00:00Hi, I'm Chris, and I live in Los Angeles with my celebrity mom.
00:03Before I continue, please like and subscribe to MSA.
00:06I never knew my dad, but I totally worshipped my mom.
00:09She was a famous singer, and with her sparkly clothes and gorgeous voice, she was perfect
00:13in my eyes.
00:14Except, mom never seemed to love me the way I loved her.
00:17In fact, growing up, she was always so busy, she barely had time for me.
00:21Mom, could you help me with my hair?
00:22I'm late for school and this knot is just the worst!
00:25Oh sweetie, I'm late for a recording, but I've got an idea.
00:28And with that, mom took a pair of scissors and cut a huge chunk of my hair.
00:31I walked around the school looking like a shaved lizard for days.
00:35When I was 10, I got selected to play the lead in the play.
00:37Mom promised that she would come, but I kept waiting and she never showed up.
00:40When I got home, I saw her having a spa session in the middle of our living room.
00:44Everything is calm.
00:46You're in your happy place.
00:48In the middle of the meadows, beneath the sparkling skies.
00:52Mom?
00:53Shhh!
00:54She's in her happy place.
00:55I don't care!
00:56I need to talk to her!
00:57But mom just lay there, face down, completely zoned out.
01:00I felt so mad, I walked up to the massage lady and smashed the bowl of oil on the floor.
01:04What's the matter with you, Chris?
01:06Can't you see I'm busy?
01:07You missed my play for a stupid spa session?
01:09How could you be so selfish, mom?
01:12You have no idea about the stress I'm under, working on my new album to keep my millions
01:16of fans happy.
01:17And how about keeping me happy?
01:19Ever thought about that?
01:20With that, I just ran up to my room and shut my door.
01:23Mom and I didn't speak to each other for days.
01:25And after that, she left for yet another tour and didn't come back for two whole weeks.
01:29Over time, mom and I just got more distant.
01:31She got busier with work, and I got busier with school and theater.
01:35With time, I got better and started performing in local dramas.
01:37Things were fine.
01:38But then I turned 16 and everything changed.
01:40Mom told me she was leaving on a tour for a year, and I was going to a boarding school.
01:44But I don't want to go!
01:45My whole life is here!
01:46Why are you doing this?
01:47Chris, please don't make this more difficult than it already is.
01:50You're going to a boarding school, and that's final!
01:52I kept arguing with mom the whole night, but she didn't give a hoot.
01:55And two days later, I was on a flight to my new school.
01:58Mom didn't even come to see me off.
02:00But by now, I didn't care.
02:01From the moment I arrived, I hated the place.
02:04The walls were so gray, it made my eyes hurt, and the hallways looked something straight
02:07out of a horror movie.
02:09Just when I thought the place couldn't get creepier, I was on my way to the class when
02:12suddenly a girl my age collapsed at my feet.
02:15Oh my god, my head is so heavy, I feel like I'm going to throw up.
02:19Take me to the nurse, please!
02:21The girl started shivering like crazy, and I panicked and took her to the nurse.
02:24But she was so busy with someone else and just told me to take the girl to one of the
02:27treatment beds.
02:28I'm here a lot, since I suffer from fainting spells.
02:31But you didn't faint, you just dropped at my feet.
02:33Right, I mean, normally I faint a lot.
02:35But today, I just have a broken sneaker, sock, bone.
02:38Okay, fine.
02:39I'm just trying to get out of class.
02:40Please don't tell anyone.
02:41You can stay with me in this class too.
02:43I'll cover for you.
02:44I'm Melody.
02:45Chris.
02:46Melody and I got talking and instantly connected over our hatred for the boarding school.
02:49Coincidentally, she was also my roommate and the biggest troublemaker around.
02:53She was always sneaking out, bunking classes, misbehaving with teachers.
02:56Her dad was one of the trustees, so the teachers didn't really say anything.
03:00This one time, Melody dropped fart bombs in the class and everyone went into a frenzy.
03:04Obviously, she got busted and threw a tantrum.
03:06I was trying to hide my fart smell with that bomb.
03:09I have a very weak stomach and I fart a lot.
03:11You know how kids can get really mean about these things.
03:14You want me to get bullied?
03:16What if I start taking drugs?
03:17What if I die?
03:21And then Melody dropped like a fly to the ground and the teacher ended up apologizing
03:24to her instead.
03:25Being with Melody was fun and slowly, I started liking my life in school.
03:30Until one day, I was on stage reciting a Shakespeare sonnet for a school play when I saw Mom walking
03:34in.
03:35I was so shocked to see her.
03:36I forgot all my lines and ran backstage in panic, but I tripped on the stairs and the
03:39next thing I knew, I was in the hospital with Mom and Melody sitting next to me.
