00:00In Venezuela, the President of the National Assembly presented new evidence which ratifies
00:15that there was no coercion or pressure against the ex-presidential candidate of the ultra-right
00:20Edmundo González during their meeting at the Spanish Embassy in Caracas.
00:28President Gustavo Petro said that dynasties are the main cause of the increase in drug
00:32traffickers and violence in the country.
00:38And Israel launched an air strike on several locations in southern Lebanon amid growing
00:42concerns about the escalation of violence in the region.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra GarcĂa from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:56We begin with the news.
00:58In Venezuela, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge RodrĂguez, presented Thursday
01:02new evidence that ratifies that there was no coercion or pressure against the ex-presidential
01:08candidate of the ultra-right Edmundo González during their meetings at the Spanish Embassy
01:13in Caracas.
01:14The head of the Venezuelan Parliament presented part of an audio showing the interlocutor's
01:19intervention indicating that former candidate González Urrutia was clear he couldn't proclaim
01:24a parallel government from exile.
01:26Jorge RodrĂguez also emphasized that during the negotiations there was no coercion of
01:31any kind, but rather a diplomatic atmosphere of peace where both parties respected the
01:37agreements.
01:38The event occurred after former candidate González Urrutia published a video on his
01:42social networks claiming to have been blackmailed into signing the agreements.
01:51There were several personal conversations, two personal conversations, but with the interlocutor
01:56he designated.
01:57We had several meetings to above all set a position about what were the intentions and
02:02the goals of what Mr. González Urrutia was going to do and say.
02:06When we arrived, we were kindly received by the ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain because
02:11that is another thing that has been said, that we broke in.
02:14We are decent people, educated.
02:16We're not skipping embassies as Capriles Hradonski did with the Cuban Embassy in 2002.
02:21We rang the bell and the security personnel of the ambassador's residence kindly opened
02:26the door for us.
02:27The ambassador was outside.
02:29He greeted us kindly and at the door eagerly waiting for us was Mr. Edmundo González Urrutia.
02:35Also the president of the National Assembly explained that González Urrutia recognizes
02:39the president of Venezuela as Nicolás Maduro.
02:45We're going to demonstrate that word by word it corresponds to the letter, to the idea
02:50and the concepts of Mr. González Urrutia, headed, check, Jorge RodrĂguez, president
02:55of the National Assembly, headed by the letter he addressed to me.
03:00But there is another thing that is perhaps even more important which refers to Delsi
03:04RodrĂguez GĂłmez as the vice president of Venezuela.
03:08And who is the vice president Delsi RodrĂguez?
03:11She is the executive vice president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
03:16Named by whom?
03:18Is it like Spain that a queen or vice president is named by blood rights?
03:22Or like the Netherlands?
03:24Or like any of the six monarchies that exist in the European Union?
03:27No.
03:28The executive vice president is named by the constitutional president of the Bolivarian
03:32Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
03:36When there is a confession, no evidence is necessary.
03:38He is recognizing that the president of Venezuela is named Nicolás Maduro Moros who named his
03:44vice president and who was the one that went there.
03:47In the same context, Jorge RodrĂguez explained what are the plans of the extreme right wing
03:52now with Edmundo González Urrutia.
03:57You are in Madrid, safe or not, in the hands of those who really take action.
04:01Do you know why?
04:02Do you know why Leopoldo LĂłpez, Antonio Ledezma and Julio Borges are so interested in taking
04:07ownership?
04:09Because Leopoldo López's new business is called Edmundo González Urrutia.
04:13Because just as there is a murderous, gringos, criminal, fascist, deceiving people collecting
04:18money to steal it, Leopoldo López's new business is called Edmundo González Urrutia.
04:24And now you will see what coercion is.
04:26Now you are going to see what pressure is.
04:28Now you are going to see what blackmail is, Mr. González Urrutia.
04:32Because the standard of living of these characters is very high.
04:35And it is true that Ledezma has a corrupt son-in-law.
04:38It is true that Ledezma, in his public exercise, was a great thief.
04:42But he is running out of money.
04:44And a new source of income has just arrived, which is called Edmundo González Urrutia.
04:49We also have a record, we have it, where Julio Borges, Ledezma, Leopoldo LĂłpez are starting
04:55to look for money.
04:56For what?
04:57For the proclamation on January the 10th of Edmundo González Urrutia.
05:01It is the new business.
05:03In Nicaragua, the National Assembly condemned the European Parliament's continuous interference
05:07in Venezuela's internal affairs.
