00:00Good evening. Welcome to Washington. I'm Bret Baier breaking tonight's startling new numbers showing a dramatic increase
00:06In the number of individuals who may be on the terror watch list caught trying to enter this country illegally since
00:132021 and the latest figures don't even account for the known gotaways those folks who slipped into the country undetected
00:21this comes amid a very serious accusation up on Capitol Hill from a high-ranking border official of
00:27Interference by the Biden-Harris administration
00:30The former chief of the San Diego Border Patrol says he was muzzled from discussing concerns about terrorism
00:38Correspondent Griff Jenkins starts us off tonight with this. Good evening, Griff. Good evening, Bret
00:42This is the stuff that keeps the chief of the Border Patrol up at night the growing threat of a terrorist slipping across our border
00:49382 individuals whose names appear on the terror watch list were stopped trying to cross the US-Mexico border illegally between
00:59ports of entry
01:00from fiscal year 2021
01:02to date
01:04This is compared to the 11 individuals
01:07apprehended between 2017 and 2020
01:11CBP stats show a more than
01:133,000% increase Brett in the number of individuals caught between the ports of entry matching the terror watch list under the Biden-Harris administration
01:22Now the retired Border Patrol chief of the San Diego sector is accusing the administration of muzzling him
01:29In San Diego, we had an exponential increase in significant interest aliens
01:33These are aliens with significant ties to terrorism at the time
01:37I was told I could not release any information on this increase in SIA's or mention any of the arrests
01:43The administration was trying to convince the public there was no threat at the border
01:47In San Diego's sector continues to be the busiest in the nation a local providing this video to Fox
01:54Showing migrants this week crossing undeterred in the dead of night this all after CBP twice denied Fox's FOIA
02:02requests seeking only the
02:04nationalities of the terror watch list suspects with CBP citing privacy and law enforcement
02:10Sensitivity concerns and these Brett are just the ones we know about
02:16How many more suspected terrorists or actual terrorists are part of the nearly 2 million known gotaways?
02:23Well most likely living in your community. No one knows. I pray we don't find out the hard way
02:31And that's the unknown thing Brett is those unknown gotaways
02:35Meanwhile, I got off the phone just moments ago with CBP that did not come in directly on chief
02:41Hikey's testimony before Congress
02:43But maintain that they do have a high level of transparency when it comes to the terror statistics
02:49encounters on their website in that they make their border patrol chiefs regularly available in interviews and
02:55Convey their message through social media. I mean, we've seen some former border chiefs come out and say
03:01Something similar but this is someone who hasn't talked out before it takes a lot of guts to say that on Capitol Hill
03:06It does and you know
03:08Bill Malucia and I regularly talk about our coverage because we're talking to the same people and this
03:14Accusation that Hikey made is one that we've heard many times behind closed doors
03:18And they actually in the case of chief Hikey, he accuses what's known as the office of professional
03:25Responsibility that investigates people within CBP and DHS for their conduct
03:29He's accusing them of basically being weaponized to try and control a message
03:35I think you're gonna hear a lot more about this to muzzle them Grif. Thanks. Thanks, right
03:40Former president Donald Trump taking part in an event tonight aimed at fighting anti-semitism in America later
03:46He will address the Israeli American Council National Summit here in Washington
03:51The aim is to try to court Jewish voters disillusioned with the Democratic Party and the Biden administration's actions since the October 7th
03:59Hamas massacre
04:00Congressional correspondent Ayesha Hosni is here in Washington tonight with the latest. Good evening, Ayesha
04:05Right. Good evening to you
04:06The former president is taking a few days off the battleground blitz to come here to Washington and tell Jewish voters
04:12He will stand up for them while also getting tough on Iran
04:18Tonight the Trump campaign alleging election interference
04:22after the FBI says Iran stole sensitive information from them this summer and
04:27Offered it to the Biden campaign the big question today is what did Kamala Harris know?
04:32And when did she know it about this Iranian election interference the White House staying tight-lipped?
