00:19It was not in vain that the Philippine Muay Thai team's two-week training in their Thailand training camp

00:25before the just-finished International Federation of Muay Thai Associations Youth World Championships

00:31on September 12-17 in Bangkok, Thailand.

00:35Despite the almost 2,000 participants in the competition,

00:39the National Juniors team won seven medals in the Waikru Forms and Maimuay Forms category,

00:45while the team won four bronze medals in the combat event.

00:49Philippine Muay Thai team coach Precious Delarmino said in PTV Sports

00:53that the participation in this kind of competition is part of their program

00:58that their young athletes are expected to participate in

01:00so that they will not change their approach to senior-level tournaments.

01:05Unlike before, when we didn't have a youth team,

01:10we went straight to the World Championships for the first time.

01:14Oh my gosh, this is how the competition is.

01:16We really prepared our youth for the senior level.

01:24For the first time ever,

01:26the Muay Thai team participated as a demonstration sport in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

01:31And even if the so-called quadrennial meet is regularly held every other day,

01:36Delarmino said that not many countries will be able to win medals here.

01:42Because to be honest,

01:44almost everyone who plays in the Olympics is here in the World Championships.

01:50So if we win a medal here,

01:53for sure we will win a medal in the Olympics.
