00:00Welcome in what a word today. I'm gonna teach you entitled you're doing too much today
00:05You better ask somebody if any man lacks wisdom let him acts of God you'd be surprised
00:10What you want from God?
00:13That you never even asked him for I need you to put your seatbelt on tell somebody this is the message you cannot miss
00:19You're doing too much today's message. You better ask somebody
00:30Join a group
00:54If you need wisdom
00:56Ask our generous God and he will give it to you
01:02He will not rebuke you for asking. Oh, you grew up on King James of any man lack wisdom
01:10Let him ask God
01:12If any man lacks wisdom let him acts God do me a favor look down your row with three people on both sides and tell
01:19Them you better ask somebody go ahead tell them
01:21You
01:23Better ask somebody you better ask somebody be seated that video had me tripping. They're gonna put me on blast on Instagram and
01:32I'm the dumbest person in the room. I'm thinking I'm live
01:37And they looking at me like you are doing too much
01:41In a very real sense. That's our thematic thrusts. You're doing too much
01:45I told you that that phrase has embedded itself in our culture. You hear it everywhere
01:51You know
01:51Sometime a girl just trying on too many colors with her outfit
01:55Doing too much with her hair her makeup and y'all be whispering like she is doing too much
02:01Sometime there's somebody over your house that was barely invited and they doing all the talking
02:06You kind of whisper she doing too much. Who is she? She doing too much trying to impress these men here
02:11She's just doing way too much. It is this phrase that has embedded itself in our culture
02:17I thought what a great theme the book of James blesses me because I think many of you watch this you're doing too much
02:27Stuff you're trying to do on your own God wants to help you do
02:31Stuff you haven't been called to do you're trying to pull it off on your own and it's aging you it's stressing you
02:37It's grading you
02:40Untimely great untimely aging untimely sickness because you're putting pressure on yourself that God didn't even put on
02:48Yeah, you taking care of people who don't want to take care of themselves
02:52Yeah, you taking on people's pressure why they sleep
02:56Yeah, they sleep now
02:57You got all the stress on you even some of your children watch this who you love dearly and we give you a life
03:02For but at some point they have to live their own lives and cannot take all of your little life you have left
03:08Because of their indecision indifference and apathy so sometimes you can literally be doing too much James
03:16Has something to say to us about doing too much when there's help available
03:21Just a few alliterated ideas to start this little feeble dissertation
03:26Just in the first verse just in the first verse. There's like three things that jump at me. Number one. There's the author
03:34There is the audience and there is the argument
03:37Let's unpack those the the author the audience and the argument who is the author we see it right there in the first verse
03:44Look what it says. It says James a bond servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ to the twelve tribes
03:51There's the audience who are dispersed abroad. What's up? Greetings? He says what's up?
03:57This James first of all the author who is he? He is James. He calls himself a bond servant
04:02But historically who is he? You know this Bible readers. He Jesus brother
04:07Yeah, you do know that Jesus has some half brothers and sisters because they definitely didn't have the same daddy
04:16Praise God, they definitely didn't have the same daddy Jesus daddy was God. Okay, forget it
04:21Here's what I'm trying to tell you. So so so all I'm trying to tell you is after Joseph watched Jesus be born
04:26He's like, okay girl version thing over. I'm coming on in
04:31Praise God, okay. Yeah, you know, so they they make love. Come on. Come on. Let's talk. They make love
04:37I mean think about he never touched her until she had Jesus
04:41Yeah, be careful with somebody who does not honor the divinity that's in you
04:46Yeah, they they rather touch you then care about the divinity that's in you
04:52Yeah, James James tells us he's the brother of Jesus, which means daddy
04:56Joseph says I love you enough as much as I want to make love to you touch you
05:00I want to honor the divine that's in you and I'm not going to do that until it's the appropriate time
05:06Eventually, they make love they they honor their marriage covenant
05:09They come together and she has other children
05:12James is one of them James is much more humble than me because I would have started the book like I'm his brother
05:18My big brother Jay y'all call him Jesus. We called him Jay
05:23He never mentions the fact that
05:26Jesus is his brother. No, he rather he rather he rather tell you I'm a bond servant
05:33I'm a bond servant that that deserves some unpacking. I'm a bond
05:39Servant, let me see bond slave bond servant. So slave bond slave servant
05:45vis-a-vis
05:46Bond sir, what's the distinction?