04:38We saw the statement yesterday. That's when we were we learned about it
04:42The president obviously is aware of it now, but I would have to refer you to the FBI
04:47The former president promising a heavier hand with the rogue nation as he courts Jewish voters tonight in
04:54Washington at the Israeli American Council National Summit hoping to pick up Democrats disillusioned by rising
05:01Antisemitism and a disjointed Democratic message about the Israel Hamas war
05:05But not all Jewish voters are convinced that Trump is the right choice
05:09Trump drew criticism last month for calling Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro a quote highly overrated Jewish governor
05:17However, new Fox polling shows that Trump is up by seven points when it comes to the Israel Hamas war
05:24and
05:26Brett before he gets on that stage and addresses this summit. He will have and host a smaller roundtable an
05:34Antisemitism event also co-hosted with dr. Miriam Adelson
05:37She is the widow of the late casino mogul Sheldon Adelson and also a GOP
05:43Mega donor who has reportedly pledged to put up about a hundred million dollars to help elect Trump, right?
05:51I should thank you
05:53breaking tonight
05:54The Republican running for governor of North Carolina is facing intense pressure to drop out of the race
06:01Most of that pressure is coming from his fellow Republicans after a salacious story dropped today
06:07Correspondent Jonathan Sari has details from our Southeast Bureau. Good evening, Jonathan. Good evening, Brett
06:12And this is the last day that candidates in North Carolina can drop out of the race
06:16But Mark Robinson says he is staying in the race for a North Carolina governor despite a potentially damaging report
06:24according to CNN Robinson the Republican nominee for governor quote made a series of
06:29inflammatory comments on a pornography websites message board more than a decade ago in which he referred to himself as a black
06:36Nazi and expressed support for reinstating slavery
06:40CNN reports that its review of archived messages also revealed that despite his publicly conservative stance on
06:46Transgender rights in his earlier online comments Robinson said he enjoyed watching
06:52Transgender pornography and that he also referred to himself as a perv
06:56Robinson denies making the comments and issued this response on social media
07:01Those are not the words of Mark Robinson, you know my words
07:06You know my character and you know that I have been completely transparent in this race Clarence Thomas famously once said he was the victim
07:13Of a high-tech legend. Well, it looks like Mark Robinson is to buy a man who refuses to stand on stage and debate
07:21North Carolina political observers are speculating on what impact the allegations will have on the election in a swing state with 16
07:29Electoral votes
07:31if the toxicity of
07:34Robinson's campaign and this news
07:37Filters up and down the ballot you could see some real
07:42Consequences with a competitiveness that could tip everything towards the Democrats here come November 5th
07:50Robinson is running against North Carolina's Democratic Attorney General
07:53Josh Stein who's leading in the polls his campaign released a statement saying North Carolinians already know Mark Robinson is
08:00completely unfit to be governor and with only 47 days before the election and
08:07Absentee ballots shipping out as early as tomorrow
08:10Many North Carolina elected Republicans are willing to let the dust settle and give Robinson some time to explain to voters
08:17Why they should not believe the allegations Brett
08:21Follow this and talk about it with the pollsters a little bit later Jonathan. Thank you
08:25Vice president Kamala Harris will be joined by one of her most high-profile
08:30Supporters a little bit later tonight the Democratic presidential nominee will participate in Oprah Winfrey's unite for America live streaming event
08:38Today Harris's boss tried to convince folks that their administration's economic policies are in fact working
08:45But president Biden's claims come as new polling data shows just how dire
08:50Some families feel their situation is senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy has details live tonight from the North Lawn
08:57Good evening, Peter. Good evening, Brett. Now the president Biden isn't a candidate anymore
09:01He's a little bit more candid talking about the economy
09:04But the things he is saying don't quite match up with the things people are feeling in this new batch of Fox News polls
09:12I'm not here to take a victory lap. I'm not here to say a job
09:16Well done that resonates with voters as a growing number now
09:2066% say grocery prices are a major problem for their families 60% say housing costs are a major problem
09:2713% higher than May high prices across the board are the single most
09:32Motivating factor for 39% of voters in the new Fox poll
09:37Tonight the vice president continues trying to distance herself from Biden doing something
09:41He didn't as a candidate a virtual town hall with Oprah Oprah Winfrey
09:46identified
09:47Identifies as an independent voter. So this is about reaching a cross-section across America
09:54White House officials are chastising Republicans in Congress for failing to advance a short-term spending bill to avoid a government shutdown
10:00October 1st
10:02Don't expect any grand bargaining as Speaker Johnson says he's rarely permitted to speak to the president