03:43I'm a horrible mother.
03:44I shouldn't have come and upset Chris like that.
03:46It's my fault.
03:47I called you here so we could finally tell Chris the truth, but I guess we messed up
03:51big time, Mom.
03:52What?
03:53Ah!
03:54When did you wake up?
03:55Around the same time you called my mom your mom.
03:57I didn't say mom.
03:59I said bomb.
04:00Cause your mom's the bomb.
04:01Shut up.
04:02I might have hit my head, but I'm not stupid.
04:03Now tell me, why did you call her mom?
04:05It's okay, Mel.
04:06I think it's time.
04:07Chris, sweetie.
04:08Melody is your twin sister.
04:10Mom told me how years ago, she was in a horrible marriage with my biological father and she
04:14had no choice but to run away from home.
04:16But after a week, she found out she was pregnant with twins.
04:19She couldn't afford to raise two kids, so she gave Melody up for adoption.
04:22I ran away to LA and met this music producer who helped me out.
04:25When I got successful, I tried looking for Melody, but I couldn't track her down.
04:29My adoptive dad's witchy girlfriend wanted me out of the house, so he enrolled me in
04:33this boarding school.
04:34But last week, Dad finally told me about my biological mom.
04:36I got in touch with Mom and asked her if she'd want to meet me.
04:39And you chose to meet her here, Mom?
04:41You didn't think what would happen if I found out?
04:44I thought it would be nice to introduce you to your twin sister.
04:46Mom, you paid zero attention to me all my life and then you show up here, unannounced,
04:51and tell me I have a twin sister?
04:53What part of this is nice?
04:54And Melody, you knew I was your sister and didn't say a word to me?
04:57Why?
04:58Mom asked me not to.
04:59And you listened to her?
05:00The woman who abandoned you!
05:02This is crazy.
05:03My head's spinning.
05:04Just leave.
05:05Both of you.
05:06Mom and Melody left and I just sat in my bed, feeling totally betrayed.
05:08Doctors discharged me that evening and soon after, Mom left for home.
05:11Back in school, I just avoided Melody like the plague, even though she tried talking
05:14to me a million times.
05:15Soon, it was time for spring break and I was packing my stuff when Melody walked in.
05:19Are you done?
05:20The driver's here to pick us up.
05:21What do you mean?
05:22I'm going home.
05:23My dad is traveling for business, so Mom invited me to stay at your place.
05:26I know you hate the idea, but I've waited all my life to have a family.
05:29Please, just let me have this one spring break.
05:31I promise I won't butt in your life ever again.
05:33I wanted to say no, but Melody looked like she would break in a million pieces, so I
05:38decided to look the other way.
05:39It would be good for Melody to discover what a terrible mom we had, but I was totally wrong.
05:44Mom was so excited to have Melody around, she took a break from work, made us breakfast,
05:48took us out on shopping sprees, dinners, and she even threw a homecoming party for Melody.
05:53Mom had never paid me so much attention, and it made me so jealous watching her bond with
05:57Melody.
05:58Soon after spring break ended, and it was time to get back to school, but a day before
06:01we had to leave, Mom gave me yet another surprise.
06:04So I've spoken to your dad, Melody, and we have decided that it's best you girls stay
06:08near home.
06:09We're boarding school for you guys.
06:10Isn't that exciting?
06:11Oh, Mom, that's great!
06:13It sucks.
06:14Mom, I begged you not to send me to that dreaded school, and you didn't listen to me.
06:18But now that you have your new daughter, you want her to stay near you?
06:21I want both of my daughters to stay close to me.
06:23I've missed out on so much already, and I just want to make up for the lost time.
06:27Yeah, right?
06:28You'll just end up disappointing Melody like you've always disappointed me.
06:31With that, I just left, and the next day, Mom enrolled us in a school nearby.
06:35I just wanted to stay away from home as much as possible, so I decided to join the drama
06:39club in my new school.
06:40On my first day, we were asked to perform a dialogue from Romeo and Juliet, and I got
06:44paired up with this dreamboat of a boy, Matt.
06:46He was so cute, I could hardly focus.
06:48Oh, my Juliet, why won't you come down?
06:52I want to see your pretty face and your beautiful, sparkling eyes.
06:56Uh-huh.
06:57Go on.
06:58It's your line.
06:59Sure.
07:00Oh, Matt, I mean Romeo, you are the light of my life.
07:04Your face is so perfect, like a sculpted statue.
07:07And those arms, so strong.
07:10Do you work out a lot?
07:11I do, but I don't think that's what we were talking about.
07:14Then what are you talking about?
07:15The play.
07:16Are you okay?