05:49I'm glad you asked good class because you know this if you've been at the word five minutes that a bond
05:54Servant was someone who chose to be a slave by choice
06:001863 January 1st
06:02Abraham Lincoln says the Emancipation Proclamation is now in place and it became a military order all slaves must be set free
06:101863 January 1st
06:11Which is why black people have New Year's Eve service on the 31st awaiting the first because we are watching for freedom
06:18We call it watch night because they were watching for freedom. That's why white churches don't have New Year's Eve service
06:23It's a black church tradition because of the waiting for emancipation
06:28We still have New Year's Eve service waiting on freedom. We free now that would just come because we want to praise God. Amen
06:35That said
06:371865 June 19. Let me see. You call it Juneteenth major
06:42General comes in to Galveston, Texas and tells slaves, you know, we free even though they had been free supposedly for two years
06:49They didn't get the information
06:50It's a trip to be in bondage and don't know it
06:54Even worse. It's a trip to be set free and don't know it
06:58Y'all got to catch this
07:00Somebody would argue is even worse to now know you free and still don't leave
07:05You
07:07Know he's no good, but won't leave
07:10You know sleep with him as a kind of bondage, but it's so good. You just stay in it. You know, he's married
07:14I was tripping because somebody talked about how I've been with him 30 years as his side chick
07:18I wanted to respond and don't you know what the funeral they not even say your name
07:23They not gonna even say your name after 30 years of cooking for him and touching him
07:27They're not gonna say your name and you can be sitting in in the church man because you get no recognition
07:32You've been in bondage 30 years
07:34Touch your neighbor say is he talking to you and me? I just got here. I ain't got no mistress. I'm not in bondage
07:38I mean, who is he mad at cuz he can't kind of strong. I mean, I ain't got no side chick
07:44I ain't no side piece. I mean he can't kind of hard
07:48Can we just get back to James or something? I mean, what a side chick come from it's like
07:54So, let me see 1863 January 1st
07:57Emancipation Proclamation 1865
07:59Right, yeah Gordon Granger general Gordon Granger general Gordon Granger comes into Galveston, Texas and says you are now free 18
08:081865 we call it Juneteenth even after some persons discovered they were free. They said we not leaving
08:16Now culturally I could argue from a black historic ethos that you set me free, but I can't read
08:22You set me free, but I have no property you set me free, but I have no sense of who I am or where to go
08:27So it almost seems better to stay here than to go out with no education
08:32Because if I can rob you of self-esteem and education I can keep you in bondage
08:38Which is why young people who be talking in school and your mama broke you crazy
08:44Your mama broke and you ain't got straight A's and your mama broke
08:49Your daddy ain't got no money and you ain't getting straight A's because education is your way out of bondage
08:55You you ain't you ain't got time to be sleeping class your mama broke
09:03That was that was my teenage moment back to grow people
09:11Say that to say even after they found that they were free some of them said I
09:15Like to say some stay watch this because the master actually treated them with a kind of dignity and they thought I'm 50 60 years
09:21Oh, I'd rather stay they then become a bond servant
09:24which now means I'm no longer a slave because I have to be I'm a slave because I I
09:29Want to be in some traditions
09:31They would then take a certain a certain nail and drive it through your ear which was symbolic to anybody who saw it
09:38Oh, he's no longer a slave because he has to be he's now choosing to be a slave
09:43I think the way they were marked with that nail God has marked us with the Holy Ghost
09:48So
09:50When you see me not sleeping around you think it's because I'm corny you don't know I made a choice
09:57Yeah, because I didn't cuss you out you think I'm crazy
10:00But you don't know I chose not to cuss you out. There's a cuss right here, but I chose
10:06You think I've lost my mind cuz I let y'all get away with stuff
10:10Y'all think I'm the crazy black girl. Y'all have no idea ten years ago
10:14I had to cut all y'all with two knives and scratch your whole face
10:18But God got a hold in my heart and now I'm no longer a slave against my choice
10:22I'm a slave because I want to be I belong to God. I'm a bond servant
10:29I'm a bond servant. I choose to walk with Jesus. I choose to give up the world
10:34I choose to give up craziness and chicks and running through women. I choose that now I
10:41Choose that
10:44It's about choice. I am a I am a bond servant. Let me see biblically. Let me see. Let me see class
10:50That's not the first time you heard that that's not the first time you heard that because you're a Bible reader
10:53You remember when the announcing angel Gabriel came to Mary and said you're gonna carry the Son of God
10:59She says behold you're a bond servant
11:03Be it unto me. So, let me see. The author is James
11:06But then who's the audience the audience are these Christians who are dispersed?
11:12throughout
11:13Jerusalem and throughout the Roman Providence while Cyprus the Asia Minor don't let me bore you
11:19I have thinking people who've been with me 20 years. They like to learn so stick with me. So
11:24These persons who have been dispersed who is the audience people who have been displaced?
