keep standing there right in front of him.

02:19And then you complain, why are men like this?

02:21Why are men like this?

02:22Men will be men and women will be women.

02:24Why don't you simply walk away?

02:32We can start a program of social reformation, obviously.

02:36We can start a program to civilize the menfolk, obviously.

02:44But when you are encountering a man who is measuring you mostly by the shape and size

02:53and attractiveness of your body, then that's not the point to keep engaging with that man.

03:05Disengage, look elsewhere, start walking.

03:14There is no point in complaining.

03:18There are so many of them, we can choose commodities, aloo, potatoes.

03:28What do you do when you come upon a rotten one?

03:33You just toss it away.

03:35You pick another one, right?

03:37You do not go to the Ministry of Agriculture and start proposing a way to have better potatoes.

03:47All that can happen in due course.

03:52But first of all, you pick up a rotten potato or a fruit or whatever it is.

04:00Then you embrace it for life and you keep cooking.

04:10There is no point.

04:12One thing that all wisdom is founded on is your right to choose.

04:27You have the right to choose.

04:30Why then must you act as if you are under compulsion?

04:48Nobody can force your hand.

04:57Remember your right to choose.

05:01Always take the onus of your life on yourself.

05:08The responsibility is all yours.

05:18I could have gone into and launched myself into a long lecture on what kind of stupidity

05:27this horoscope matching thing is and it is absolutely nonsensical to think of Manglik

05:33and what not.

05:34But I'll not talk of that.

05:35Why must I talk of that?

05:45If there is something you do not condone, if there is something that you do not accept

05:58or like, reject it, simple.

06:03There is no need to even justify it to others.

06:13There is no need to even first of all try to correct that thing.

06:16Let the society believe in horoscopes.

06:19If you know all that is stupidity, just silently walk past that thing.

06:36An educated woman acting helpless and choiceless is not a pretty sight to behold.

06:48You are a human being.

06:49You are a consciousness with choice and you have been empowered internally with education

06:56and externally with laws.

07:03This country works on rule of law and the laws are very very favourable to women.

07:09In fact, men complain that the laws are actually too favourable to women.

07:15So you are educated.

07:16You have the support of laws.

07:18Why are you acting so dull and helpless now?

07:24Rise, exercise your choice and live a free life.

07:42And external freedom, even if it's guaranteed by law, will not be of much use if you are

07:52internally still enslaved, enslaved by custom, tradition, emotions, ignorance.

08:03That's what happens with a lot of educated women as well, highly educated, yet internally

08:10uneducated.

08:11So they do not know their own emotions.

08:15PhDs from the topmost universities of the world, Indian women, and yet internally they

08:27live in an emotional darkness, a darkness they have never bothered to penetrate with

08:34the light of wisdom.

08:38What is the result?

08:40Suboptimal decisions in life, influenced decisions in life, destroyed careers, bad

08:50kind of relationships, irreversible bondages, not entirely irreversible, but difficult to

09:02tackle.

09:05Why?

09:07Because there was education in terms of a degree, there is economic opportunity, there

09:19is legal support, yet internally she was still what women have always been since centuries.

09:29That internal freedom can come only from self-knowledge.

09:35That's adhyatma, that's wisdom, that's Vedanta.

09:43I'm fond of saying spirituality is the best friend of a girl.

09:53That alone can empower her and give her wings.