10:07It's not unusual for staff to have regular conversations with congressional
10:12Staff when there's an important moment for the president and the speaker to speak obviously the president has that conversation
10:18This weekend President Biden hosts a meeting of the quad leaders in Wilmington, Delaware that will feature
10:239,000 people in a virtual town hall
10:25The president has that conversation this weekend President Biden hosts a meeting of the quad leaders in Wilmington, Delaware
10:31That will feature no access of his bilateral meetings and no press conference
10:36He wanted to have a private moment with them continue to grow those relationship. That's what this is about
10:42Tonight the Harris campaign is trying to put a happy face on the teamsters decision not to endorse her or Donald Trump by sending
10:50out an email blast with a list of 11
10:52Local teamsters unions that are now backing Harris, which goes to show that the
10:58National endorsement not coming in stings, right here. Do you see live in the North Lawn Peter? Thanks
11:08Breaking tonight an Alaska man is facing charges for threatening to injure or kill six US Supreme Court
11:14Justices and some of their family members correspondent David spun has details tonight from the Justice Department. Good evening, David Brett
11:21Good evening to you more than
11:23450 messages allegedly sent online to Supreme Court justices federal prosecutors say the language was racist
11:31homophobic and threatening this comes at a time when the
11:34Security of public officials is at an all-time concern for those trying to protect them
11:39The 76 year old man from Anchorage, Alaska who was arrested. His name is Panos Anastasio
11:44He threatened not only the lives of six unnamed justices
11:47but authorities say also their family members the messages began in March 2023 and picked up after July 1st of this year when the
11:55Supreme Court's conservative majority gave former president Donald Trump brought immunity from criminal prosecution in the special counsel's election interference case
12:02according to this indictment the defendants message contained a threat to murder Supreme Court justices one and two and
12:08Family members one and two by threatening to send fellow veterans to spray their homes with bullets
12:13Hopefully killing them Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement our justice system
12:18Depends on the ability of judges to make their decisions based on the law and not on fear
12:23Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022 and months-long protests outside some of their homes in the DC suburbs
12:30The u.s. Marshals began providing 24-hour security to the Supreme Court justices and their families
12:36This after a man armed with a handgun and knife traveled to Maryland to allegedly try and kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh
12:43That case is working toward a 2025 trial back to this case
12:48The justices were not named in the actual indictment, but this man could face up to 90 years behind bars for those threats
12:55We've reached out to the Supreme Court have not heard back when we asked for comment Brett. Okay, we'll follow it David. Thank you
13:01Stocks soared today following yesterday's interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve the Dow jumping
13:07522 to top the
13:0942,000 mark for the first time ever the S&P 500 finished ahead at 95 the Nasdaq gained
13:15441 today up next Israel intensifies its offensive against Hezbollah terrorists
13:21We'll have a live report from Tel Aviv is around the world
13:24Now Brazil's Supreme Court is ordering the social media platform X not to try to circumvent a previous ruling
13:31suspending its operation in Brazil X became
13:35Accessible to many users in Brazil yesterday after an update to its communications network
13:41Bypassing the court-ordered block. The company is blaming a switch in network providers
13:46It says it is maintaining efforts to work with the government to restore service soon
13:51Israeli officials say they are striking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon as we speak
13:56This comes after two days of attacks on the group involving exploding pagers and radios and other devices
14:04Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate correspondent Nate Foy is in Tel Aviv again tonight
14:09I love the enemy crossed in this operation all the rules laws and red lines a
14:16possible declaration of war
14:18That's how Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah described back-to-back days of explosions in Lebanon
14:25The senior u.s. Official says Israel compromised the terrorist groups communication devices and detonated them remotely
14:32Nasrallah called the attacks a severe blow to Hezbollah and promised to punish Israel
14:38Israeli fighter jets flew over Beirut during his speech
14:42Nasrallah also promised Hezbollah will continue firing on Israel until it reaches a ceasefire deal with Hamas
14:49Hezbollah killed two IDF soldiers and injured eight Israelis during a strike this morning
14:54Israel fired back hitting a weapon storage facility in southern Lebanon an elite division of Israeli paratroopers and commandos
15:01Await their assignment not far away
15:04Defense Minister Yoav Golan discussed strategy with top military leaders
15:09This is a new phase of the war. It bears opportunities, but also significant risks