11:28Because of persecution when when Deacon Stephen remember preaching Deacon Stephen
11:33Preach one of the longest sermons in the New Testament in the book of Acts
11:36He preached so long until people got mad and picked up a bunch of rocks and hit him in the head
11:40Literally stoned him to death and so persecution was birthed out of the
11:46death or martyrdom of
11:48Stephen after that the Christians was like we got to get up out of here or they gonna kill us all
11:53So all of them had the Holy Ghost all of them that their Pentecost all of them on fire
11:57All of them praising God meeting at each other's houses and God said if I don't send persecution y'all gonna stay at church
12:05So
12:07I got to break this up to get y'all where I want y'all to be because sometimes your assignment can't always be happy
12:13So God says what I got to do because y'all like fellowship and so much y'all like being together and
12:20Communion and koinonia so much that unless I send persecution, you'll never leave Jerusalem
12:25But if you never leave Jerusalem, how's Cleveland gonna hear about it?
12:30How's Akron gonna hear about it? How is strong? Are y'all getting it? How strong is it?
12:34How strong's bill gonna get it?
12:35So sometime as much as you love family gotta call you out and say your assignment is someplace else
12:42But you and your sister had to argue for you to leave
12:46But now y'all cool again, but God allows some tension to push you away to your purpose
12:51But at that point had there not been any tension you had never left had you never left you wouldn't be in purpose now
12:57So even when stuff don't make sense, he's working on you. He's ordering your steps
13:02How am I still in verse 1?
13:06How am I still in verse 1?
13:10So there is the author
13:13There is the audience, but then there is the argument
13:16There's the argument come on class
13:18Come on class. The argument is about the canonization of the book of James because you do know Martin Luther not Martin Luther decay
13:26We hear Martin Luther boy black you're Martin Luther decay
13:30No, no, but rather Martin Luther the 5th century former of whom he was named after
13:36Daddy King named him his name was Michael King. Did you know that Michael King his father changed his name to Martin?
13:42All right, Luther King after the reformer stay with me now and watch how to catch this
13:48the idea is that
13:51Martin Luther in the 5th century
13:52He hated the book of James by the way
13:55We have a group on the book of James the class of the book of James you can sign up for today
13:58It's just a great book, but he didn't like the book of James Martin Luther reform
14:02He liked Paul now because he believed in justification by faith. He was a Pauline scholar. Come on thinking people
14:07I'm gonna get practical but bring your brain right now. This is important. He's a Pauline scholar
14:12He believes in justification by faith where James talks about it in chapter 2 faith without works is dead
14:18So his mindset is I don't like the book of James plus James only says Jesus Christ in the first verse first couple verses
14:24He never mentions the name Jesus again, but everything is about Christ in Matthew 25. How do you take care of the orphans?
14:30It should be in there. But Martin Luther just studied this later. He called it the book of straw
14:36Or the straw epistle. He thought it had no reason to be in the Bible. He thought it should be removed from the camp
14:43That's the heavy part Browns coming on y'all like I did not come for history lesson. What I got to do with me and pookie
14:49All right, that's what I'm thinking people now
14:51Let's go. Let's go because I want y'all to catch this because verse 2 says he's writing to these people who have been dispersed
14:56They trip it. They all over the place. I got to preach to everybody
14:59I guess I'll pause and preach to people who all over the place this morning
15:03Yeah, you here in body, but not your mind. I
15:06Tell pastors now I got to go to Charlotte all of my sons are meeting me in Charlotte, North Carolina in October
15:12I'm going to Charlotte because it's easier for all of them to get there. They want me to touch him
15:16I call this show yourself to the priest where every church I cover across
15:19America is gonna meet me in Charlotte all the pastors for me to lay my hands on them Bishop laid his hands on me last
15:24Sunday Bishop joy and the Holy Spirit told me to lay my hands on all of my sons and daughters that I cover the women
15:30Are coming this time the male pastors
15:31But one of the things I want to tell them during that two days of training is that you got five minutes not to be
15:36boring
15:38You used to build your sermon and take your time now people are distracted with a phone
15:43They man they Instagram and you got five minutes even grandma on Facebook
15:50You'd be preaching too long grandma start looking at her phone. Let me see what Lucy doing Lucy. I
15:55Ain't seen Ella May in 65 years. Let me see Ella May she on Facebook
16:02So, let me talk to some people who all over the place
16:05Your life is a trip right now. You just all over the place James has a word from you
16:11He has a word for you forgive that lengthy intro, but I think it was worth it
16:15Here's what I'm trying to tell you. He says in verse 2 count it all joy
16:19That took a long time
16:21Consider it all joy my brother when you fall King James to diverse temptations NASB various trial count it all
16:29Joy, when life is a trip that he just say count it all joy count it all joy
16:36James doesn't say count it all joy if trials come. He says count it all joy
16:43when trials come
16:45There's no maybe here when they come when they come not not if count it all joy consider it all joy
16:52When you go through diverse trials and tribulations, come on now, let's talk straight
16:57He says consider it all joy count it all joy when you in the middle of stuff. You don't understand that that's church stuff
17:04That's religious rhetoric. That's theological jargon. That's cute stuff to say to get you a shower
17:10But all of us know as practical and logical as that may be
17:14Sometimes it's just not reality. It depends on what I'm going through you asking me to count it all joy
17:19My dear mama just died you asking me to count it all joy. I trusted him and he did that
17:24You asked me to count it all joy. I just found out this about my child
17:28Can I tell you something 50 does for you? Can I tell you something?