05:10Through a communiqué, the Parliament stated, we denounce, reject and condemn the spurious
05:15resolution of this colonialist invasion body on matters that only concern the Venezuelan
05:20people, its institutions and in which entities, such as this Parliament, whose interfering
05:25blade we have also known and repudiated in our Nicaragua, have nothing to do with.
05:30Continued, the text affirmed, the dignified, free and sovereign peoples of the world are
05:36in struggle against all forms of virtual, intellectual, political, economic and real
05:40terrorism, which exposes all to the systematic destruction of our knowledge, ways and cultures,
05:47to the destruction of our lives, which do not belong to them.
05:50The Assembly also pointed out, to the daily denunciations against this infamous organization,
05:56we add today this new attempt and purpose to protect what does not concern them and
06:02to legislate on jurisprudence, constitutionalism, constitutions that other peoples and states
06:07have written, defended and safeguarded in their own rights.
06:12Concluded the document by stating, the colonialists of the earth have no right whatsoever over
06:19our processes, institutions, paths and journeys of light, life and truth.
06:30The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the Productive Economic Council, referred
06:34to the statements made by the former right-wing candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, in which
06:39he claims to have been coerced by the government of Venezuela to leave the country, pointing
06:45out that the government has faced real coercion from other governments in the world, such
06:50as the United States.
06:51González Urrutia, no one can claim his own cowardice and his own betrayal of his followers.
07:00If we compare here, please allow me, if we question who is most coerced or persecuted,
07:07González Urrutia, in front of a lady brilliant as Delsi RodrĂguez or Nicolás Maduro, who
07:18has been attacked by missiles, drones, by thousands of sanctions, he is threatened every
07:23day.
07:24It is a question of moral values, who is more harassed, who is more persecuted, who has
07:28been more threatened.
07:29Let's take a short break, but remember you can join us on Tiktok at TELUS URI ENGLISH,

07:45We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:59Welcome back.
08:03Colombian President Gustavo Pedro said Thursday that dynasties are the main cause of the increase
08:08in drug traffickers and violence in the country.
08:11The statement was made as Colombians march from different cities of the country to the
08:15BolĂvar Square with the purpose of getting the Constitutional Court approve a pension
08:19reform.
08:20The Colombian president rejected the position of some senators who tried to cancel the discussion
08:25of the reform bill in order to prevent its approval.
08:29Pedro recalled that in Colombia it has been the aristocracy who has ruled for years, generating
08:35a deep social inequality which has increased the number of drug traffickers and criminals
08:40living in a wave of violence in the country.
08:50A democracy of surnames is not a democracy.
08:53Our history has not been democratic for that reason, because it has not been the people
08:58who have wielded the power, but those hereditary families who believe they have the divine
09:02right not only to rule for generations, but to own the national wealth, the public wealth
09:07of Colombia, and in that way to turn our country into a den of drug traffickers, into a country
09:13with a deep social inequality, into a country as violent as the one we have today, and from
09:18which we must get out, as the government of change is demonstrating.
09:31Argentinian security forces repressed demonstrations of retirees protesting against Malay's policies
09:36towards pensioners in the vicinity of the National Congress.
09:40In a new day of protest, the Argentinian police forces sprayed gas at groups of retired demonstrators
09:47who were protesting against the presidential veto of Javier Milley.
09:50The National Deputy of the Workers' Left Front Unity, Vanina Biasi, denounced the authorities'
09:56aggression during the protest.
09:57She also rejected the policies of the Argentinian police force, led by the Minister of Security,
10:02Patricia Bullrich.
10:17The United Nations Security Council announced that it will review the situation in the West
10:28Bank shortly after the General Assembly's historic approval of a resolution demanding
10:32an end to the illegal Israeli presence in Palestine.
10:36According to local media, the United Nations body will hear the latest report from the
10:41Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wenensland, after Tel Aviv intensified
10:46its offensive in the West Bank in recent weeks.
10:49It will also review violations by Israeli settlers of Resolution 2334 adopted by the
10:55United Nations in 2016 to demand the cessation of all settlements activities in Palestine.
11:01It is important to note that this is a historic step within the United Nations in response
11:06to an adversary opinion from the International Court of Justice.
11:16In Palestine, humanitarian and social organizations called for a ceasefire and arms embargo against
11:22Israel and an end to Israel's ongoing measures against the entry of humanitarian aid into
11:28the Gaza Strip.
11:29Non-governmental organizations warned that the Israeli siege escalated in the coastal
11:34enclave, exposing the civilian population to starvation and diseases.
11:38While Tel Aviv's army systematically bombs and blocks the entry of food, medicines and
11:43other supplies, the need for the entry of humanitarian aid trucks is becoming more acute.
