00:00This is the frontage of the former Wylie & Co building on Haymarket, a structure that has
00:04long stood out on Sheppold's High Street for its Tudor-inspired white and black painted wood.
00:08As said, there is only a facade here and there hasn't been a building behind it for years,
00:12but now even the facade itself could largely disappear.
00:17The council says the facade is now at risk of imminent collapse and is posing a real danger
00:20to the public, leading to them quote-unquote stepping in and putting up the scaffolding
00:25you can see behind me. The plan is to remove the black and white Tudor-inspired structure
00:29that everybody knows while quote-unquote preserving as much as possible. Preparations
00:34were carried out over the weekend of September 21st to make the facade safe and remove it entirely,
00:38with Sheppold councillor Ben Miskel saying it will be up to the building's owner to read
00:41state at a later date if they so choose. The council says if and when the structure is secure
00:47that the area has the potential to be developed, but the council also claims that the site's owner
00:53quote-unquote failed to act when they were invited to make the area safe themselves.