17:31I hope y'all make it to 50 something. 50 take all the game out you
17:35Okay, 9 o'clock and feel this better
17:3850 60 70 80 come here at 30 40 y'all on y'all way y'all getting there real fast. Some of y'all there already
17:43Can I tell you what 50 do for you 50 50 make you get tired of playing with anybody?
17:49Y'all didn't hear what I just said 50 and over you ain't got no more time for games 50 and over
17:55You just say what you feel
17:58You coming over? Uh-uh
18:00Why cuz I don't feel like it y'all just missed that can I get 50 people y'all just missed that
18:07Can I get $50, uh-uh
18:10You ain't got it. Oh, I got plenty of money. Praise God. You just can't have that
18:13I've been giving you money for 35 years and I'm tired of it
18:17You feel like watching the kids. Uh-uh. Why cuz they yours praise God. Amen
18:21I I don't like I don't like watching the kids no more in my life. I'm too over that
18:25Don't bring them over here no more unless I ask them don't even ask them over here
18:30People this ain't got to a place you ain't got no more time for games. Don't be smiling at me
18:35If you don't like me don't fake like you're my friend. Let's just be real. I'm gonna tell you the truth in love
18:41You speak the truth to me in love
18:50One of those truths is sometimes I
18:54Don't feel no joy pastor
18:56It's hard for me to count it all joy, this is so good. I'm not preaching plastic stuff anymore prayerfully
19:03I'd never have but I'm now
19:05Dedicated to truth that you can feel and relate to so brothers don't get in the car like come on, man
19:11That wasn't true. Give it to me straight. He says in the scripture verse 2 is on the screens consider it all
19:17Joy, when you encounter various trials that becomes a command from God James doesn't say if trouble come
19:24He says when it does he assumes there will be troubles and that it is possible to profit from them
19:30He assumes not if when when when when they're good parents in this room
19:35And my wife and I tried to be like you we tried our best to make sure our kids didn't feel some of the pain
19:40We went through we tried our best to cover them from some of the mental
19:44We had to endure all of us that grew up in the 60s and 70s
19:48All of our parents were crazy raise your hands to amen praise God. Amen. You know, they were crazy
19:51They wouldn't even let you come in the house to get some water. That's crazy
19:55Now y'all know that it's not you shut my screen. Don't
19:59Shut my screen. Don't come in here. We thirsty get some water out the holes. We are there
20:05Now y'all come on we got no more bottle water bottle water
20:1645 and over throw your hand up, please. They don't believe me up here. I'm a bottle water
20:25So
20:27As much as we tried to shield them
20:30Now that I have college kids that I'm raising and married children and ones with husbands and ones
20:37With wives and having their own children
20:39there's still a part of me that whenever they're going through anything I want to fix it and
20:44Then the Lord spoke to me and said don't you block their progress?
20:49Because I don't care how much you love them
20:52There are some trials your checkbook can't fix
20:57There are some trials
20:59Your preaching prowess and pastoral influence can't fix you had your life
21:04They gotta have their life and there's some stuff I want to do in them that you have nothing to do with
21:09So honor them and their privacy if they don't invite you don't ask
21:14because what I'm doing in their life is for them and there's somebody in this crowded church you in the middle of a trial and
21:20James has the unmitigated goal the unusual audacity to challenge believers and tell you in the middle of your lowest place
21:27It may not feel good now
21:30But have enough Jesus have enough faith to believe that even though I don't understand it now
21:37I'm about to shout for what I don't know
21:42I'm sorry hit two people say praise him for something. Go ahead. I don't
21:46Say I don't even know what I'm thanking him for right now, but I thank him for something it makes no sense to me
21:50I don't know what's happening in my life
21:52But I know some type of way God's gonna get the glory out of this why because the next verse says knowing that the testing
22:03The testing of your faith produces endurance and let endurance have this perfect result look at it everybody
22:09That you may be complete
22:12That you may be complete
22:14Pastor I grew up on King James that you may be perfect
22:17Well, we know we know the Greek etymology can't be that because there are no perfect people
22:21But yet the King James said that you may be perfect. So what does NASB do for us?