07:17You're not blinking.
07:18I'm fine.
07:19I'm just getting into character.
07:20You know, Juliet and all.
07:22I'm weird.
07:23Sorry.
07:24Bye-bye.
07:25Nice to meet you.
07:26I ran in the other direction, feeling totally embarrassed.
07:27A minute later, Matt came behind me.
07:28The two of us started talking, and by the end of the day, Matt asked me out on a date.
07:32I had the best time with Matt that evening.
07:34He was fun, cute, and a really good listener.
07:37Pretty soon, I found myself pouring my heart out to him, telling him everything about my
07:40family and Melody.
07:42It sounds tough.
07:43I grew up without a family, too.
07:45I mean, I had my dad, but he was hardly around, so I get where you're coming from.
07:49Thanks for listening.
07:50I've ruined the date, haven't I?
07:52Maybe there's still time to turn things around.
07:54And with that, Matt leaned in and kissed me, and I kissed him back.
07:57We went on a few more dates, and I was over the moon when Matt asked me out officially.
08:01Every night, he'd come over, and I'd sneak out with him.
08:04We'd go for drives, parties, walks, and it helped me keep my mind off things at home.
08:08One evening, Matt invited me to this party at his cousin's place.
08:11It was a little out of town, so he told me we'd be staying the night.
08:14I was just climbing out my window when Melody walked in.
08:16Where are you going?
08:17To hang out with your hippie boyfriend?
08:18I know you've been sneaking out to spend time with Matt, but Chris, I just don't think he's
08:22right for you.
08:23I heard he's always skipping school and his grades are trash, and just last week, he almost
08:27got arrested for stealing cars.
08:28Those are baseless rumors, and you're one to talk.
08:31Have you completely forgotten what a mess you were in school?
08:33Besides, you should be happy I'm out of your hair so you can spend more time with Mom.
08:37I'm just trying to reconnect with my family.
08:39And look how great that's going.
08:41Now I'm getting late, so go back to your room and stay out of my life.
08:44And I just picked up my bag and left.
08:46I took a cab and went straight to the location Matt had sent, but when I reached the place,
08:50it was totally dark and there was no one around.
08:52I walked up to the cabin and knocked, but no one answered, and seconds later, someone
08:56tapped on my shoulder.
08:57I turned around and saw two big men staring at me, and Matt was right behind them.
09:01What's happening?
09:02And who are you?
09:03Don't worry, sugar.
09:04We'll only keep you here till your mom comes and rescues you.
09:07Rescue me from what?
09:08Matt, what is this?
09:09I'm so sorry, Chris.
09:11I owe these people a lot of money, and since my dad won't give me any, I had no choice
09:16but to kidnap you.
09:17Just do what they're saying and we'll all be safe.
09:19I promise you.
09:20Are you out of your mind?
09:21I trusted you!
09:22You're my boyfriend!
09:23Oh my god, this is such a mess!
09:25Help!
09:26Don't bother.
09:27There's no one around.
09:28Please, Chris, just sit tight and hear me out.
09:31Get away from me!
09:32I pushed Matt away and ran for my life, but one of the two big hounds caught up to me
09:35and took me back to the cabin.
09:37Just as he was trying to tie my hands, I bit his ear and pushed him away.
09:40The other guy launched himself at me, but before I could react, a vase came flying out
09:44of nowhere and hit him in his head.
09:45He fell backwards, and I saw Melody jump in with a baseball bat.
09:48Matt saw everything and rushed out the cabin, but he was stopped by Mom and a bunch of policemen.
09:53As they handcuffed and dragged Matt and the two guys away, Mom came running and hugged
09:56me tight.
09:57I'm so glad you're okay!
09:59Thank god!
10:00I saw you getting into that cabin noted down its number.
10:02He's the one who told me about this place.
10:04Don't you dare do something like this again, Chris!
10:06I'm so sorry, Mel.
10:07I was so mad watching you and Mom together.
10:09It just made me jealous and crazy, and I just couldn't think straight.
10:12I thought you guys didn't care about me since you had each other.
10:15It's my fault.
10:16As a single mom, I needed to work hard and I got my career break, but I guess I just
10:19kinda got carried away with it.
10:21I wasn't there when you needed me, Chris, and I will never forgive myself for that,
10:25but I'm here now.
10:26Not just for Melody, but for both of you.
10:28So please, give me another chance.
10:30I'm sorry, too.
10:31I should've been there for you as a friend before anything else, but I was so happy to
10:34have found Mom!
10:35I ignored how you must've felt.
10:37Hey, hey.
10:38At least we're all here and together, and that's all that matters.
10:42How about we start with a clean slate?
10:44You spoke my mind.