15:1660,000 Israelis remain evacuated from their homes in the north u.s. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with French leaders today
15:23Urging diplomacy over military action. We don't want to see any escalatory actions by any party that make that even more difficult
15:30There is a real problem that needs to be resolved when it comes to
15:35Northern Israel and southern Lebanon the intelligence war continues adjacent to the battlefield
15:40This Israeli man appeared in court today accused of conspiring with Iran to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
15:50Tonight the Israeli Air Force has launched massive airstrikes in southern Lebanon and as a result of that the IDF is advising residents in
15:57The north who have not evacuated from their homes to stay near shelters as they await a response from Hezbollah
16:04Brett made for live in Tel Aviv Nate. Thank you up next
16:07We take a close look at the fight for control of the US Senate with an emphasis on what happens in you guessed it, Pennsylvania
16:16First up beyond our borders tonight a Hong Kong court sentences the first two people under a tough new national security law
16:22One man was given 14 months in prison for wearing a t-shirt with a protest slogan on it a
16:28Second received 10 months for writing pro-independence messages on the back of bus seats
16:35critics say the law stifles freedom of expression a
16:39Massive flood wave moving across Central Europe threatens new areas after claiming 24 lives so far
16:44Heavy rains also causing flooding and evacuation of some 1,000 people in northern Italy
16:50And this is a live look at Rome one of the big stories there tonight
16:54The Vatican allows Catholics to continue flocking to a southern Bosnian village where children there reported seeing visions of the Virgin Mary
17:03The Vatican's doctrine office did not declare the reported apparitions authentic or of supernatural origin
17:09But it says positive quote spiritual fruits stemming from the experience
17:15Justify letting the faithful attend
17:18Just some of the other stories beyond our borders tonight. I'll be right back
17:22Welcome back to special report every day as we get closer to the election
17:25We're obviously focused on those swing states for the presidential race
17:28But we're also focused on the battle for control of the US Senate. It really does hang in the balance
17:34You see these yellow states. These are our toss-ups and as you see our what-if scenario
17:394942 we can say as of today the real clear politics average of polls
17:44Let's just say who's leading in those will give them the state
17:48Maryland is a lead for Democrats, Ohio is closing, but still Sherrod Brown has the lead there
17:55Michigan is
17:56Democrat leaning Wisconsin as well, Arizona and Nevada
18:03Republicans right now leading in the polls in West Virginia and
18:07Montana I see I leave Pennsylvania here because I want to tell the story about Pennsylvania
18:13Incumbent Democrat Bob Casey facing Dave McCormick
18:16The real clear politics average of polls in this race has been closing in recent days there
18:21You see it a little bit more than five points
18:23But the recent poll the most recent the Washington Post poll out has this race tied at
18:304848 Republicans manage to pull off this upset win over the incumbent go back to the map
18:37You can see it would be
18:39552
18:4048 in Pennsylvania the issue of energy is very important obviously
18:45Fracking her own Lawrence Jones went out to Western, Pennsylvania and talked to folks in that industry about how important it is
18:55Kamala Harris who's the vice president was once against fracking. There's no question. I'm in favor of banning fracking
19:01She now says she's for fracking. I will not ban fracking. Do you believe her?
19:05No, I believe she's out there saying whatever she can to make people, you know, try to swing her way
19:11So that she can try to get the presidency the sentiment around this whole region is nobody believes that I don't believe anybody in that
19:18administration
19:19What do you believe happens if she becomes the president? You're gonna have even more regulation
19:24You're gonna have people that let banks aren't gonna want to invest you're gonna see people move out of
19:30the areas where the drilling and gas is
19:34That whole segments online I commend it to you
19:36It's really good interviews and perspective
19:38But joining us now here on set Mark Penn former advisor and pollster for President Bill Clinton
19:43He's CEO of stagwell and chairman of the Harris poll and political consultant co-founder and chairman of purple strategies Alex Castellanos
19:51Gentlemen, let's start where I left off there the energy issue, Pennsylvania every time I do these what-if scenarios I come back to that one
19:58State market is really central as you look at the presidential and obviously the Senate race
20:04Well, I think there's a lot of contradictory information coming out of Pennsylvania
20:08But that's because there's a limit to what polls can do. I think realistically speaking, you know, if there was a Senate uprace
20:14I think Trump would win that state and I think that's what happened, but I don't think this is determined yet
20:19I think you're seeing about five percentage points of voters moving back and forth here across the country and in these swing states
20:26Alright, so if you're gonna set the table now across the board where we are now Alex, what will you set?