22:25It does the exegetical hermeneutical word of breaking it down for you that you might be mature
22:30That you might be mature and complete to Greek words. Tell it eat. Oh, tell it eat. Oh, you know that word
22:36Yes, you do. Yes, you do
22:37What's the six word Jesus said from the cross before he said father into the hands I commit my spirit
22:43He said it is tell I eat us it is finished. It's the first cousin. I'm telling eos
22:48It is telling me I owe it is to be complete or finish Jesus said on the cross. It is
22:54Telethysa it is finished the same Greek word
22:57It's the first cousin same root it is to be finished or complete great class watching all across the world to be finished or
23:04Complete that you might be finished or mature. I like this because the second Greek word is right there. It is halak
23:11Korea OS now it comes from halas or
23:15Wholeness and then there is key arrow. Oh
23:18Would you look at your name and say is this Greek class a church?
23:22All I'm saying I don't give Greek words to show I'm smart. I give Greek words to help you because it is wholeness
23:30But then the other word Kelly eros is part. Wait a minute
23:34whole
23:35Part whole great class whole part whole part
23:39You'll love this to give the idea of perfected all over or fully developed in every part
23:48Okay, I'm gonna lose anybody who doesn't like to think fully developed in every part
23:54Pastor come on bring it to me here. I come all I'm trying to tell you is what you going through right now
23:59You sit here thinking how's this helping me?
24:02When I'm broke God says that's not the part I'm trying to help
24:08That's not the part I'm trying to fix but pastor I'm spiritual he says that's not the part because you spiritual but you crazy
24:17So what you going through is not for your spirit man is for your mental name
24:21What I'm letting happen now is to push your behind to online therapy
24:24Because you think because you got Jesus and you in three groups that you're not crazy no more
24:28You still need a Christian therapist, so I'm gonna push you until you realize I'm trying to develop the other part of you
24:33I didn't know until I start pastoring honestly growing up in church my whole life. I didn't know you could be saved and crazy
24:42until I met y'all
24:45Because I was meeting people she like she's you ever seen somebody got so much Jesus honest to God you think they float when they walk
24:53And
24:57There's almost an admiration like I would love to be connected to Christ like her
25:02I can just sense. God is all over her and then I started I started meeting people
25:09And
25:10I knew God was all over him and all over her until I started talking to him, and I was like she crazy
25:18Now
25:21Here's what you would do wrong. Here's what here's what you would
25:25Misappropriate her spirituality you'd say all that fake Jesus stuff, and she crazy
25:31There's nothing about her Jesus that's fake to her
25:35She loves Jesus. She pray all the time. She read her Bible the problem is she don't like people
25:44But she loved God and people have wounded her so much
25:47The only relationship she wants is one with Jesus
25:50So she pray she don't date no man. She'll give nobody her number, but she's shaded
25:56She's hurt
25:58So she's turning to God and she's developing her spirituality because she's tired of the games
26:03But while she's chasing God she's now not become too kind to be around because she hasn't dealt with the other stuff
26:09So sometimes God is there says you good in that part, but I'm trying to make you whole over here
26:14The Bible says so that you'll be deficient and nothing
26:18Y'all didn't clap. I need some people that would say I'm broke
26:24But I need some help with my mentor you see this is why okay y'all missing this this is why
26:31Okay, let me just hurry up because the next verse says
26:33How do I pull this off pastor?
26:35How do I pull this off in light of all I'm going through in light of all I'm struggling with I got I got money
26:40Stuff I got man stuff. I got mama problems. I got health problems. I got stuff in my marriage
26:45I'm a brother with no daddy
26:46I'm 50 and fatherless and
26:49Filling it and I want to know how do I deal with all this stuff on my mind trying to be a husband all my dudes
26:56I kick through it in the streets got chicks to go running through women
26:59I'm trying to stay with one and the one I got don't touch me enough
27:03Not knowing there's plenty I could touch and I'm trying to be whole to one. I got a lot on my mind
27:08This man doesn't speak it to my life. He's the only man I can be with I'm still cute. I can have anybody
27:12He's not producing nothing. How do I handle this in light of all of that? How do I handle this paradox?
27:22Teach RA I feel like
27:25I'm glad you asked he tells us what to do in verse 5. This is my sermon if any of you lack wisdom
27:31I
27:33Let him ask of God
27:35Who gives to all generously and without reproach you missed your shot?
