The current 30-minute free parking is also recommended to be scrapped, which may also see the parking permit price almost double in price.

00:00Bristol City Council's new Green-led administration has proposed a 22% rise on other parking permits,
00:07including business, customers, medical and trader, which is set to report to the councillors
00:12that represent inflation since the last rises in June 2022, although these will not apply
00:18to essential carer visits. Will locals be impacted?
00:22Bristol City Council are voting and they might be doubling parking permits for residents
00:27in the local area. What is your opinion on this?
00:32I believe like do it a little bit free so that I don't think so like parking, I have
00:39been parking a lot of here and there and it's very expensive in Park Street. It's like insanely
00:46expensive. I think in Clifton also it's been like very expensive. So I feel like either
00:53you reduce the prices or you just keep it free for at least a little bit of time so
00:58that people can use it.
01:01Do you think a lot of people will be affected by the hike in parking permits, perhaps people
01:05who live on areas like this that are permit only?
01:09Yeah, yeah. I mean, you know, it's no secret that the cost of living is pretty intense
01:15at the moment and yeah, who needs another sort of for many people daily essential going
01:20up again? It's not, yeah, yeah, it's not good.
01:24The plans would also scrap the free visitor permits and make drivers pay an hour's parking.
01:29But what do locals think?
01:31What is your experience of parking then perhaps around where you live? Do you struggle to
01:35park? Is it expensive?
01:39Not in my place. I live in Clifton. So I have parking. So like in Park Street, it's very
01:44expensive. Anywhere in between city centre, it's very expensive to park.
01:49Yeah, no, I don't like that. If the prices are going up, it seems, yeah, it doesn't seem
01:55right to get rid of that at the same time.
