00:00That's a great line to throw in there because one of those one of those other things to
00:19look at is Clint Kubiak and what he's brought to this offense and how much did it change
00:25with you know the personnel that they do have how much did the what they want to accomplish
00:29change offensively?
00:32Yeah pretty impressive in terms of what they were able to do over on the offensive side
00:36so so again leaving alone the opponent of the Carolina Panthers kind of just looking
00:40at their their play calling tendencies they went from number 27 in the NFL last year in
00:47tight end target distribution to the top of the NFL in week one here in 2024.
00:52They went from using just over 33% of their snaps including motion or including motion
00:58in just over 33% of their snaps my apologies in last year's season to over 60% in that
01:05opening game.
01:06So they took a big step forward in terms of the use of motion and then Derek Carr's play
01:09action drop back percentage went from just over 14% to 40 for 0% here.
01:15So to kind of bundle it all together because I know numbers aren't always great for you
01:19know great in these audio formats and things like that but like that's a big jump and three
01:24of their kind of biggest depletion like depleted areas from last season in terms of getting
01:32their offense in rhythm and finding ways to be able to kind of challenge a defense in
01:36new ways.
01:37So play could be export a lot of those easy buttons motion play action RPO screens things
01:42like that back to this new Orleans Saints offense.
01:46How vital is it not only that the changes got made but at least in week one they were
01:50really effective.
01:51I believe there's an article I was reading from you that said Carr was seven to nine
01:56out of these play action attempts for a touchdown had a 130 passer rating.
02:01So how encouraging is that that not only did they up it they were effective at it.
02:07Yeah I think that's the big thing to what you're trying to look for in this offense
02:11particularly on the offensive side here is that in terms of improvement you're looking
02:15for you know the play call of improvements which we just notated you're looking for the
02:19execution improvements which I think that's a really good example of that Derek Carr.
02:24Not only that but also being perfect perfect down the middle in this game which was an
02:29area of the field that they didn't attack very much in the passing game last year.
02:32We also saw him throw only one incomplete pass and pick up a bulk of his yards as well
02:36as two touchdowns by targeting the intermediate area of the field another spot where they
02:40didn't successfully target last year.
02:43So we saw some shifts in his game that kind of replicate what we saw from his most successful
02:48side towards the end of the season where he had a really really good close to the year
02:53and so we saw some of those same elements kind of be pervasive through that six game
02:58stretch and now this opening game.
03:00And the last thing that you're always looking for in this is the individual effort and how
03:04that leads to impact and I think we saw that from the offensive line we saw that from Alvin
03:08Camara we saw that from Jason Hill and so there's a lot of those little elements of
03:11kind of checking all three boxes over the course of that opening Carolina Panthers game.