27:39I know you've been in church since Moby Dick was a guppy
27:41I know you learned this in Sunday School 101
27:44But you missed it the Bible does not say if any man lacks a man let him ask
27:49The Bible does not say if any man lacks money. Let him ask
27:53The Bible the Bible does speak the passages about asking God for resources and asking God for anything you want
27:59But the Bible says here in verse 5 you missed it
28:01The Bible does not say if anybody's going through something ask God and he gonna fix it
28:07That's not what it says. The Bible says that any man lacks wisdom on how to handle your mental
28:15If any person is in the middle of something that has you tripping the Bible does not promise fixing the situation
28:23The Bible promises wisdom for it
28:27I'm helping somebody
28:29if any of you lack wisdom in light of
28:34Persecution come on context in light of going through stuff in light of whatever you struggling with if you lack wisdom on what to do next
28:42Ask God I said to the nine o'clock service. I've been telling y'all for the last five years. Nobody's hearing me
28:47How about if I told you what you most need from God you don't even ask him for?
28:53Because your Bible says who gives to all men
28:57Who gives to all men which means God liberally which means he's dying to give you perspective
29:03So that you don't pastor. Is he gonna fix it? No, but he'll fix you
29:09Y'all didn't say nothing
29:11Let him ask God. I guess really this premise this premise and posture is
29:17Toward prayer this is toward asking this is toward you not doing so much and
29:24Trying to handle it on your own and losing your brain and losing your mind when God says the thing you tripping on
29:31Why don't you turn your phone off?
29:33It's not listen to Instagram psychologists
29:37And fake Facebook doctors and ask me and get on your knees y'all what y'all missy y'all didn't say nothing
29:45I need grandma now y'all not feeling because cuz grandma said what a friend
29:50We have in Jesus all our sins and griefs to bear watch this. What a privilege it is to carry
29:59Everything to God in prayer. You didn't grow up in church. Oh
30:04What needs
30:05We often forfeit all what painless griefs we bear what needless we're all because
30:12We do not carry
30:15Everything. I wish I had some old-school players up in here
30:19everything
30:21brother, Kepler
30:22everything
30:23To God in prayer. So God told me to tell you whatever you tripping on talk to him
30:29Oh, you think talking to him is just 15 minutes in the morning with Maverick City playing in the speaker with dark lights
30:36No talking to him is when you riding in your car and just walking down the street
30:40Or lifting weights or doing push-ups and people think you crazy because they see your mouth moving
30:45But they don't see nobody around you, but grandma said just a little talk
30:50with Jesus
30:52Makes it right. Can I get 50 people who knows he'll walk with me? Come on just for grandma
30:58He'll talk with me and he tells me can I get?
31:0275 people that know how to have a talk ask him
31:06If any man lacks wisdom ask God
31:11It looks like it's 50. You're not gonna fix my father
31:16You're not gonna fix my mother
31:18But God, can you give me wisdom on my next move regarding them?
31:24It looks like I got this one toxic sibling that it's just too painful to try
31:30Can I get your wisdom on how to proceed?
31:33Because the Jesus part of me always want to reconcile
31:37But is it wise to try that or is that a necessary ending?
31:46Anthropologically, I'm lonely. I ain't trying to sin and sleep around
31:50But is it wisdom in my current mental state for me to date now when I'm not over him?
31:57The next brother you meet until you get over him just name him
32:01Because you're not whole enough to move yet
32:03If there's pain with your children God give me wisdom on when I speak and when I watch
32:11All y'all not talking to me
32:14And then God told me are y'all bored?
32:18Then God told me
32:20To exercise some pastoral privilege practically and tell you this and that's this
32:24We are not going to be able to move
32:26To exercise some pastoral privilege practically and tell you this and that's this
32:31Wisdom not only seeks God and comes from God
32:33But wisdom wants to hang around wise people
32:40Be careful
32:42when everybody
32:44That you hang with or talk to is poor in the same place as you
32:52Sometimes she don't have money, but she's rich in wisdom
32:55and the problem is you try to do one-stop shop and
32:59Tell your mother everything and get all your asses from her because you trust her
33:04But but mama was rich in prayer, but poor in keeping a man
33:08Oh, yeah
33:13She was poor so so so so he's rich in advice
33:18regarding marriage
33:19But his finances stink
33:21So all of us have deficiencies we got to get better at so so sometimes ask God to
33:26Align you align you with people who are wealthy where you poor I?