11:49At least 50,000 children between 6 and 59 months require urgent treatment for malnutrition.
12:03Israeli forces continue their genocidal offensive against Palestinian territories as death toll
12:07nears 42,000 people killed since October 7, 2023.
12:12This way, the Zionist army dropped a bomb on a house in Jabalia al-Balad, northern of
12:17the Strip, leaving dozens injured and claiming four lives, including those of women and children.
12:23In addition, shellings were launched north of the Nusayrat camp in central Gaza, with
12:27genocidal troops also carrying out raids on the tents of displaced people in al-Mawassi
12:32and western Rafah as military vehicles opened heavy gunfire east of Kanchanis.
12:38Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the occupation forces assault the town of Qabatiyah, killing
12:43at least three people and injuring four.
12:45In this context, Palestinians share their experiences.
12:57Israel launched Thursday an airstrike on several locations in southern Lebanon amid growing
13:02concerns about an escalation of violence in the region.
13:05Israeli media claim that at least 60 attacks were launched from northern Israel during
13:10the last few hours.
13:12The Lebanese national news agency reported that warplanes carried out a series of attacks
13:17in the area of Mahmoud Dijeh, near the village of Aish Jeh and Qarsat al-Arush.
13:24This new Israeli aggression follows two days of wireless explosions that resulted in the
13:29death of 37 people and thousands of injuries.

15:27of the Andean and Amazon areas affected by more than 200 heat spots, favored by the absence
15:33of rains and a constant drought.
15:35Boluarte declared that 80% fires have already been controlled and extinguished.
15:41The authorities attribute the origin of the fires to the residents of the area and urge

16:33In Venezuela, the second edition of the International Telecommunications Fair was inaugurated with
16:38the participation of more than 200 national and international exhibitors.
16:43More details with our correspondent Gladys Casar.
16:47Yes, thanks for the time and the contact hearing from the South and Telesur English and of
16:52course the opportunity to tell to our audience what is going on here in FITEL VEN 2024, which
16:57is the second edition of this fair and this is one of the expositions of technology and
17:03telecommunications here in Caracas and this is the technological event in Venezuela.
17:09Big brands and small entrepreneurs are coming in here to showcase their services, to offer
17:15their technical services and technical platforms also to the public in general.
17:20Yesterday was the first occasion with closed doors, only for the installations of the stands,
17:26but today here they opened the doors for the public in general and they have master classes,
17:32that is to say they have these talks, these dialogues with the public regarding artificial
17:38intelligence, also the services of optic fibre and internet connectivity and in this case
17:45they were talking about how the artificial intelligence is one way to enhance marketing
17:51and marketing options in social media.
17:54They were also saying that internet is one option but artificial intelligence is the
17:59future of marketing as that way and that tool can, you know, identify the needs of the several
18:06publics and sectors of the publics and the target audience and transform the advertisement
18:12and transform the services in order to satisfy those needs.
18:18Also today there was a demonstration of skills in technical sector, that's to say the technicians
18:24of different brands, they had a competition and they showcased their abilities and their
18:30skills in repairing the internet and in restoring services.
18:35Also there are many, many stands and today they had brought up their services as I was
18:41saying and also we were talking to one of the main organizers of the event, Carlos Silva,
18:47and he told us that after the first experience, the first edition of 2023 of FITELBEN, they
18:54had many experiences and that the fair grew up because last year there were 103 exponents
19:02on brands and today they have 118 enterprises and they have more exponents, so they have
19:10200 enterprises here and big brands that came to showcase in Venezuela what they can
19:16do in terms of technology.
19:18Also they made more friendly towards families and kids the fair because they made more open
19:25spaces for people circulating here and they opened doors for everyone to come in and see
19:31what is going on in technology.
19:34And as we were reporting before, the 5G connection and more speed in connectivity in terms of
19:40internet is one of the main goals of this fair and to find trade and cooperation ways
19:45between the public sector and the private entrepreneurs and the private enterprises.
19:52Also that's one of the main ways they have to continue in the economy, to continue in
19:57the development of options in technology and to grow up.
20:01Also they had a gaming platform, a gaming sector which is so attractive for the youngsters
20:08that came in here, not only to see the future of technology in trade and commerce terms,
20:14but also to see what they are interested to, which is gaming and which is virtual reality
20:21and artificial intelligence.
20:24So those are the main attractives.
20:26This is the first official day and the fair will be rolling out until Saturday, September
20:3321st and it is expected a big activity, a big activity as I was saying, for the conclusion
20:40of this fair.