20:32Well this first I'd commend everybody at home to go to Fox news.com and look at this survey because it's fascinating
20:39And if you want to understand why half of this nation of wonderful people
20:45Can view the world so differently then you should start here
20:49This race has been stable almost unchanged since September of 2023 and that's because I don't think the choice has changed
20:56It's still Donald Trump running against his most formidable enemy not Kamala Harris Donald Trump
21:03And it's the good Trump who made the world safer got the economy going
21:08Enforced the border versus the Trump we saw now and then when he talks about who's eating the cat
21:16Is he a dangerous figure?
21:19What's happening in this survey that impressed me is that beneath the surface Kamala Harris is beginning to become
21:28Less risky and more familiar and better known not on her policies
21:32Nobody seems to be able to tell you on the survey what she's for or against
21:36She seems to be for whatever you believe whatever you believe
21:42But on the survey they thought well Kamala Harris cares about people like me Kamala Harris cares about the middle class
21:50She's kind of the candidate of the future so the cement is beginning to set
21:56She's becoming a more acceptable alternative for that group of voters that is looking for an alternative to Donald Trump
22:06So also in this Fox poll groups that Trump leads with Mark you look at that those who attend worship big lead
22:14White men no degree again a big lead rural voters 5741 men overall 5246
22:22And the flip side what I looked at it on the groups that support Harris black voters
22:27That's a pretty high number for a Republican and as you go down that list there are also
22:32Traditional not great groups for Republicans that he's doing better with
22:37Well look I think the atmospherics behind the poll favor Trump
22:42He's generally got a good record on immigration on economy on crime
22:47I think Latino voters who have really surged to be almost 15 percent of the electorate
22:53Really care about bread-and-butter economic issues
22:57But the campaign I agree hasn't stopped the camel momentum
23:01She is getting a buy on just being liked not on the basis of any any policies
23:07And he is yet to really draw an clear economic contrast with her that sticks with the voters
23:14He could do it the the atmospherics or behind the scenes are there
23:18People think he did a better job as president than than President Biden or than she'll do
23:23But he just hasn't delivered he spends too much time on immigration too much time on side issues
23:29And I don't know why anybody would do a rally in New York if I were if I were Donald Trump
23:34Well in part maybe Alex to say I'm here in New York and not like he's really going to win it
23:41But project by the cross the 50-yard line it looks confident and strong
23:45But you know the other thing that is happening here yes she's getting better known and more acceptable
23:50Last night the Trump campaign I think had one of its best days in in several bad weeks
23:56And that's he saw a much more human Donald Trump we saw a much less unacceptable Donald Trump
24:02He was charming he was funny he's a guy you want to have dinner with
24:08That makes a lot of those soft anti-Trump voters
24:14Hey he did have a good record and maybe he's more acceptable than I think
24:18So I think we need less rallies and more gut felt
24:22Mark what about the prospect of another debate for either campaign
24:27The draw of 70 million plus Americans watching one event
24:32Well I understand the decision Trump made not to have a debate because unless he gets a fully
24:40The decision today at least
24:43Not to have a debate because it's a risky forum if the moderators are going to favor her
24:49And she could get by with non-answer so I get that as an old school campaigner I love debates
24:55I think every campaign should have three debates I don't think this should be negotiable
25:00Because people want to be president United States and have a six trillion dollar budget
25:04And thousands of nuclear weapons should be able to do a presidential debate
25:08And you seem pretty energized about the ABC run of it
25:12Yeah because I think that when moderators become participants
25:16The voters don't get to see the candidates and who they are
25:20I don't know how that debate would have gone had they challenged her
25:24She might have stumbled I don't know what would have happened if the first debate with Biden
25:28They had challenged Trump Biden might have looked good enough to remain the nominee
25:32You agree with that it's hard to debate your opponent and the moderators
25:37Unless if he can do something different than he did the first debate
25:41If he can lead us into the future if he can raise our eyes over the horizon
25:45And say follow me we're going to we are going to make America great this is what it means to you
25:49If he could do that debate again if not keep on going
25:53Gentlemen as always thank you
25:55Up next our 50 races and 50 days segment
25:59Plus a mysterious group accused of trying to fool you