33:33Can't get everything from you even though you love me
33:37Relationships are not your thing so when I asked you about my husband girl. You know man ain't nothing
33:43No, your man what nothing praise God don't put all of us in the same bag with your baby
33:48Daddy some of us love our wives and love our children, and I'm gonna be put in the same category with your pain
33:55Look down your role say he preaching to you again. I have never been that way
34:05I'm losing the whole church. Okay. Oh my goodness. I got I got I got two minutes
34:08Let's go watch this verse 4 says verse 4 verse 4 says let's turn the church up verse 4 message version message version
34:14Message version Thank You Eugene Peterson Eugene Peterson said so don't try
34:18To get out of anything prematurely let it do its work
34:22So you become mature and well-developed and not deficient in any way let me try that again
34:26So so don't try to get out of anything prematurely y'all didn't shout yet
34:30Let it do its work so so you become mature and well-developed not deficient in any way
34:37Let me try that one more time so don't try y'all didn't say nothing
34:39Let me let me don't try to get out of anything premature I
34:43Need grown folk I need to preach to grown people teenagers. I love you, but let me preach to grown people
34:48You can catch this to teenagers. He says don't don't ask to get out of anything
34:52Y'all not ready for this next level
34:55This next level is in the middle of the pain
34:59You got the nerve to say God don't move it
35:04Till you get it done
35:07Okay, okay y'all not I lost the whole church. I'm by myself
35:10That's what the Bible says don't ask to be taken out of anything prematurely you grew up on King James
35:17Let patience have this perfect
35:19Let the process happen
35:21My mother-in-law is back there my mother-in-law is back there can't nobody make biscuits like my mother-in-law
35:27They just good praise him
35:30And you think it's just ingredients and it is but the real game-changer is
35:36Knowing how long to leave them in the oven
35:40Come here bakers. Y'all not saying nothing the real trick to it is knowing when to take it out
35:45Come here cake makers pod makers because it can be the right ingredients
35:49It can be stirred properly, but the real game-changer is knowing exactly when it's done. Y'all didn't say nothing
35:56I need some people that will say God don't take me out too early
36:01But if you leave me in too long, I'll burn up
36:04Maybe that's why he told Jeremiah you are
36:08The clay come here. I am the Potter. I'm in your hands
36:12I need some people that I guess all I'm trying to say for the last 10 minute lean on somebody say Lord have your way
36:16That's all I'm saying have your way in my life
36:19Don't take me out before I'm ready because here's the problem if you come out of it before you ready
36:26Y'all not saying nothing
36:27You're gonna have to go back in
36:30So never waste a good storm
36:35Never
36:36Waste a good breakup
36:38Never waste good adultery y'all miss that never wait
36:41If you're going through it, you may as well learn from it and say God next time this comes up
36:46I want to know what to do. So Lord, let me learn from this
36:50Do what you got to do to make me what you want me to be and however long I gotta stay in this
36:56I trust you
36:58Now once you look at it from that perspective
37:02You can count it all joy
37:04Y'all just miss that
37:06Now let's backtrack and shout for 10 minutes to go see now you can shout in the middle what you in now
37:12Because you can tell your neighbor. I don't know what's gonna happen, but I do know what's gonna be. All right
37:15Go ahead. Tell the praise God
37:17It's a little rough right now. I'm crying right now. I think I picked the wrong man. It's a lot going on
37:23I don't know what's happening in my life. I got money stuff. I got body stuff
37:27I got mine stuff for the last time touch somebody say but when I come out of this go ahead
37:32That's the wrong neighbor. Come on have church with me say it may not look good now, but when I come out of this
37:38When you see me in the next two years
37:41Thank You Marvin staff. I'm gonna be better
37:44Can I get 50 people that's in the middle of something I'm sorry push five people
37:58That's the wrong person walk over to somebody shake their hand like you don't shake it off and say when I come out of this
38:04Go ahead. I shall come forward. Come on
38:06I said walk over to somebody reach behind you turn around give somebody a back with how fast I gotta do it this way
38:12Cuz I can't look back. Can I get some?
38:14To say when I come out of this I shall come for I'm sorry. Don't wait to the battle
38:27Yes
38:29Yes
38:30Would you shake your neighbor's head?
38:35You better ask somebody
38:37If you're losing your mind
38:40You better ask somebody
38:42If your mind playing tricks on you
38:45You better ask somebody
38:47Now you can sit there and look at me, but you can start praising him
38:52praise him
38:54For results, you don't know about
38:58And it shall be given see and you shall find you have not
39:08Because you ask not
39:13Is there anybody here that will shake your neighbor
39:18I'll just shake your name
39:20It's the neighbor
39:22You better ask somebody
39:24His name is
39:27Jesus he were here and
39:30answer your prayer
39:32Call her to me
39:34All you
39:36Can I get 50 people in this crowded church to jump up on your feet and praise God?
39:44in the midst of
39:47your affliction

40:33Thanks a neighbor
40:35You better ask somebody
40:37Get off Instagram
40:39And ask somebody
40:41Get off Facebook
40:43And ask somebody
40:45Get off TikTok
40:47And ask somebody
40:49I want to know
40:53For what purpose
40:55Oh
40:57Thank you
41:07I'm out of here. Good evening
41:09Pray for the browns
41:11I'm out of here y'all
41:13But I need some people
41:15In this crowded church
41:17That would grab both neighbors
41:19I said grab both neighbors
41:21because my Bible says with two or three such an agreement on anything he'll be a
41:31God in the midst. Now look back at him and say I agree with you that God has a
41:40plan for your life. I agree with you that you'll be better when you come out of
41:46this. I agree with you that your ladder shall be greater than your former. I agree with you that eyes have not seen. Tell them, don't tell me, tell them, tell them ears have not heard. Grab your neighbor. Say I agree with you that it has not yet appeared what we shall be but we do know we shall be like him.
42:12Say your name. It's a name. I got the same deal. Can you get your faith back? I got the same deal. Can you get your prayer back? I got the same deal. Can you get your perspective back?
42:42Walk over the fire. People say you better ask somebody. You better ask somebody.
43:12Oh yeah. I know he's alright. Is there anybody here that know he's alright? You ought to wave your hand. Say I know he's alright. Yes he is. Oh I feel a Baptist fit. I feel like I'm about to have a Baptist fit. Yes. Yes.
43:41Yes. Yes. I feel he's alright. He's alright.
44:11If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask God. Shh, shh, shh. Stay right there. He says, I'm cutting some off. We got to sign up for groups.
44:37But let him ask in faith. Not waving like the waves in a sea. That person will receive nothing from God. And then here's the verse you know. A double-minded man is unstable. Not just at church.
45:05Y'all not ready for this.
45:09Ah. Ah. Ah. Double-minded by definition. I like Johnson's notes here on the New Testament. Johnson's notes on the New Testament. He says, a double-minded man is a man, look at me bros, of no fixed, decided purpose.
45:34Don't date him ladies. Don't date her gentlemen. No fixed, decided purpose. Be here at 6 o'clock couples. Come on now. I'm coming more for you than I'm coming for myself.
45:50I could chill. Watch the second part of the games tonight. I ain't doing this because my marriage in trouble. No. And I'm not perfect, but I'm doing this because I have an assignment to help marriages get hold.
46:04I'm going to talk about the kinds of marriages tonight. Put that definition back up. This person is a man of no fixed, decided purpose. Fifty and confused.
46:17No. No. Double-minded. You can't even be married to him because you're not even sure what you're arguing about. She's double-minded. First she wanted this, you did that. Then she wanted that, so you did that. Then that wasn't enough. Double-minded.
46:32Somebody I love a lot. I told this week somebody I love a lot. I said, bro, 40 coming. 40 coming. You mid-30s, now 40 coming. Who are you? How often am I going to talk to you and you changing jobs?
46:52It's one thing if you're changing jobs with an upward trajectory. People just keep wanting to take you off your job and give you something better. That's different. But I'm talking about you're here, then you're there, then you're nowhere. And 40 coming. Double-minded.
47:05You can be in college double-minded, in church double-minded. I kind of like Jesus. I love his preaching. Church has a good flow. But then it's like, I do me Monday through Friday. But Sunday, you know, I'm in Y-Up, I'm jumping, I'm shouting, but you know, but then I sleep with somebody.
47:23And young people now, they sleep with each other and don't even see it as wrong. They see it as culture. Even church young people, it's like, we did it. We can serve together Sunday after we slept together Saturday. And Sunday, we're like, what's up? And we all on the door just screwing last night. Come on.
47:39Double-minded. Double-minded. My wife and I made a promise. There's two words we don't use. She's sitting to my right. Whenever I talk about my wife, she's to my right. So how can I lie? I'm telling y'all, we don't discuss separation or divorce.
47:59Now, murder comes up every few weeks. Praise God. I think she's been thinking about ways to hide my body if she set me on fire. So murder comes up every couple weeks, but never divorce. Murder all the time. I'm just playing. Why don't y'all discuss divorce? Because we're not double-minded.
48:22I stood in front of my pastor and said, I make a vow. In sickness and in health, for better or for worse. I make a covenant so I'm not double-minded. It's hard to follow a brother who's double-minded. He's unstable in all his ways.
48:40Whatever else you want to look for in a man, it's stability. But get cute. Put a pillow over his face and have stable ugly with Jesus. He'll look better with some money. I promise you. He'll look better when he finishes that degree. He'll look better when you got a place to live. He'll look better when there's food on the table. He'll look better when he's not running all over the city.
48:58Wow. What a word. That message was for somebody who's been doing too much. When God says, put it in my hands, I'll do it for you. God says, if you trust me, work with me, but lean on me. I need you to share this teaching, share this entire series. There are people who are burnt out, aging prematurely, stressed about stuff they don't have to be stressed about.
49:26When God says, just give it to me and I'll handle it for you. I want you to tell somebody, this is a series you cannot miss. You're doing too much. I'm praying for you. See you next time.
